Believe it or not, their uniform was way worse at the beginning of the war; the French wore a brighter blue uniform with red linings and a bright cap which was a perfect target for machine guns.
Jesus....this actually seems to give a decently accurate depiction of what it might have been like to be there...charging ahead into absolute chaos and uncertainty, unsure of where the enemy is, hearing gunshots and seeing (and feeling) artillery shells exploding nearby, seeing your mates get hit in a spray of blood and guts...crazy
Add 3 or 4 extra heavy machine guns per km plus ten's of arty, plus hand grenades, gaze and dense network of barbed wires... I'd imagine it will, they've got the basis of a rathet dynamic gore system, but remember this is first release alpha gameplay here so only more to come! I agree though the main immersion breaker to me is the lack of the soldiers saying anything or making much of a sound even when shot or blasted by a shell. Understanding that it's to focus on push to talk comms but the immersion factor is still important
I was always disappointed in BF1 (my favorite game ever btw) multiplayer only because I so badly wanted to play a little more historically correct with majority bolt action and shotgun VS as opposed to all the sub machine guns that were not nearly as widely used. this game looks absolutely amazing.
@Joe Right now they need to fixe the french uniforms and fix the lebel rifle loading animations, cause neither of them look accurate. Like compare the reloading animation in this to bf1. Also compare the uniforms. BF1's were more accurate
Game really shines when players actually work together instead of camping in the bushes like most youtubers i hope the devs put more emphasis on teamplay and bayonet charges, making the squads bigger would also help
my anxiety was being triggered at the start when you guys were staying put in no mans land getting shelled, i was screaming in my head 'move move move!' lol just keep sprinting forward and flop down prone from shell-hole to shell-hole, rinse and repeat. it's always harder to hit a moving target for a defender.
That first push was awesome with people getting shot all around you, that grenade that landed next to the squad leader he was like Grenade!! You turned around and he been blown to bits lol. I have this game but I love watching vids of it too its so good for content. I am currently making a vid on it should be up tomorrow hopefully lol. I hope to see you on the battlefield.
Well when you think about it, trench warfare does involve a lot of CQB when you're attacking the enemy trench, there's a reason weapons like trench clubs and spades were a thing. The prelude of waiting for the artillery barrage and scanning the horizon for heads wouldn't make for very engaging gameplay.
Trenches were just covers to stay hidden from ennemy bullets most of the combats were in the trenches (cqb) or one team shooting in their trenches while the other push to their trench ,
Looks amazing. It seems like it must be pretty immersive as I'm so used to you being very calm and cool in PS vids, but in this you sounded like it was pretty 'stressfull'.
@4:41 that looks awesome and harrowing at the same time! Imagine being in that situation, seeing your mate getting blown to bits by artillery as you go over the top toward death! I wish this was available on console 😔
holy cow the death mechanic is terrifying. i actually jumped in my seat when you died for the first time, like it doesn't jump you out to 3rd person you just go black.. dang
The reloading animation is wrong, and the "safety" that the guy flicks when you change weapons is actually the cutoff switch on the Lebel (which has no safety). Also, the helmets have a very strange colour, they look cartoony compared to authentic ww1 Adrian helmets...
@@hmmmhmmm6178 I know, I own a WW1 French Adrian, what I meant is that the game's blue is way too intense IMO, the real helmets were more subdued (not to mention covered with mud, whereas the uniforms ingame are pristine). Hey Vade, your FPS seems really low on the top, like 35-40. It doesn't seem like that though, I would say 60-70, best guess. I know the game is in WIP state but how do you feel about the performance?
in games like this, low FPS don't matter much, since everything are slow paced, the slow movement blends in well with low FPS. Similarly to Post SCriptum I have 35-55 FPS at most case, it's not an issue really, very playable.
Yeah, the frame rate is low but consistent. I'm sure Vade is putting on a show for us and cranking the graphics. If you turn things down you can get a nice frame rate
