- in this video number {975} How to check, SMPS PWM IC switching or not? i demonstrated how we can test/ check / verify any PWM controller IC (pulse width modulation controller ic) in smps switch mode power supply using multimeter. i discussed (UC1842 / UC2842 / UC3842 / UC1843, / UC2843 / UC3843 / UC1844 / UC2844 / UC3844 / UC1845 / UC2844 / UC3844 / KA1842 / KA2842 / KA3842 / KA1843, / KA2843 / KA3843 / KA1844 / KA2844 / KA3844 / KA1845 / KA2844 / KA3844. when vcc voltage are applied to its vcc pin number 7 and return to pin 5. it produces 5 volt reference voltage from pin number 8. pin 4 is RT / CT. pin 4 also can be configured with any external clock signal. it have 2 shutdown techniques.

Excellent as always! Very informative. There are a lot of variations in meters and I've notice some of mine don't like switch mode frequencies. You've got mean concerned now about the gate signal and damaging the mosfet with the input capacitance of the meter. Is there a fail safe way to check this? I've noticed you check it at the output of the ic, so is it safer to check the signal there because of the resistor before the gate, of can we put a resistor and/ or a capacitor in series with the meter lead to avoid damage to the mosfet? I don't often ask, but I think it would be worth doing a video on this. Thank you and have a great day!

thank you for your valuable information. i have a one doubt. we have one ups in icu central monitor and it is not working . when i was open to check inside the ups. battery is 4v only but battery voltage is 12v. board looks like good no burning or defective component. when i connect ac power, cumming sound come inside transformer. after removing battery the cumming sound is disable. is there any ideal about this
Just put ur multimeter positive prob on switching mosfet and see if voltage is present and study then switching hot genrated
If the voltage look like not have on mosfet switching is working

I noticed that most of the uc384xxx the comp pin is connected to pin 2 through resistor and capacitor and the opto-coupler is connected to comp pin to ground. Kindly explain the reason for that and how to calculate the resistor and capacitor value for the compensation

Sir in flood lights thare is smps but it doesn't have optocoupler for voltage control. As per our led light requirements voltage auto adgest. So please explain how this smps auto adgest the voltage? And without optocoupler how it possible. please make video on this topic

I'd only add one thing to your warning which comes on the very beginning on every video of yours is "Always use isolation transformer, during tests on switching power supply", but, that's just me. If they never do any experiment, they can't get ever any practical experience.
Why is an isolation transformer required ?
