- Have you ever been admiring a beautiful script tattoo and thought, "Wait, something is off about this?" You try to see if it's the linework, maybe a rough heal and then it hits you over the head like a ton of bricks-there's a spelling mistake. We showed our panel of tattoo artists a ton of different script tattoos to see if they could catch any possible misspellings on the spot. Well come to the first annual Inked Spelling Bee.

We’re baaaaaack! We have a brand new cast and a whole new batch of questions for our panel of tattoo artists. This time around we’re going to be tackling all of the tough subjects-what should a tattooer never do, what kind of tattoo is a dealbreaker to spot on a first date and more. We even gave everybody a spelling test. Yeah, you heard me, a spelling test. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be a wild season!

The were focused on the cursive Q so much they didn’t notice the missing T in quanTity lol

thats what i was thinking too!! i think ppl assume cursive Qs are Ls or smth? Still shoulda chose a more legible cursive font that had the Q looking like a print Q tho imo lol

"fun" fact about the ending, alexander graham bell was a eugenicist who absolutely hated Deaf people and wanted them erased.
Bell's... Complicated. This is a fine reading of his history, not saying otherwise, but it can also be argued that he (through the lens of his day) largely wanted to help the Deaf. He had a Deaf wife, and this influenced his work. However, again, calling him a eugenicist is absolutely accurate
Also ironic is the fact that they were also talking about thomas Edison, who was actually Deaf
@@veggie9755 Did we turn this into a history channel? Oh man, I'd love that. The thing I always bristle at is how we always end up crediting the person who was savvy enough to race in and get a patent, even if they didn't do the critical work of actually inventing anything. Also, it's really fun to say "Alexander Graham Fucker."

@@whitetigergurl12 yeah in that time the idea was similar to mercy killing according to its proponents. both were then and are now unconscionable but popular opinion was a lot more ableist. i don't know about you but i wouldn't want to be in the room as someone who wanted people like me (whichever oppression that may be) to not exist, and i certainly wouldn't marry them.
The “Quality” was actually correct. I was taught that version of the cursive Q at elementary school actually. Definitely not commonly used tho.
It is actually incorrect. An uppercase Q in cursive looks like a 2. It has an open top part (not looping in on itself like in the tattoo) and a loop on the bottom.
The way it's written in the tattoo looks like a cursive L with a backwards top loop.
Also, Quantity was spelled incorrectly so that's a problem as well.

I was wondering the same. Always hearing them talk about their dyslexia.
I have a problem typing out sentences sometimes & Im an artist & sometimes I confuse letters & numbers

there were a ton of dyslexic kids in my college design program (enough that we talked about this ourselves) so even if there isn't an official study on it...I think there probably is something there

As a South African I am very amused that they know how we swear. Also not surprised that they know cause if there's one thing a South African will teach you to say, it's local swear words (and then maybe "Ons gaan nou braai!"/We're gonna BBQ now)
I do want to point out we spell the F word without the "C" though. But the "O" is spot on.
I think it's pretty much the same with any new language you are learning, people want to teach you the swear words first.

That's not the only way to write a cursive Q, and it is very different than the way I was taught to write a Q but is almost exactly the same as the way I was taught to write an L. The only difference is the direction of the top loop.

the sanskrit tattoo reads as 'balwat' and does mean strength well more like strong
strength is better translated to 'bal' (so first half of the tattoo) or 'takat'
point is its not just a name, it still means strength

I feel like this video will make people double check all their tattoos for spelling errors.
I’ve got one script/writing/lettering whatever you wanna call it and I double triple checked the spelling and my artist checked the spelling and then rechecked it when he was doing the stencilling and we got it right but 100% made sure we did. The word is Namaste so it’s not even common or easy to someone who’s never spelled that before

I have an A7X tattoo with one of my favorite songs “seize the day” well my tattoo artist at the time spelled it Sieze. We both didn’t notice. After I was looking at it and thought this doesn’t look right. People at work were joking with me that it was spelled wrong. I looked it up and yup it was spelled wrong lol called the shop and let him know. Thankfully it was font he couldn’t easily fix lol he was so upset haha
I prefer freehand artwork but for text I would insist on stencils. Get a dictionary for your shop. Triple/Quadruple/Quintuple check your work before you embed ink.
I totally agree, a quick spell check goes along way.

Came across Tobe Drew's Tattoo Work, he is from Ohio. He did some good stuff. Someone had him do a cover up, some other artist misspelled a something put on a shoulder.

I think there's a possibility that the "quantity" tattoo is actually done right. Duality / Quanity 11:11. It could be a dual universe/spiritual reference especially with the 11:11

My daughter got a tattoo last week that says “just one more”, but for whatever reason the artist connected the “o” to the “r” from the bottom, so it looks more like an “a” than an “o”. She is not happy.

My first tattoo was script of Isaiah 41:10 and the artist wrote "richeous" instead of "righteous" on the stencil. Thankfully for my helicopter momma, she caught that shit in half a second. Probably won't ever get another word tattooed on me after that experience

Dont know if you guys respond, but a friend of mine made an appointment for a tattoo, 20x30cm and the artist wants 2400€ for it. Am Im the only one thinking that price is an atrocity?
damn 20x30cm? thats huge. depending on the complexity that could take several sessions/ a lot of hours. if it took 10 hours that be like 225€ an hour which is not uncommon
