Several years back I bought 21 of the hummer trailers at a military surplus auction. Average price was $279.00 each delivered. I sold the combat rims with the 16.5" tires for any where from $200.00 each to $350.00 each. The axles would take a standard 16" Dodge or G.M. product 8 lug rim. Got those for $10.00 each from a local you pull it yard.16" tires I got for free: anything over 10 years old were in a pile and yard said take all I wanted. Had my own Coats tire machine so mounting was free. With the 16" tires and wheels I sold the trailer for $1200.00 each. If still with the 16.5" combat rims and tires they sold for $2000.00 each. Buyers had hummers and wanted the correct trailer of they had Jeeps and wanted a "cool" trailer. People are rather strange: trailers were nice but too small to really haul much.

Good to see your video Blake. Been here for quite some time and appreciate when you are able to share one with us. Take care. Praise the Lord no one crossed the path of that moving wheel/tire. That could have been a painful experience for sure.

Great video. I've never worked on any of the M35 series trucks. I have worked on the M900 series 5 ton trucks. My guess is that booster compressor is toast and needs replacing or rebuilding. My dream surplus truck is a Oshkosh M1070 8x8. Sadly I don't got $75K to throw at a decent one.

Check the unloader value on the air compressor. It is what allows the compressor to build air.

At first when you lost the wheel, I thought the spindle snapped off or something another catastrophic failure. Do you know if there was any evidence of a cotter pin, spindle nut and washer??
That stuff missing seems the only explanation for that wheel coming off, and that's way beyond just poor maintenance of not greasing bearings.
You and the drivers around you were really lucky, that lose tire/rim could have done some real nasty damage!!!

I wouldn't condemn the air comp. just yet.
First remove the line going to the gov.
If it builds air, it's a bad or stuck Gov.
If it don't then the comp. is bad or possibly stuck unloader valve.
Also make sure rear glad hand valves are closed and no other air leaking from some were else.
