Both Bowie and Ryuichi Sakamoto were brilliant in this film, and now both are gone, and our planet is less interesting as a result. How magnificent it would've been, if the two had collaborated together at some point after the film, and I know RS regretted that they did not. Imagine the magnificent art they would've created and left us to marvel.

Nooo I wasn't aware of Sakamoto's passing! Damn that's awful, async is one of my favorite albuns. I love his music, RIP.

I just realized as I was making Japanese curry that the music video for Let's Dance was filmed about the same time as this movie. Notice how Bowie has the same blonde hair and tanned, glowing skin in each? The video was filmed in Australia outback, and the film on Rotunga and parts of Adelaide. It makes sense that since Bowie was already in Australia and needed to make a music video he and the director would find a way to film locally. Brilliant.

I've been a fan of this movie for years. It's a masterpiece on so many levels and I'm glad that it's starting to get the recognition it deserves. David Bowie is wonderful in it, as is Ryuichi Sakamoto. Sakamoto's sound track is just some of my favorite music..

I don't think David was ever comfortable talking about his craft. He always looked a little edgy in interviews. His death proved how private a person he was.

Those were the days when news and media flocked to film people who actually had talent and had a 10+ long career behind them as talent. Nowadays its just lets see what the Kardashians are doing... Which have given nothing and has no talent in anything. Hard to think that his was almost 40 years ago now.
