      I have loads of respect and appreciation for his ideas and creativity, but I've never been an industrial fan and this is the closest thing to noise instead of music. I saw Author & Punisher live this year opening for tool and I couldn't even hear his vocals it was that noisy and loud. But knowing that he's a mechanical engineer and he invented his own instruments, he's got a huge brain for sure

    • @mathewreed818

      I had the unfortunate opportunity to hear this while opening up for tool. This is by far the worst “music” I’ve ever heard in my life. Most people left their seats and went to the common areas for relief. Because it was so bad, I researched him. After research, I gained respect for his innovation. It doesn’t change the fact that this “music” is repulsive.

      I remember the old industrial music shows back in the 80's. You would often see racks of synthesizers mixed with metal objects and home made equipment. It was VERY common. Nowadays, you go to an electronic music show, or an industrial music show, and you typically see a guy with a laptop, a folding table, a mixer, and maybe a keyboard controller if you're lucky and you RARELY will even see a synthesizer or home built junk (with the exception of the really fringe noise scene). A show like "Author & Punisher" is such a refreshing combination of new + oldschool. I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen something like this back in the 80's when I was a teenager.

    • @Scyber_Official
      @Scyber_Official Před 7 lety +1

      Check out Street Sects - 90s style industrial mixed with a live performance of sensory deprivation due to fog machines and incense along with their pounding hardcore industrial music, makes them an uneasy yet very fascinating new band.
      I posted a quick video of their live performance in Milwaukee on my page.

    • @BlackburnBigdragon
      @BlackburnBigdragon Před 7 lety

      I miss bands like Einsturzende Neubouten, or Test Department, where you would just go to their shows and they would just have a damn junkyard on the stage and it wouldn't sound like a junkyard. They would just get amazing, strange, sounds out of that crap and actually get songs out of it. You just don't see that any more. That's what I mean. I really miss stuff like that. All the clanging and banging, Using real equipment and machines to make sounds and noises. I'm tired of this throbbing techno influence crap that infected industrial in the 90's. That aspect never seems to have gone away either. Most industrial now seems to have a hardcore house music influence like it came out of the clubs of Detroit but got turned up 10000 notches. That's not what I'm into. My scene was the early 80's industrial scene. There's not much beyond the 80's that I've found that I can get into with a few exceptions (and I've looked). Wolf Eyes isn't bad. They kind of carry the torch... but they're kind of getting boring right now. They lost something after Dilloway left.

    Relistening to this reminds me of driving home in a blizzard after work while being depressed asf and once I got to my destination I stayed in the vehicle to finish this experience. Thank you A&P

    This is the sound of the future. I like how he made his own instruments and made something unique. In todays music world where everything is calculated and to be easily accessible to everybody, this guy is like Don Quixote fighting the windmills and going on his way not giving a care. And for that you gotta respect the guy. Hopefully would catch him on one of the live tours he has in EU...

      I saw him open for tool. Most people left their seats during A&P because they couldn’t stand it. I think tool was very strategic with their opener. You can’t fail when your opening act is literally the worst music anyone there has ever heard. He certainly punished about 30,000 people that day.

My pals told Tristan, about my leg disabilities (they told my leg was broken, it was as not, it definitely effd up) and Mr Tristan signed Pressure Mine LP. Thank you Mr Shone. Cheers from Russia).

    Imagine browsing the vinyls at half price books and you stumble across a mint copy of Ursus Americanus. Looks way too interesting to pass up for $10 so you take the gamble and buy it. You drop the needle when you get home and you're absolutely blown away. You now wonder what else has been missing in your life...
