Every smile, every kindness, and the selfless act was not the result of generosity, but rather a planned business move. Being at a crossroads, a wojak must choose whether to follow the voice of morality or rather devour old ideals in order to accumulate as much money as possible before his career flame burns out.

iirc it was when CZcams income changed views so that you had to watch the whole thing and it had to be over 10 minutes long. A lot of art channels like animation and memes went under as a result. Others just grew up and never came back

Saddening, because I dont think the majority start that way. I had an old channel where I became obsessed with numbers once I passed 200 subs (which isnt a lot to most, but that's insane to me). I stopped enjoying it. Cant imagine how it is for people with millions.
Sadly, this video is relatable even for a small youtuber like me. The first time one of your videos gets recommended in the algorithm, and gets 100k+ views, it can be incredibly tempting to piggyback off that video and become a one-trick pony making the same video for years. So many channels have seen success becoming dedicated to one game or trend, making bank for one or two years, then fading into obscurity.
But what's the alternative? Continue to make videos you are passionate about that nobody watches? And it only gets worse when you have a sizable audience because of how the algorithm works. If I make a video that none of my own audience watches, it never gets recommended to other people. CZcams has forced creators to stagnate their own content this way.
When CZcams turns into a business for you, that begins the slow death of your channel. Even if the millions of children on this platform can't tell, the adults and even a lot of teens can tell when you've lost passion for what you're doing, and stop watching. Even if you're making more money than ever, you've sold your soul in the process and are no better than cable television which many of us replaced with CZcams in the first place. I miss the days of Filthy Frank when people clearly made content for fun instead of money.

Great to see you here. Im a sub/fan of your channel and you are most welcome. I enjoy the content you put out. "cable television which many of us replaced with CZcams in the first place." That is the truth for me as well. I caught on to it the end of 2006 which was the same year I purchased my first computer. Was 27 at the time and time has flown the F by lol.
Like you I absolutely loved youtube in its beginning years more so than now for sure. Id say the Golden age of the internet in my experience was roughly 2006-2011 or thereabouts. I cant say for earlier years if it was better or not. My first internet was dial up and played Everquest Online adventures with the network adapter that you had to screw into the Playstation 2 back in 2002 haha. "High speed" internet wasnt widely available where Im from til around 2005-2006. Anyway, Id still like to see a collab with you and Ptolemy! I have no idea why and Ive suggested it before but it just seems like it would be a good fit or just work (no Todd Howard, not that "just works") Take care.

I think from the creator perspective if multiple people are clicking a button it turns into smashing because it gets hits several times a second overall.
Single person can't smash like button because you can only click once and second click removes your like. so that way you can only refer to big audience.

Small youtubers are great but its hard to find them.
A huge underrated youtuber I watch and still watch to this day (He's still alive, but he's busy because he's pursuing more important priorates now, but he claim's he will be back when the opportunity is given) is the gaming youtube channel MrGStar321, very underrated good youtuber because one of the best series he has is his mortal kombat game videos and personally, I think he dominates playing horror games like Cry of Fear, Silent Hill and Return to Castle Wolfenstein (One of my favorites to watch him play personally). The best part about it is that he doesn't ask for money and wants his viewers to enjoy his content, he rages sometimes when he plays certain games, but all around, he really puts time into his videos and ultimately I wish people would discover him more

This video hits me so hard. I remember the time I wanted to be a youtuber cause I used to see how all these people would have fun and make alot of money in there videos but as time goes by I slowly saw the dark true story of this platform and its very heartbreaking.
If you made video back before Google take over (back before 2010), I would been your loyal fan and watch your video everytime you upload anything if they were good. I still have 2 or 3 youtubers who still upload videos but got less than 50 views to this day. Just say that I am their loyal fan. I guess they don't really care about "views" or monetization and just want to leave a video of the game they were playing was a strange foreign game that no one has heard of as a mark in history or until CZcams shut down forever.
Same, wanted to start making gmod videos, but when i realised how frustratingly hard to make those I dropped the idea.
This video opened a lot more eyes for me. While, yes, everyone needs money, but nowadays it's really hard to tell which one does it for fun and which does it just for business.

Informative but entertaining videos which the creators arent there for click-money . They even refusr to say the typical "Like, comment, subscribe and click the bell icon"-banter you see in too many trash-tubers .
They have around 200-300k subs and its their hobby . Personality stays while popularity kills in a short time .
if you like Civvie check out Ross Scott too, he's probably one of the most interesting video-makers around and his kinds of videos are similar to what Civvie does

I've felt this way about youtubers for years. Or at least most of them. So easy to see through the facade of an always happy, kind and morally upstanding person. Just like regular celebrities most are driven by money and fame. I suppose the reason it's more intimate on CZcams is its very nature, but these people can be just as cold and apathetic as most, it just hurts more because they prey on those who need socialization the most. Parasocial relationships.
Love listening to these with headphones I think imagining the scenes makes the impact even greater but I'll go back and watch the animation occasionally

I thought about becoming a CZcamsr on mechanics.
But ai didn't really feel like recording every repair I did.
I don't have an issue with "how to" or people just wanting to get into a skill or doing it as a hobby.
I have more against the ones that upload garbage content everyday.
Whether it's playing a COD match or doing some stupid joke that turns out to be nothing but click bait.
I also don't like when I have to see people that call themselves mechanics, but have no skill doing it and gave no drive to learn.
