  • We finally made it down to the Everglades!! Specifically Picayune Strand State Forest. We met up with our trail guide Barry and brought a few fellow Trail Stompers with us. One of which brought his brand-new Rivian R1T!! A completely electric pickup truck. Will it float? Will it sink? Will it ford through water at all or just get stranded?? Will it electrocute everyone around??? We are about to find out!! Let's get into it!!!

    Im actually working at the pump stations out here. Half these trails with the rain flood due to the rain and us pumping water out to restore its natural sheet flow. Its all being restored. One day, those roads will be gone and it will be pure nature. Enjoy them while they are still here!

    Glad to see plenty of snorkels for the ICE cars. Water locking is a real thing and you might as well kiss your engine goodbye if that happens. Slow crossing and not going deeper than your air intake allows is the best approach. Awesome video though, thanks for sharing!

    • @OffRoadAdventures155
      @OffRoadAdventures155  Před rokem +1

      You are absolutely right about hydro locking with water ingress into an Internal Combustion Engine. As a matter of fact, the XJ locked up once on a different ride. We were able to pull the intake and plugs out on the trail and blow all the water out. Somehow it still runs.. I agree with a modest approach through most crossings, however there are exceptions. For example, when you know that the mud is really slick or sticky at the bottom of said hole, sometimes momentum is your friend…. And I like speeeeeed 🤣 That said, we rolled slowly through most of the long crossings creating a proper bow wave to avoid any damage. I appreciate the feedback bud! We have another video in the works!! 🤙

I am on a few Facebook Pages, the biggest one being "Florida Trail Stompers." I know a lot of people in that group. If you are looking for a group to meet up and ride in Florida with, that's where I would send you. Really wild how much water there is on the trails. Is this saltwater or fresh water that’s on these trails? Are leeches an issue you need to deal with? Lol

    • @OffRoadAdventures155
      @OffRoadAdventures155  Před rokem +1

      Those are some really good questions actually. No problems with leaches at all. Technically it’s fresh water, but people don’t realize that there is salt in the mud. Because Florida used to be underwater there is some salt deposits still inland that can get into your rig. Always best to rinse it off after hitting any trail here.

      I’m the only person I know with one. Before I started using it though, I was replacing alternators way more than I should. Now, I turn it off, go through the deep stuff, rev out the muck on the other side, turn it back on, and keep going! I figured, if there’s no current going to it, how can it short? So far so good!
