As a 41 year old bmxer, and recently graduated animator, this story is so inspiring. Love the idea of one day maybe buying a drawing desk to sit down and draw on a desk made by Jay Miron! What a turn of events that would be
Ema Heiwa Dave Freimuth was another super tech front brake park rider who could throw down on street too. Dave Osato was the first dude I ever saw do gnarly manual to whip combos, and he murdered spines the world over.
I remember how big he was and gave Mirra great competition in both street/park and vert comps. and been wondering what the "Canadian beast" which was his nickname has been up to. It was ultra enlightening to see this vid today. I'm greatly inspired it left me teary eyed. For him to transition from being an expert at bmx freestyle to expert in furniture and demonstrate and project the same level of joy and fulfillment is incredibly inspiring. I said to myself he's got his mind working perfectly. he transitioned and to a completely new topic and kept his technique entirely the same and now he's a super high end furniture expert. That is an incredible story.
The Canadian beast! Such an inspiration to many. Showing that you can transfer that dedication into a new chapter in life is awesome to see and a new chapter of inspiration. Keep it up Jay!
i can still remember the bmx posters of Jay Miron together with DMC, Dave Mirra and the Condor in my teenage room... glad to get an update about Jay's life. He is genuinely happy with what he is doing now.
Shame on anyone who disliked this but you can't please them all. What an inspiring video, I would love to see what more people have done after BMX or any action sports career for that matter. Jay if you see this, thanks for doing you. It really is amazing to see other paths to go down after sports that can get the same amount of excitement/fulfilment from.
this is my idol man. so glad I found this video. Jay is a legend and i know he could have picked up anything and mastered it. so it comes as no surprise but feels good to see him still prosperous.
Incredible dude. I met him in 2002-ish(?) and he was just nice and you could tell he didn’t care how good you were, he had time for other riders. It’s so cool to see how he is spending his time after bmx.
He trully is a role model, for every guy who rode bmx at a young age and succesfully transform his love and passion for a bike into something that works out for him, trully inspiring.
Absolutely loved watching this guy ride, I remember the vans triple crown circuit and he would ride all 3 disciplines at will. Those double whip 3’s on dirt, oh man!
Such an important story and who other to identify and cover it than Stew J. Jay you are a legend I am a huge fan of your riding and i love the way you described these two things as the same, I see it too man! Absolute fan. Great video!
jay is one of my fav riders for sure who influenced me and who's riding was always joy to watch. i remember watching road fools 5 how jay was massive 360 the spine at the old hoffman warehouse and troy mccmurray just tried to figure out how to even ride the spine smoothly :D
I've read Jay had developed a kind of degenerative disease due to several concussions. That's why he decided go to furniture school, to keep his mind alive (and busy). That's a real hero. I shaked his hand, back in the time at Rio in 2003. I'll buy one of his creation someday. For sure. Thanks for uploading this vid!
What a beaut film! Have always wondered what happened to him and heard lots of stories, and here he is still totally killing it in a different way. Fakkin beautiful!
Jay, you are truly a master at whatever you put your mind to. In the BMX world you set the bar high and were a huge inspiration to me and my friends that rode. Thank you for that! Now, it's awesome to see your new passion, and man, you are great at woodworking. Keep being awesome!!! 🙌🤘❤️
Wow I was only thinking what ever happened to jay miron so typed it in and this came up wow so inspirational in certain sports you body just can't do anymore and to here his life story so far is amazing I saw that 540 tailwhip he did on video I think you can here the crowd gasping so cool🤘🤘
Jay was always my guy. Mirra and Hoffman were amazing of course but Jay was explosive and technical at the same time. Still have my Jay Miron signature Schwinn that I bought 22 years ago.
This was awesome! I literally still ride my Miron 2 frame, and have the original plus his last Schwinn on the wall. From one Canuck to another, you are still an inspiration Jay.
Jay Miron was one of the first freestyle bmx riders that inspired me. His riding speaks to everyone. So happy for him. I want Jay Miron furniture! He should build custom ramps. Jay probably has a bicycle and rides around his custom furniture annually. I barely ride anymore either. The next chapter indeed.
My pick for the greatest of all time. Jay killed everything he rode. He didn't need contest results to prove that. Bmx freestyle misses his presence to this day. Glad to see he followed his heart with a then new found passion. I follow him on Instagram to see his accomplishments in his furniture career.
I still remember seeing my first x games and he did the most amazing 360 tail whip over a box jump I used to replay that over and over. I still can’t find the footage, it might have been from 98
My line-mate in peewee hockey. Still remember what an awesome dude and hockey player he was to this day. Always wondered what happened to him when he left Tbay. Now I know.
huge respect to the legend, this was an eye opening for some dudes who wants to be seccesful in the bmx world, its really hard to be successful in bmx and make moke a money out of it
I am the young Canadian teenager who bought RIDE BMX magazines in the early 2000s and saw Jay doing Freestyle..My I find that has really aged since his last video !
The Canadian Beast!!! As a kid I had that red Schwinn bike on the cover of BMX plus, and it was way... way overbuilt. Triple wall and heavy duty everything. Now I know why! Jay Miron shreds!!
@@XGames of course it is, but do "todays youth" understands what it takes to handle that kind of bike Jay was ride'n then ... and we ain't talk His bar position.
This guy is a legend. On the same level as Nyquist, Mirra, Huffman etc.
Amen to that
Hoffman.
And Scotty Cranmer
Felicity Huffman
Miss to see him riding. Be safe

Jay is arguably the GOAT. Thanks for all the memories, dude.
No arguments here.
For me, he was the best! I still have my Schwinn Jay Miron Signature. What an outstanding video.
Jay Miron and Dave Osato were some of my favorite riders. Their technical skills are still seldom rivaled.
Dave osato! I totally forgot him. The 90s were so good
Ema Heiwa Dave Freimuth was another super tech front brake park rider who could throw down on street too. Dave Osato was the first dude I ever saw do gnarly manual to whip combos, and he murdered spines the world over.
@@jasonedward6993 Might have to add Jason Enns to this ongoing list!
This was awesome. Glad to see he’s still finding success. I don’t know if there is an official bmx hall of fame but there should be
Absolutely.
What a legend and great to see him find something else that makes him happy after his time on a bike

Bmx keeps us all looking young for life..
Thanks legend for the memories man.
I don’t know how this video hasn’t come up in my feed until now, but I’m thankful for it! I always loved the Canadian Beast!

Got to meet this dude as a kid, most humble and pure hearted person youll meet

There is about the nicest Canadian Mullet I have ever seen @ 6:50. Jay Miron is my childhood Hero! I used to pick up BMX PLUS, religiously.
this is my idol man. so glad I found this video. Jay is a legend and i know he could have picked up anything and mastered it. so it comes as no surprise but feels good to see him still prosperous.
I remember watching him ride dirt, street, and vert , jay and Dave are my favorite riders.
Always one of my favorite riders. His part in road fools 5 was so sick. I had two of his Macneil frames over the years. One of the greatest

Jay Miron just an overall inspiration in my life
Jay just living his best life... Respect.
Awesome. So nice to see this about Jay
Wow . I remember the double backflip in 97 on extraordinary with John Ritter. Your a legend bro. I'm glad you're well and doing good!
I was a huge fan of Jay Miron back in the day. He was robbed out of so many golds.
Such an important story and who other to identify and cover it than Stew J. Jay you are a legend I am a huge fan of your riding and i love the way you described these two things as the same, I see it too man! Absolute fan. Great video!
This is amazing! Still such an inspiration and what a legend.
Thanks Josh!

Jay, you’re the man on so many levels. Cheers and wishing you continued success! 🙏🏼
Best of all time
And every once and a while Dave and Jay come out for a ride at Hastings park

The only problem with this video is that it wasn't long enough.
Great to know Jay's still as creative and inspirational as he always was on a bike, if not more so. Thanks for such an awesome story!
Mi héroe. Gracias ESPN
Glad you found happiness after BMX. Good for you Jay!

Awesome to hear. Unfortunately we don't see enough MacNeils on the road these days.
saw this guy tear it up in mts palms spring when in gs dad took me and instantly liked bmx
Awesome video! It's so striking that careers can look so different on the surface, but internally it can give a similar meaning to one's life.
Real deep liver. Meet him going in the pool at the second floor at taz in montreal in 2009. This guy is a hero.
GOAT.🙏🏻💯
Ever the inspiration!
My god my child hood !!!!
I remember watching jay growing up one of the most underrated riders EVER

We'll have to find it.

Bout time x-games put some respect on Miron’s name. Remember when y’all wouldn’t even show his runs b/c it was all about the miracle boy? RIP MIRRA
You can never have too many clamps!
BIG LEGEND JAY MIRON
REAL BMX!!!
Right on. Canadian Beast.
Amazing work man
Miron cemented his name in BMX.
The Canadian Beast!!! As a kid I had that red Schwinn bike on the cover of BMX plus, and it was way... way overbuilt. Triple wall and heavy duty everything. Now I know why! Jay Miron shreds!!
The beast..thought you were from thunder bay eh?
The only thing missing on O.J. Miron is the megaramp or some basejumps etc
Schwinn team was stacked back in the day
In the American Muscle days? Just bonkers!
Incredibly stacked. So was MacNeil.
Awesome
