Thanks for the video and I should also say it's great to see you answering comments and not afraid to admit that you are still learning, as we all are or at least always should be. I own the original Condor Heavy Duty Kukri and I love it! It's size and weight are obviously not for everyone and I completely agree about the handle size. I was debating on waiting for the K-Tact but I got the original HD for $69.99. So for about half the price I am happy with the leather sheath and wood handle. My current system also includes the Condor Mini Matagi and Mora Eldris.
One last thing everyone should know is Condor has a lifetime guarantee. I even saw a story where a youtuber got a used Bushlore (I think) from eBay that had a hairline crack or defect in the blade and Condor replaced it for him! This is really what made me pull the trigger and buy two Condor knives. Almost a year later now, I am happy I did ;)

Great video. I'm in 100% percent in agreement on the 2 knife system every fixed blade I own is a piggy back system. Sometime it takes time to find a small blade that works or should I say looks good been doing this now for some time 74 now did the first one when I was 9years old ,putting my boy scout knife with my home made blade my dad made for me from a file the piggy back is the only way to go you always have what you need at arms length never a disapointment . Happy trails young man .

I just finished piggy backing a cold steel pendlton to my SRK I just think lots of manufacturer are missing the boat on piggy backs . the SRK and my nighthawk are the only tactical type knives I own and am happy with both but all the other blades are western style knives my Night hawk is recurve not kukri but it's a beast of a blade did chnge the blade geometry up by the handle for small work .happy trails .

I love Khukuris, Infact I have (2) Khukuris, both are the Himalayan Imports M-43's, a Larger one and I had a Smaller one made so I can carry it in the bush easier. But the Sheath's are inpractratable. I also have a Cold Steel Kukuri Plus, I like the Sheath alot better. Infact I team it with one of my Master Hunter's in the San Mai 3. But then I got an idea to have a Straight Kukuri made, so I can also use it as a large knife, but also to use as a Hatchet, Yup, I named it my Paul'ies Delight. It's awesome. I just got back from our weekender, it shined, although I brought my Council 24" Wood Craft Pack Axe, and my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw. I love the fact that you are now showing System's. I run the K-tac kukri and the Benchmade 200 puuko it's the perfect size of what you were describing and it's 3v steel for a reasonable price

It's got a kydex sheath you don't even need a snap button on it and he says it opens too easy but that's actually a good thing
Regarding using the fire-steel= You can place the fire-steel on the log and strike with the kukri or cut grooves in the spine to engage the fire-steel, in all great blade! I have the previous version of this kukri but i may get this version for the pommel.
I use a ceramic rod for sharpening too.
A machete + a Mora is my preferred combination. Of the many variations of that I've tried, the Cold Steel Jungle Machete + the Mora Kansbol may be my favorite - big chopping power + superb fine carving capability + great ergonomics on both + excellent carry options on both. I've also been enjoying the Cold Steel Mini Pendleton Hunter as an EDC fixed blade, and I think it would make a good smaller blade to pair with a machete. Even though it's only a 3" blade, the handle is just big enough for a full grip and it's really ergonomic, so it ends up being very useful for most fine tasks. I have a Cold Steel Royal Kukri Machete on the way, so I'll see how that combination works out.

I've only seen positive reviews of it, and unlike the other CS "kukri machetes" it closely approximates a traditional kukri in its shape, so I expect it will have even more chopping power than its predecessors do (and they DO chop). I suspect the companion knife will be more necessary with it though because it doesn't look like it would handle fine tasks well. I'll know for sure when I have it in hand.

Good video thanks for sharing, Kukri has always looked to be cumbersome... But I'm sure they are a good multifunctional tool.... I've tried a few systems, but I find the one that works for me is the GSO 4.1 (New spec) And the Schrade schf64. I live in a sub arctic environment so the trees aren't very big in diameter, So the Schrade makes a good light chopper for my needs

Those 2-step degrees are not meant for your knife spine. Those are for the edge lol. Who tought you to use that honing steel lol?
What is the brand of sharpening steel you used? I haven't seen one marketed with the angle guides yours has.
Tim there's an easy fix in many cases for the loose kydex I've fixed some sheaths for people with the same problem . Just by making a larger leather washer using a chacago screw in the rivet hole allowing the washer to apply pressure on the kydex seems to have done the trick . Also on the kukri sheath don't like the snaps on the out side of the dangler to easy to get snagged and opened need to be flip so there on the inside of the belt it's a pain to unsnap but that's the idea not to un snap have also done this for friends in the past . I love Condor knives but I have yet to get one with a sharp edge. They tend to need some sharpening, but once you get a cool edge on them, I'd put them up against much of the more expensive blades. As for any mini Kukri designs, I personally wouldn't waste any time on them. If I wanted a good detail knife, I'd just pair up my chopper, in this case the kukri, with something like a Mora or traditional Buck folder. But then again, every one has their own system that works great for them.
Yeah - that seems to be an issue for Condor - not sending well-sharpened knives.
Prefer something like the ESEE CR2.5 as a small knife. It gives you a full grip in your hand with a smaller blade. Three finger grips get uncomfortable with long term use.
Thanks for great review. I’m going to chose between this and bk 21. Honestly I like this one appearance way more than bk 21. But I kinda guess bk 21 performs better. Tim, just a hint, if you want to keep a good edge on that nice kukri, you should check out a few videos on 'recurve edge sharpening', there is a surprising amount of technique to sharpening them

ESEE Ashley Game Knife is a far superior for a Nessmuk. Long handle and incredibly comfortable to skin a buck, so small tasks like that are a breeze also. Yeah, years too late 😂

I've been having thoughts of deploying this Kuk as a bushwhacker, while clearing storm damage. Did you make any attempts at trail clearing?
Mine arrived recently. Not sure what you are looking for but I'll say this. Its much heavier than a machete. So if you need a machete, get one because it will fatigue you less than using this, heavier tool. However, this kukri is built like a tank. With a sharpening stone, a fine bastard file and honing rod, you can do anything with it. The front* section of the blade works like an axe. Nearer the handle you can profile it like a razor. I think this is one of the rare knife designs that you could use to chop down a tree, and then later cut the cotton you are using to darn your socks. Its a brilliant tool.
Im from the UK, and our Gurkha regiments are recruited from Nepal, and they carry kukris into battle. There is a lot of myth and propaganda about the legendary kukri design, but now I have my hands on one I understand that they dont carry them instead of a knife just for show. Its basically a compromise between an axe, machete and knife. Because the blade is profiled differently at different points, it is one of the rare tools that you can use to fell a small tree, AND use for normal knife tasks.
Honestly dude, mine is a thing of beauty. Heavy? sure. But its lighter than carrying a hatchet, camp knife, and craft knife.
I have a small knife with a leather sheath that I ran paracord through the belt loop so I could wear it as a neck knife, the handle is up and blade tip is down, maybe this idea would work for you?

I like the knives but something I want to point out... Last thing I want around my neck possibly going through thick underbrush and possibly tripping and falling is a knife... Just my opinion

Two things first the positive the kukri looks very good especially the handle with the flare. The little knife have a little to small handle for me. The sheaths can be made tighter with a hairdryer. Both knives i think would be better with a very slack convex grind near zero grind with a sturdy convex at the very edge for example making the kukri at 0.025 behind the edge. And the little one 0.010 behind the edge
The second thing and dont mean this rude but why sharpen at 20 then 15??? You are setting the bevel at 20 then just basically knocking the shoulders a little of at 15 since its a more shallow angle.
Would be much better to thin the kukri at say 12 or 15 per side then have the very apex of the edge at 20 per side or maake it convex for example with the work sharp blade grinding attachment.

I appreciate your video and the information. I respect the effort. I will say that so many people just hack away when chopping hitting the edge time and again into the same spot on the wood, essentially making the same cut over and over again. That brach and the other work you did there could have been done in half the time it took you simply because you didn't cut and reverse cut, additionally I could just see the dirt kicking up and making that blade dull with every strike. You cant really evaluate a chopper with piece of wood bouncing on the ground. Every chopping tool needs the wood being chopped to be properly on some support. just saying. The toollooks half as effective as im sure it is and the hand that does that work against loose material is twice as tired as it needs to be.
I don't get how you could sharpen at 20deg then 15deg. Wouldn't it be the other way around, the bevel at 15 deg then micro bevel at 20deg?

Ah, me too, I'm just repeating what I've read guys on sharpening forums write about. They are pretty keen on their micro bevels. I've done a similar thing before where I had a feeling I was putting a convex on the edge bevel with my technique and was making the actual edge steeper that what I intended/making it less slicey. So I dropped my sharpening angle to compensate and it seemed to create the desired angle at the "micro bevel" of sorts.
EverydayTacticalVids it would chop even better if you kept the convex edge...the way you sharpned it took the convext off. You should also sharpen with a whetdtone set going from 600-1000 grit instead of a rod

Handle is micarta not wood, sheath is kydex not micarta plus a steel pommel. Other than that the same.

Yes, Condor kukri handle is too big for people with small-medium size hand, and this knife is heavier than some hatche or handaxe... But axe just work much better for chopping...Kukri just can't beat a dry hard wood

'Cleaning a fish after you catch it'? Ever tried cleaning one before you catch it? LOL. Honing is not sharpening. I do fully agree on the system you are talking about. For me a small camp knife as main knife and a larger one for heavy duty tasks.
The kukri I think is overrated and really not that useful in the bush. I do like the shape and history of the blade but that's something completely different from being useful.

Could a kukri replace an axe? I was thinking of getting an axe for my emergency system but now I see this knife and am very impressed... though I'm a woman with rather small hands but I can't imagine the handle is much bigger around then an axe handle.
A kukri is a good chopper, but it's not going to be able to do what an axe does.

Just saying: geometrically, if you sharpen something to 20 degrees, and then switch to a 15 degree angle, the stone will not be touching the edge at the 15 degree angle -- it will be doing nothing. EDIT: Also, at time 2:22 you're holding the knife vs stone UPSIDE DOWN, lol. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean to you, but you should look into the topic of knife sharpening a little further. There are LOTS of good youtube videos discussing it. Thanks for the video, in any case. I'm interested in the knife, and I think you made a good choice with it.
Most knives come dull to the door. It costs time and thus money to sharpen dcently. Youll pay more for a sharp knife.
KUKRI KNIVES BETTER COME WITH LARGE HANDLES TO PREVENT THE USER'S HAND FROM EASILY SLIPPING DOWN INTO THE BLADE. THIS COULD END IN A CATASTROPHE CONSIDERING THE SHAPE OF THE BLADE AND THE DEEP CUTTING IT PRODUCES.

This blade is 1075... How about 1095 vs 1075 let the war begin.
they both rust would have been much better it they used titanium. reduced the weight, eliminate corrosion, and the edge retention would have been huge.
Reduce the weight on a chopper. Ok I will leave some time to think about that whole line of reasoning.
Also titanium would make these much more expensive.

If you have small/medium size hand, DON'T BUY THIS KUKRI
Learn about your knife and its configuration before you review it. You don't straight chop with a kukri, you follow through letting the curve do some work.
Silly design, doesnt really do anything particularly well, its heavy, weird looking and loads of other knives do things better.
