At the very beginning of my walk with Jesus, there was Barry McGuire. Every saturday night he was on a public channel singing about Jesus. LOVE YOU BARRY!!
I met Barry when I was a young man in 1973. I was part of a high school group led by John Fischer. I knew how to play a little guitar. Barry took the time to show me how to play a really cool strum that he liked to do. I still remember it to this day and have been involved with helping to lead worship in our local city mission. Its good to see the light in his eyes that still burns bright for the things of Christ. To this day he still ministers to my heart. He reminds me of a small child filled with excitement on Christmas morning.
how wonderful.
So glad to know Barry became a brother in Christ. The song he sang back in the 60s, Eve of Destruction, told of the problems but did not give the answer. Now Barry has the answer.
I was the same way - had no answers back then. Now I do. Thank you Lord Jesus.
How tall is the very tall man ?
Sounds as powerful as the first recording
I had the privilege of meeting him twice. First in about 1966 with the Randy Sparks New Christie Minstrels singing at Lagoon, Farmington Utah. I think that is when they released Green Green. Second time he was at a high school in Salt Lake City singing Christian songs. That's when I had him sign a few 33 1/3 LP's including "This Precious Time" and "Barry McGuire and the Doctor". He even mentioned that he didn't remember even making that album. Lol. Great Man.
Great to see and hear Barry! grew up listening to him. Wow, his words were speaking to me. What a storyteller also. Thanks for sharing
The Spirit burns within this guy.

Glad I finally stumbled across this, Thank you Gary and Barry! Wow!
Yeah and his name was Bary
In the early 80s as a new believer I was privileged to introduce Barry at a concert in Forum North Whangārei, Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Backstage when I told him come concert time, the audience hadn't quite got themselves seated let alone settled, he told me to go out there and get things going anyway with the words "If I was a plane, they'd have missed me."
That $50 Barry earned for singing in 1961 would be worth about $500 in 2023. That is pretty good for a guy just starting out who only knew 4 chords. Wow, nice story! At the 7:50 minute mark Barry explains that there is more murder today and more violence than in the 1960's. I agree and that proves we are probably near the end when Jesus returns...."as it was in the day of Noah so shall it be in the coming of the Son of man" said Jesus. Well, violence filled the earth in Noah's days. This is a sign his coming is quickly approaching.
The total gospel, to follow Jesus, is through confession and repentance. This is not my opinion. Repent and be baptized, if you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive your sins & cleanse from all unrighteousness. But anyone can come, whosoever will may come. Jesus died for all, but straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, and few there be that find it. There has to be an acknowledgement of sin, confession, repentance, and surrender to Jesus, your whole life, give it to Him, invite Him in by faith, He will come! There is no universal salvation. Only for those who come to Him on His terms, take up your cross and follow Him.
Barry you had me till your theology failed to line up with the truths of scripture. Christ says my sheep hear my voice . Is the entirety of mankind all Christ’s flock. Be a noble Berean and search the scriptures to see if this assertion you made is so.
I must have missed the theology you heard when I watched this. What did he say? All people are invited to accept Christ, just some do not. Did he say everyone is saved?
It’s common for folks to opine on personal interpretation of scripture. Unfortunately if we should stray, deviate, or otherwise speak falsely, may those words be forever forgotten and not come to mind again…. Universalism is one of those deviations.
