  • In this video, I show how to determine the difference between Dequevain's Stenosing Tenosynovitis and Carpo-metacarpal Arthritis. This is important to note especially if you are considering having your patient injected. If you have all the symptoms described, do you have both?

a general laxity in wrist also another potential point to examine. arthiritis shows its nature as fcr tendinitis as well. so if you think you have de quervain and fcr tendonitis, you are a good cmc 1 oa candidate. if you played piano and guitar a lot, you become more and more prone. exposing hand to cold is another indicator to arthiritis that will cause a dull pain under thumb.

I've had dequevain's in the "mouse" hand (right) for about 16 months. I was treated with a cortisone injection a year ago and it worked well, but now the pain is back (not as bad as the first time). I also have a swelling of what I think is a bone on the radius just below the thumb (not too painfull to push on, but still painful). The Finklestein test is impossible, too painful.

Is it possible to operate the wrist with gouty Arthritis and remove the hard tissue that blocked the wrist to move up and down motion?

Good video comparing the conditions. I think that the test you did is actually Eichhoff's test, rather than Finkelstein's? Also, I thought that de Quervain's tenosynovitis was different (though similar) to stenosing tenosynovitis (trigger finger)?

Ortho EVAL Pal With Paul Marquis true and how tragic. one is treatable instantly, cut the tendon sheat and the other you have to pass 4 stages and be in pain until an operation to lose a carpal bone.

@@BT-km7nl totally with you on that. Have you tried the Push plus brace? We use them a lot with good success.

Ortho EVAL Pal With Paul Marquis yes i am using push brace everyday. however this doesn’t reflect success in my book. a success would be restore of function and “complete heal”. these conservative treatments are so pseudo medicine as i feel i am in medieval ages.

You can manage them somewhat the same. Treat conservatively with an OT.
