This is the free version of Silhouette Essentials - Roto with Katie Morris, digital VFX artist and trainer. Katie dives straight into motion blurred roto including where to roto and how to effectively roto. We explore the Roto Overlay tool, and check out how to visualize motion blur without any heavy CPU overhead.
We talk about the role of Shutter Angle and Shutter Phase, and why you may want to be hesitant about changing them. We then quickly look at expressions to ensure that these values are always linked. And we then see the Motion Blur Controller Action that creates a specific node, automatically adding expressions to link all roto nodes to a single controller.

I believe the first version it was available was Silhouette 2023. That is when Expressions was added to nodes.

It's a mixture of v2022 and v2023. But the main ideas are universal and don't matter what version you are working on. The newer versions have some more tools that help roto artists.

The motion blur appears as a black edge if the background is a bright color. Is there a solution for that ?

Yes. Pipe the roto node into a Color Estimation node and that will help to fill it those missing colors.
