It’s nice to see a video of you just saying something that you noticed in a calm slow voice instead of the usual omg this and omg that.
First off, I really like your style in this video. The usual hyperactive tone of so many presenters is really tiring and annoying to have to endure. Thanks for this really well presented video.
Now for the review. Yes, you're right. For most people this MBP is a good choice. The lower transistor count is irrelevant; Apple are not selling numbers. The prime focus is efficiency; longer battery life. This means that the battery will last at least 20% longer for the same number of hours of use.
Sure, the memory bandwidth of the old machine was 33% greater than with the M3, but few people will really notice the difference in a portable computer which is so fast in the first place. The smaller form factor is superb if you're travelling, and it's no problem at all if you're doing presentations, because it can be hooked to a larger external monitor or projector.
In all, if you want Apple quality and versatility, it's a very good choice for many people. If you really do need something bigger, then the 16" model might be better. Or you could opt for a 24" iMac for a lower-priced, faster but somewhat less portable computer. Horses for courses.
I know you get a commission from Amazon sales, but I want to know if there are downsides to Amazon vs buying from Apple directly?
@@seaweed88 only one I can think of is you can’t configure the exact spec like 48gb of ram and 4tb of storage like apple but you can return it for 30 days on Amazon compared to 7.
@@Hi-how-are-you-today. the guy at the apple store said there was 14 day return window
You should keep this slow and calm tone going forward it's SO MUCH better than the usual TIKTOK mumbo jumbo
Yeah, but it's too slow IMHO. I had to speed it up.
finally, otherwise I wouldn't stay more than 30sec on his videos. No offense but it is like I said
What’s mumbo jumbo 😂
Like the more laidback tone!
had to turn the speed to x1.5 😂

Whether you tired or not we can notice your tone is different as well as energy. We think it’s more natural and we recommend doing this rather than trying to be high energy unless you’re really feeling it. Thanks for the great video
yes, i hate this american shows with the energy like they are on steroids
Also, the tone of this video is quite different. It’s calm and doesn’t seem as clickbaity - but I can’t help but feel you may seem a bit sad in this. I hope you’re okay man, thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos. I hope all is well and it’s just a change in the style. If it is simply that, I really appreciated the format. Thank you again.
yh its so calm and relaxing
Yes . . love the relaxed, professional tone. Engaging without being hyped up.
I just came to say the same thing. He seems so sad that makes me wanna cry :)
You’re probably just used to the adrenaline kick from the usual frantic style. Nice delivery on this one 👍🏼
Love it
Wow. Your voice sounds more professional in this video. Great job.
maybe he smoked something......
The first thing I immediately noticed. Max projects a more calm, professional tone. More of this, Max. Please!
he sounds like he is sad to me... maybe cause I'm not used to him talking like that (?)
Lol I thought it was someone else

This is an excellent video. I had a M1 Air (8/8, 16GB, 512GB) and loved it. I purchased six new Macs over the past three months:
16” M1 Pro (Slow - Too big)
16” M1 MAX (Slow - Too big)
15” M2 Air (Weak - Excellent size)
16” M3 Pro (Monster - Too big)
14” M2 MAX (Awful battery - Excellent size)
14” M3 Pro (12/18, 18GB, 1TB, Silver)
The last one is where my money will rest. It’s perfect. And for anyone considering the M2 Pro over the M3 Pro… Don’t do it. Here are the improvements of the M3 over the M2:
- 3 nanometer vs. 5 nanometer
- 20% better battery life than M2
- 72.4-watt-hour battery vs. 70W
- Better resale value
- 18GB unified memory vs. 16GB
- SSD speed is faster (5200 vs. 2900)
- 600 nits instead of 500
- Speedometer 2.1 is much faster
- P-cores are 15% faster than M2
- E-cores are 30% faster than M2
- 20-50% faster at most tasks
- Single core score is much higher
- Multi core score is much higher
- Graphics tasks are 2x faster!
- Dynamic caching
- Ray Tracing
- Mesh Shading
- AV1 Support
- Much larger heat block
- Runs cooler
- Less fan noise
- Same 96W USB-C Power Adapter
- Same Wi-Fi 6E
- Same Bluetooth 5.3
- Same 3 USB-C ports
- Same support for 2 displays
The M3 Pro 14 is the best all around laptop I’ve ever held in my hands.
I am with this comment. I was in the market for a new machine, and just purchased my m3 pro before watching this video. I think Apple is understanding that throwing more power at this point in the game, hardly makes a noticeable difference to the consumer. Anything near the top of the spectrum is going to give plenty of power to the typical and super-users. Now it's about balancing the other characteristics of the machines and making an ultimate platform that pleases the lions share of consumers. We have just come so far in computing and engineering that more computational power doesn't necessarily make for a better machine.
@@MCminus2I agree with you. Enjoy your new Mac! The M3 Pro is a beast!
About to upgrade fro my 15” touchbar to the 14” M3 pro. Fingers crossed that it’s the right choice for me. So far most of the reviews I’ve seen are leaning to the 14.
Love the calm, reflective delivery. Nice work!
I am a software engineer. I bought and M3 Max 14" and I work with Java / Spring / IntelliJ / Docker for the backend and Visual Studio Code / React / npm for the frontend. I am a long Apple user (since 2006) and finally I can use a laptop without burn injuries to my fingers. For my work is perfect, I also use Windows 11 on Paralles and I am more than happy about this product! The laptop I was expecting!
Hi, how is the fan noise on your 14” m3 max? And if they become audible, what type of tasks are u running? I'm a software dev too, so that's why I'm asking, looking for a smaller mbpro with bit more power. Thanks
@@timothyvanvliet7802I’ve got the 30core model and I’ve never heard the fans spin up doing dev work, even in a Linux vm using utm. Only thing that ramps them up so far is baldrs gate 3 lol

I love the more chill and casual tone of your voice in this one ☺️👍
Loving the relaxed (less shouty) presentation in this video. It's much less tiring to watch. I agree. This M3 Pro looks like the sweet spot for the 14" chassis, because the 14" Max just overheats when you try to push it hard anyway.
I’m so glad you have slowed the speed of your speech. I’ll go back to watching your videos again! ;) great review!
Great video Max. Pls keep up this style. Love it.
People got used to Apple Silicon and its succeeding versions of its computers setting new records all the time. It sounds like everyone, including Max Tech, got a little carried away. The new M3 generation machines sound great. You get great performance (especially with optimized software) and amazing battery life.
I bought one because I was bored by the fans blowing on my 16" Intel 64 Gb i9. I still can't tell if this Macbook has a fan. I use it for software development and sometimes as a Windows virtual machine. I don't do lots of video editing. Fantastic battery life. Very happy with this one!
How much ram did you get with your M3 pro ?
I did exactly that! Sold my M1 Max 16” MBP and bought a 14” M3 Pro MBP. No regrets! Better size (for me) and no noticeable drop in performance with the exception of export speed, which I was ok with going in.
I can't even think of having a smaller screen size I have a really and addiction with iMacs, I had a 21.5 inch now a 24 inch, I don't know If I would be able to use an actual laptop anytime soon.
@@4fgaming925 I've had a couple of the 27" iMacs and loved them both. When I'm home my 14"MBP is hooked up to a 46" Samsung TV and and LG Ultrafine 24". Only problem with iMac is they are fairly stationary. The 14" replaced a 12.9 iPad I was using for work so the 14" was an upgrade in my mobile screen size.
@jimtipton8888 what configuration did you get?
Now even the M3 series of Macs are now on Apple refurbished, with the M3 Pro discounted to $1699, that makes the price much compelling
I chose the MacBook Pro with 18Gb and it is a blast - ok, I came from an MB Air from 2014 with a dual core ;) But no matter what I throw at this machine, it just chops it away easily with an amazing battery life. and the case is stiff and really high quality. Wouldn't change it!
This is the right perspective Max!. It’s the reason why I am content with my M2 Air. I just bumped the RAM and the drive (based on your tests). A year and a half later I am still happy with it and it’s lighter and more joyful to type on than a Pro one.
I really liked my m2 air and only upgraded to an m3pro because i needed more ram and found a great deal on the 18/512gb pro. I love the pro but I do still miss the air from time to time. I had both for a couple weeks while I was deciding which I would ultimately keep. Obviously the pro won but the air was just so slim and light and easy to travel with. The difference isn't much on paper but the pro is kind of significantly thicker and the extra weight feels like more than numbers would suggest. I did also notice a slight difference in the keyboards.. One of them was just a little clickier and had a slightly different sound. I forget which one it was at this point and don't remember which one i preferred, if either. at the time, I chalked it up to one of them being newer, the air was 6 months old at that point, and the difference in mass underneath the keyboard. The air was a great machine.. if i'd started with at least 16gb of ram, I'd definitely still have it. (would have been a super expensive upgrade when comparing best buy's price for the 8/512 to a 16/512 direct from apple). The pro is overkill for most of my regular day to day work but on the other hand, I have been getting into gaming more lately and the active cooling (it definitely gets used in this application!), and the hdmi port have come in super handy for this.
I just got my M3 Pro Macbook Pro 2 days ago from best buy. After the discount and the trade in of my M1 Macbook air the total came out to around $1300 which is not bad considering its a $2000 laptop at MSRP. I would still be using the M1 air today if it didn't had 8 gigs of ram. I wish apple made the laptop with the weight and thinness of the M1 air and the screen of the Macbook Pro. That would be a killer laptop for me.
Thank you so much, I was almost giving up on the 14 pro because of the reviews. You’ve made a compelling case for it, and it is good enough for me. Thanks man!
Last November, after viewing all the 14" M3 Pro MacBook Pro reviews (your reviews were the best), I purcheased the Space Black (of course) version equipped with 36 GB ram/1 TB ssd specs. I haven't regretted that decision one bit. I have NEVER heard the fans. I launch a Parallels Desktop 19 Windows 11 Pro on ARM virtual machine configured with 8 cpu cores and 8 GB ram and I have never even come close to using any swap memory.all the well enjoying no hits in macOS performance. (36 GB of ram is NICE.) This particular laptop should provide 4 to 6 years of useful service for me.
Hey man, would you recommend me to buy a MacBook M3 Pro if I specialize in architecture like using Paralles and 3D software like Revit?
I couldn't agree more with your 3-month assessment of the M3 MacBook Pro. I bought the M3 Pro 14" MacBook Pro with 18gb RAM and a 1TB SSD from Costco. It was $2,792 out-the-door with Applecare and Costco doubles the Apple warranty. I really thought I wanted the 16", but it was $1,100 more at Costco due to them only offering the M3 Max with 30gb RAM. I'm SO glad I got the 14". I'm totally blown away with the battery life and heat management. The footprint is actually smaller than my old 2012 13" MacBook Air which my wife is still using and it meets her needs. I went to the dark side for one laptop and in 2021 I bought a Dell XPS 9500 15" laptop and it turned out to be sudh a POS. The CTRL key broke right after the warranty expired, so I put vinyl tape on it to avoid spending money to fix it. I had to replace the battery and NOW it stopped charging unless I shut down and plug it in while off and then restart. Plus the Dell ran hot all the time. I'll NEVER buy another Dell or go back to Windows. The only thing I miss about the Dell is it kept my lap warm in the winter. LOL. My M3 Pro 14" is fast, quiet, super light compared to Dell and cool. I'm OK with lossing a little bit of screen real estate for all of the other benefits. Lastly, the M3 MacBook in Space Black looks absolutely amazing. This is the best purchase I've made in a long time.
The dark side comment took me out lmao
Best Video in a very long time. Thank you!
It’s time for the M4 Ultra

Exactly! Or Dual M4 Ultra!
That's already out of date.
Hey I love your videos!
Where can I get thos sick x-ray backgrounds?
I would be for the 16 but keep forgetting that its all about powerful portability so the 14 is fine for me, if i need a big screen i can just use a docking station
MaxTech Bingo: "Everyone was wrong" ✅
I like the videos and this is one of the best "Apple channels" but the titles are maybe too often "everyone was wrong" and similar.
When they’re the ones who said it to begin with.
Watching this on my 14 inch M3 Pro MacBook Pro! I upgraded from my 13 inch 2015 MacBook Pro (finally!) and am super pleased with it!
I bought this thing shortly after it came out - I had confidence it would shine more than initial reviews showed. It’s made my every day computing absolutely a breeze and incredible - having a computer that can handle everything I chuck at it (even a light bit of gaming through native/even Crossover) - whilst having insane battery life.
I went from a PC laptop with about 1-1.5hour battery life for my studies - now I charge my MBP every ~3 days or so.
A tad expensive? Yes. Value realised? Absolutely.
Anybody on the fence about this, I would encourage you to look up return policies that suit your needs and try it (more than just hands-on in store.)
I did the same thing even with the initial bad initial reviews and this thing has been a workhorse for me. I was in a 4 hour meeting and to see all the Windows users scrambling to find a plug while I finished the meeting with 60%…priceless.
I'm here to say I liked the tone of this video as well. As long as it was done purposefully and it's not because something is wrong behind the scenes. If it was due to sickness or other personal issues then I speak for everyone that we hope everything returns to normal or as normal as it can get.
I returned my 18c 14 pro for a 30c max because I needed more ram and the jump to max was only a couple hundred dollars and I was able to walk out the store with it. Battery is a little worse but man, this thing is incredible! So fast and quiet especially in auto mode
I would love to see a comparison between the 14max 30 and 40 core, I like to think going with the 30 core I get a quieter package
How much did you pay in the end and in what country are you?
Because right now I’m right in the exact same question if I should buy M1 Max or m3 pro and if m3 pro (which I’m now considering way more) which config
@@danielkaminski4150 I’m in the US, paid a hair under $3000 with education discount for the 30c 14” m3 max with 1tb and 36gb
Thank you. Logic Pro user so I’m presuming it’s an improvement although I have seen Logic only uses performance cores not efficiency cores… maybe the 18gb will help…so unusual to do a 2gb increase as the M1 Pro 16” has more performance cores…logic may still be better on the original M chip?
Wonderful presentation as always.
Last month I faced a similar dilemma - should I buy a MacBook Pro M3 Pro or M1 Max? (available on Amazon for less than $1900 at the time) I am a graphic designer who likes to play games on the side.
I chose the M1 Max. The 32GB of RAM, 32 GC, 16" display are all great. I know I might want sell it when the M4's appear as I simply love Macs, always have. When that happens, I know the M1 Max will keep its value more than the M3.
14” refurb M3 Pro MacBook is kind of amazing. At $1700 it’s barely more than a 13” Air with less RAM and the same SSD.
I just ordered this. Returning the 16/1TB 15” M2 Air I had on order. For another $200 it’s a no brainer…
Upgraded my 2019 i9 intel to the 16" M3 Pro. Its a great chip, handles everything I throw at . CPU's are suffering the same marketing blunders the automotive segment went through a few years back. Always publishing "key" selling points like HP, engine displacement without looking at how ALL the items work together to make the driving experience. Computers marketing are counting cores without saying how many instructions per second they do, Faster SSD's just listed as SSD. It all works together to make the experience. Apple have it figured out under the hood.
You should cover the new base m3 vs the former base M1 Pro. I did some benchmarks to compare and I feel good as an early adopter it really keeps up well with the m3.
They basically optimized the design, if you see one of the m2 cons was the higher temp vs the m1, so by reducing the size further and using less transistors the efficiency and speed improved and the lower temperature help reducing the need of throttling down, so it was a very conscious decision
I just bought a refurbished M3 macbook with 24gb of ram and 1tb of storage (8core CPU, 10core GPU) using it for some (not super intense) video editing and for school. I had the option of getting the m3 pro for the same price but with less ram (18gb) but with more cores (11core cpu, 14core gpu).
I decided in the end the ram was more important than the cores. I’d love to know ur thoughts!!
Just ordered a MacBook Pro 14” M3 Pro 12/18, 36gb and 4TB ssd to upgrade my old iMac Pro 10 Core Intel Xeon. Even tho the M3 Pro might be slightly worse than M1/M2 Pro for Logic Pro its still a nice upgrade and about 50-60 tracks more than I got with the iMac Pro. 👌🏼
I just ordered a 14" M3 Pro 12/18 18GB 1TB from Best Buy after trading in my 2019 16" i9 16GB 1TB and all the preliminary reviews online had me thinking I'd made a mistake. I'm glad your 3 month assessment went this way! Coming from an Intel processor I expect to see a major performance upgrade, but your initial video had me wondering if I shouldn't have just gotten an M2 Pro instead. Being more of a photo editor that just dabbles in video, the video export speeds don't worry me at all. I'm happy to see the photo export speeds are better on the M3 Pro. In case anyone's interested, B&H Photo currently has the model I ordered (MRX43LL/A) on sale for $2,099. That's $300 off.
How much did you get for your old computer? What was his condition? I just have the same thing.
@@alexk3866Mine was in pristine condition - no scratches anywhere & didn’t even have wear marks on the keyboard since I used it like a desktop and have a full sized Bluetooth keyboard. I took it to Best Buy and they gave me $800 for it. I turned that $800 around toward a new one.
Do i go for the M3 pro 11 core cpu vs 14 core gpu 512gb 18 unified(1699$) vs M2 Pro Chip with 10‑Core CPU and 16‑Core GPU 512gb 16 unified(1599$). And what would you guys choose between M2 Pro Chip with 12‑Core CPU and 19‑Core GPU 1TB 16 unified(1949$) vs M3 Pro Chip with 12‑Core CPU and 18‑Core GPU 1TB 18 unified(2039$)? btw i'm upgrading from a intel macbook air so i'm eyeing the base variant pros but dont mind going up in price if it's worth it in the long run

Does the display cause eye strain when used for long hours(8-9)
Great voice change. I like it, much more comfortable to listen
This one was very good. Calm, well reasoned and solid! Outstanding!
I have a M1 Macbook Air (2 years) doing a lot of Graphic Design based work and coding in VS Code. I have zero issues though I would love an upgrade :)
love this content👍🏽
This model was really the standout for me and I'm loving mine mine after not quite 2 months!!
Thank you. That’s what I’ve been saying the M3 pro MBP is great for the price and powerful. I wanted a 16 inch for screen real estate. Of course the CZcamsrs were all geeking out about the M3 Max MBP which seems super powerful but it’s a heck of a price too.
I'm definitely getting a MacBook Air 15".(M2 or M3) or a MacBook Pro 14".
I only need it for web browsing, e-mail, streaming.
For streaming movies/series which would you all recommend, Mac Book Air 15" or Mac Book Pro 14"?????
Would the one inch bigger screen on the air make that much difference in viewing ?
You can do all that on a phone. So I’d say get the cheaper option since any laptop can do that
With regards to that note on the price drop; Best Buy, Amazon and numerous other third party resellers have certain configs of new Apple machines at the, "sale" price from launch day and often throughout the entire time that they carry it. It's really common for them to do this because they don't make much money from the actual machine sale, but from store-brand accessories and services instead.
Another negative of the M3 Pro vs the M1 Max is if you want non-standard RAM or SSD size. I was debating whether to get an M3 Pro or an M1 Max (as they have fairly similar performance) and I wanted a lot of storage and RAM (4 TB and 64 GB respectively), and the former would be $1200 more on the M3 Pro, and the latter was literally impossible. For a lesser specced machine than the one I bought (except for a slight edge in processor capability), I would have to pay around $4100. With my M1 Max purchase around three months ago, I got it for around $2800 from Microcenter. Something to consider.
Love the tone of this one
M1 Pro and M2 Pro were OP, but IMO they didn't deliberately nerf the M3 Pro, it is just the graphics can do ray tracing now and that is a lot of power consumption. Same thing happened to graphics cards - remember how poorly 2080 and 2080 Ti looked compared to 1080 Ti - they either didn't provide any performance on top of the older card or the price was at least x2 times higher for 40% performance boost. I don't do ray tracing on my mac (or play on it), so I got an M2 Pro with a killer discount the next day M3 Pro launched, so still very pleased with this machine
Thanks for clearing the doubts and making me more confident in buying this machine.
Finally after years, I liked your tone. You don't sound like a die hard apple fanboy anymore! You look and sound more professional like MacBooks that you review 😊. Please don't go back to that tone 🙏. This is 1000 times better. I hope everything is good with you and nothing sad happened to you.
Do you recommend this one or M2 Air 15" 16/512?
Movies, web browsing, data analysis and presentations
I got M2 Air 13in 16/512 in December '23. I really love it. I use it for the same reasons except the data analysis part. I should have gotten the 15in, but I really love what I got anyway. It costs like $1700 bucks (apple care too). I've been very pleased with the purchase. My laptop from 2014 died, so this was a big upgrade which is probably why I love it soo much. I should have gotten a Macbook sooner. You may want the M3 Air if you don't need it asap.
This is best for you in all ways when compared to m2 15 air. And if you on low power mode it still gets generational performance over m2 and gets a lot more battery life.
And the speakers and display are unimaginable good and are amazing in real world. This mac in video would suit you
M3 Air is coming out in March
I love the new tone of your voice. Please use this tone rather than the usual one.
Can you please do a comparison video between the MBP 14 M3 with 16GB ram and the MBP 14 M2 Pro 10C 16C. Both are around the same price now, and many potential buyers are trying to decide between them
There is no MBP 14 M3 withi 16 GB ram dude, is only 18 GB
You are one of my fav reviewers, I just have a weird question I like how you run the results of your tests, eg temps power usage ram usage cpu/gpu performance etc. But I'm curious if you used a iPad as a second screen so the results would be viewable continuously and also if that would effect the performance, if you have a opinion or a test on that method it would be great and thanks again for you channel you are amazing mate, cheers.
also wanted to add since you are so thorough with your reviews, would also wondering if you fill one your 256GB Macs to over 80% capacity and see if it effects read and write performance so your subscribers would have a trusted review on if they should avoid 256GB Macs or use a external ssd and never fill it beyond 80% capacity thanks again
Great video man
Can we compare M3 MBP with 16GB Ram vs M2 Pro MBP with same 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD please. Which is better as they are essentially the same price now.
Great video. Makes a lot of sense. M3 Pro is impressive for its price. Also, Apple now has it refurbished for $300 off, with full warranty!
I bought a M3 pro, I struggled with the decision because of all the reviews and was pretty confused with what to go with but I’ve been really happy with it. It makes my balls tingle every day.
hahhahahahhahah
Confused between the 14 inch m3 pro, 512 gb, 18gb vs 36gb or the 16 inch m3 max 14c/30c,36 gb 1 tb ssd. My needs are 4k video editing, lightroom and photoshop. I want the max but if m3 pro is enough, I don't want to overspend. Please help me make the right decision.
How's it compare to a 16" M2 Max?
My goodness I'm glad to hear you not simply compare these year over year. No on has mentioned M3 Pro compared to M1 Max, that is insane considering big time pros are working with M1 Max MacBook's as their workstations (MKBHD?!)
As an Audio guy using Ableton, and Studio One I’m ready for a 16 core chip with faster CPU performance at a fair price not necessarily GPU. GPU doesn’t really mean much to the majority of individuals making music. WiFi 7 is an absolute must. When Apple ships a Mac Studio with above specs for less than $2500 I’m in. Until then I’ll use my 2020 iMac 27 inch with i9.
I know this is a tired question - but I have a 14" M1 Macbook Pro; no complaints about performance. Is there really a noticeable difference with the M3 Pro? Debating if I should trade in and upgrade. I usually keep machines 5-8 years but I'm tempted.
Depends on the specs and what you wanna use it for. Gotta go for at least 14coreCPU to see the difference realy.
@@mygoogle1525 Appreciated, thanks
I have a M1 Pro Max 16 inch 2TB with 64GB of ram and I am a professional TV editor, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the M3 Max 16 inch 2TB with 64 GB or ram - I've watched so many videos, I am now confused! I don't have any issues with my laptop but I can still trade it in and get 1k with apple (I'm sure if I wait one more year I will get nothing for my trade) I usually run Premiere Pro, After Effects, Spotify, Adobe Audition, and a few other things at the same time. Any thoughts?
I like this video style way better. Less hype more substance
I just bought a new MacBook Pro M3 Pro chip, 36GB RAM, 2 TB SSD for $2,549 in the refurbished store, can't wait to get it. I basically did a straight across trade for my M1 Mac Mini 16GB/2TB and M2 MacBook Air 24GB/1TB that I sold on eBay for $2600 total so I get the new machine and $51 back. I think it was a great trade.
I am wondering what caused the reevaluation of results you already had from before. Was a call or $ check from Apple involved? Or perhaps you noticed a drop in your affiliate links usage since no one wanted the M3 due to your past recommendations?
you sound way more relaxed in this video, it's good ! :)
What are the specs on this one? 18GB?
Happy with my m1 pro for now 14”
M2 max is M1 max with better scaling, upgraded neural engine, and better encoders and decoders.
But still, the performance was not comparable. This is because of the scaling issues in M1 max.
He does this with every MacBook release it's comical. Go back look at the M1 and M2 videos haha
Question for anyone who can help: Will this MBP 14 (18/512) be enough for someone who just needs it for music editing (Ableton) now and possibly video editing in the future? How much better is this than the M3 MBA 15 (16/512) for those tasks listed? I was looking at getting the Air but the MBP is on sale and only $150 more so I though I’d consider it for future proofing in case I do go into vid editing. I’ve always been a loyal PC user but am finally going to switch after my current notebook just let me down for the last time (fan failed in a little over 2 years). TIA
Got the M3 Pro MBP 16GB 512 on the Apple Cerftified Refurbished store for $1529 + taxes last week and for the value, the price couldn't be beat vs. other MacBooks when spec'd up (15" MBA, base M3 MBP) or the new Windows laptops now with the new Core Ultra chips. Planning on using this as a complete desktop replacement and so far, so good. Runs totally silent and cool for my use case.
Unless you got a screaming deal that's no longer available, it looks like the $1,529 refurb model is with the M3, not the M3 Pro
MAX ASMR
Ive been watching specific video topics from your channel for years. I researched and w the m3 pro I was able to get an 18gb RAM TB SSD for $2,029 pre tax. B&Hphoto is selling the base specs m3 pro for as low as $1,750. quite a good deal IMO except for the fact that the m3 only allows 1 external display connection. The dual engine not being on the m3 pro is disappointing. but its the best laptop ive personally ever owned and while 2k isnt necessarily cheap. its right on the money for its value. i couldnt bring myself to spend $2,800-$3,000 on an m3 max 14”. I can deal w sloghtly slower export times when it comes to the overall considerations of this device. speakers are too loud and clear. call quality is amazing. im a novice video editor tho so slower export times doesnt impede my work and probably wont for a year or two. i also think resale value of m3 pro will hold for 3 years.
I agree totally, incredible machines
Hey man, thanks for the video. I just picked up an Apple refurbished M3 Pro 14 inch with the 18gb Ram 11cpu/14gpu 1TB SSD for 1800 bucks, about 2 grand after tax. I think I got a pretty good deal tbh
I recently bought this m3pro macbook with 18 gigas of RAM. I'm not an expert on how computers work but I'm surprised that with simple tasks, almost all my RAM is being used (14 out of 18 gigas) Is this normal? Working with photoshop has been ok and fast but sometimes it gets slower with browser tabs and I'm also having trouble with spotify (it crashes after a pop up sign saying "your system has run out of memory application" and the spotify app consuming up to 70 gigas) I hope someone can give me a hint to understand the problem. Thanks for the video. It is really clarifying.
Can't do 14" laptop screens any more. Had to go with 16" M3 Max.
Agree with the new tone being better 👍🏻
Agreed, you sound great dude keep it up!
Very good three month update.
They are actually classified as Standard, Pro, Max, Ultra, Ultimate. In order to maintain their sales, they must retire some older models.
The only benefit for me on the M3 Pro over the M1 Pro would be the extra efficiency cores. My workload needs a lot of RAM but not a lot of CPU/GPU and the added battery life would be nice but it's not enough to get me to upgrade. I will look again when the M4 comes out but they'd need more benefits to get me to upgrade. Getting rid of the notch, adding a USBA port, going to 17.3 inches and 4k screen are ideas that would get me to look harder at upgrading. CPU/GPU performance aren't a factor in deciding because the M1 Pro is already way more than I need.
Planning on picking one up for only $1100 after my MacBook M1 Air trade in and $150 Apple gc that I still have, glad I feel like I’m making the right choice!
The M1 series is Apple's equivalent to the GTX 1080Ti. Too good for it's own good
bruuhhhh, who said that, I also tested my M1 Mac, on metal API it said it was equivalent to GTX 1080 Ti , but using OpenCL , it was a completely different story. I think there is something fishy going on here. So, I tried playing csgo, which turned out to be ok (100 fps standing still and 60 fps while shooting, running etc.), but definitely not as good as the GTX 1080 Ti.
@@4fgaming925I think you missed the metaphor
@@LB-yg2br Damn, I just realised I typed all that nonsense just cuz of not reading your whole comment. Sorry lol
What about music production? M3 or m3 pro?
I enede yo returning my M3 Max 14" I am a Lightroom user and it was not much faster during imports yet it was quite a bit louder then my M2 Max
This is the best presenration thus far! Perceived Objectivity increased because nothing is "hyped"
this was actually a very good enjoyable video; you seem very down to earth n chilled out maybe sad but more vids like this tbh Max…
Those times you were comparing the M3 pro with the M1 Max, I’m curious how the M2 pro did.
