    Please , make sure you have all the required welding equipment , Safety Goggles , Helmet , Head scarf , Fire resistant long sleeve shirt , Leather apron , Welding gloves , Jeans and Leather wook boots . Then there are tools , but I'm not going to get into those . If you want to teach and train anyone how to do certain things , Be a good example and show them how to do it properly . I know you mean well , but too many people are getting the wrong information and are going to hurt themselves or others doing things unsafe . Example ; Someone comes by snd stares at the arc and later on complains about their eyes hurting . I have to constantly remind people not to watch the arc . People like to see spsrks ! Hopefully you will use all of your safety equipment . I'm didn't get everything at the same time , just one thing at a time and eventually I have them all , oh yeah ; Respirator too , to protect your lungs from the fumes . Thank you for the video . 😊

      @@JessLehmanThere’s a difference between accepting the risks and putting yourself at risk. You have a lot to lose. It is it going to be a matter of if you get injured, it’s going to be a matter of when you get injured. You deserve better than that. Treat yourself better than that.

    Brilliant video for thin metal 0.9mm using this continuous weld, would it warp the panel, so would it be better on and off on the trigger, like spot welds. Thanks

    • @JessLehman
      @JessLehman  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes! With any sheet metal the consensus is not to weld the entire length of the panel. Take your time, don't weld too much at once. The heat causes it to warp quite quickly.

    The first step is to make sure you have long sleeves and the proper welding gloves. No, it’s not an excuse to say; “I’m only tacking!”. UV exposure is cumulative. It’s cancerous. I do like the glue. It’s different.

      @@JessLehman yeah it has to be pretty hot to bother me too, but I was playing with my new flux welder, no gloves or leathers all day showing my son, and never even thought twice about it, because I was just tack welding little spots to see if I had the right gauge steel to weld what we wanted to fix before I got welding the real thing... so gloves meh, besides it only really matters in tig welding when you ark to the rod and shock yourself half to death in my experience haha

    • @JessLehman
      @JessLehman  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Mask, a fan, or weld outside and keep your face out of the smoke. Flux smoke can cause iron deposits in the lungs

    • @markmcleod5079
      @markmcleod5079 Před měsícem

      Good safety note about the iron deposits. There's some guy here on CZcams that has a couple videos entitled something like "5 Ways/5 More Ways to Not Kill Yourself with a Welder" which are full of good safety info. Got to wear a good welding helmet/mask to protect your eyes from the concentrated UV light. At HF, you can spend more on a premium auto darkening helmet than a low end (read "beginner") welder, but there's always a sale or coupon around the next corner, if you're willing to wait.

    As someone who flux-core welds a lot.. a boringly lot.. work... my onlyish "Top Tip" would be to disregard any wire size below 1mm .. dunno what that is in American, 5 58ths or some such nonsense - flux core wire below 1mm (5/58ths?) doesn't weld gud. 1mm welds gud. Thin sheet/thicker steel - 1mm. Always 1mm...
    My second (2ndts) "Tip Top" would be to buy either a Yeswelder or a Hitbox machine - having bought every flavour of machine going because we use them at work & the "Let's buy another welder!" Budget is solid, I've settled on those 2 as being the best, regardless of purchase cost. My last Tap Tup is buy gud gloves. Flux core runs hot & throws off lots of hot - good gloves make it less ouchy.
    The lastest Hop Pip is "Wire wheel yer welds!" - right after you lay them - flux core erm, flux, is corrosive & rusts steel faster than sea water - you need to remove it pronto. There's 2 main ways - a wire brush wheel in a cordless drill (Boringly slow) or an angle grinder with a wire wheel fitted - use the angle grinder, the drill version is ok for tight spots, but would bore a hole in a rockinghorses behind if there's any real volume of weld to clean.
    Follow these simpleish tips & yer Granny can be running FCW like a Boss - it's just gasless monkey-wire after all. Same same but different. There's also loads of flavours of wire you can buy - most are ABSOLUTE pish & will make you/your Granny think its you, not it, when your welds look crap - its it, not you. Same Rule applies - Yewelder or Hitbox flux core wire - or Super 6 if you can get it - are the only brands I bother buying. Super 6 is my fave, but it's like the rockinghorse poo that comes out the hole the drill/brush combo bored. Scarce.
    Other "Hint" is treat your welds with a corrosion inhibitor - this schidt ought be pay to read.... - the World is full of "Corrosion Inhibitors" however most are like the majority of flux-core wire brands - rubbish... There's only one decent corrosion inhibitor on the market, it's expensive but it's also brilliant. Brush it on, forget about it. The hardest part is paying for it. I'd tell you what it is, but then I'd have to off you.. I've said enough. Go weld something.
