    This song brings back the most precious memories in my life. Every Sunday my family would go to my grandma's house to spend the day with each other, huge backyard where my cousins and I had a blast playing while our TIa's and Tio's play cards and barbecuing while listening to oldies til it was time to go home. Malo, War, Average White Band, Aaron Neville, Brenda and the Tabulations, Paul Anka and you get the picture. 🎶❤🍻

    I wish Malo had more Top-40 hits than just this one, but “Suavecito” is certainly one for the ages. This was a real band making music, way long before computer technology came along in the recording studios.

    • @theczar3290
      @theczar3290 Před rokem

      Agreed. Hate to say, but technology really really has been detrimental to society and music, especially. People had to actually make not only an effort to learning to play an instrument but get their sound out. Phones and social media make it easy to even those who are naturally talented, they just want to make put out a video of them singing on tiktok, instead of joining groups and trying to make it or get their sound out.

  • @sallywright6523
    @sallywright6523 Před 3 lety +140

      +Art Alcatraz Gen X,Y Z, & Millennials don't have the gift of what we know what Rhythmically, Acoustically, Lyrically, and Melodically made sense. There was a time Arranger's wrote each piece of Music, for each Instrument Player. I know there are kids in school that play in Band, and have that understanding. A lot of folks wondered how Neil Sedaka got all those Harmonies in some of his songs... 4,8,12,16 part Mixdown and re record his own vocals. I thought he had 3 or 4 singers behind him. There will be less music for us, and even less for generations to come. Well, I sort of see it that way, I hope I'm wrong... I was raised by the Greatest Generation, a Boomer I am, and I learned to actually Like and dance my Mom and Dad's Music. I even learned to dance to it. Time to dust off my dance Spats.

    This brings many memories. I was in HS with my 2 sisters and brother. At lunch time, everybody took turns putting 10 cents for this song. My younger, who later became a fighting Marine, was in 8th grade in the next building. I was on the track team where I got 2nd place in the 1 mile in District.

    When this song came out in '72 people listen their radios without headphones and I remember being at the beach tuned into the same radio station playing this song so as I walked along you could hear just slightly and all the while I walked it was like one long continuous play on all those tiny radios....It was MAGICAL!!!

      I went to mission high when jorge was there playing at the talent shows etc. I believe carlos had left already when I got there in 67. I went to everett jr high before that with the guy who wrote this song and one of the founders of the malibus/ malo. His name is abel zarate and he's a great guitar player. Those were the days. The music will last forever. A guy named oj simpson went to everett back then too.

    Does anyone recognize a young Raul Rekow on congas?
    Amazing, the young player that went on to perform with Santana around the world for many years.
    I think he joined for Moonflower all the way to Corazon: 1976-2015.
    Great to see him here. Wonderful guy, extraordinary conga player.
