- In this video I explain what torque is and explain a key formula on the path to understanding how to calculate torque for a motor.
This video is designed to help learners studying Electrical Installation courses including the City and Guilds 2365, 5357 and 8202, as well as the EAL Diplomna in Electrical Installation.

Your tutorials are brilliant, thank you presenting such informative videos.
Great this question entar my mind today during my lesson so u are indeed alive on the student mind wish u all the 🙌
Thank you
Hey joy, it's ice and clear vedio.
Wonderful explanation as always sir👍
Thank you!
Well explained Joe
Thanks Matt. 👍
Hey Joe, Can you explain what Nominal Torque, Rated Torque, Peak Torque, Max Continuous Torque means ??? Thanks...
Thanks Joe. The concept of what a metre is simple enough but are you going to give us a real world example of what a Newton is in future videos?
You're welcome, hopefully next Sunday's video will give you a rough idea of what a Newton is, when we consider mass and weight.
Great video Joe.
Can you show were in BS7671 it says that we have to do the screws on a consumer unit to a persific torque and we must use a torque screwdriver? It doesn't it does however say that it is good practice to install equipment to the manufacturers recommendation /instructions.
Thanks Sean, I think you've answered your own question there matey. 👍

Is it more for those who do on of the compitant person skeam courses ie two day and five day courses were they have NOT had the proper training and don't have the experience, so to make sure they are installing CUs properly and safely the torque screwdriver is being pushed?.
I am just thinking out loud. I have no problem with torque screwdriver
I just don't get the high price and why I have to spend my hard earned cash on one then more to get the dam thing calibrated? If people choose to use them that's fine by me it's there choice.
@@seandempsey9396 I suppose it's more about about complying with manufacturer’s instructions. You could make the same argument for test equipment really, most experienced sparks don't produce circuits where continuity or insulation resistance is a problem but you test to make sure that if anything goes wrong down the line you've covered your back. An MFT is also not cheap and needs calibrating but it's part of confirming the circuits are safe and covers your back. Same with a torgue driver. 👍
@@JoeRobinsonTraining 👍yes and that makes sense, thank you Joe
SI units rule :). When will the US start using them? It makes so much more sense when you use them for calculations
Hi firrst one to like and comment joe
Thanks for commenting!

Even though the content of the video is excellent, the way you pronounce "τ" bothers me a lot! Kindly saying τ=ταφ=taf
My apologies Stavros, I think the way I say it is the older way of saying it that was adopted by science for concepts like this, might be difficult to break the habit of a lifetime. 😬
