  • This is the second episode of the Mapmaking 101 series, where I share what I've learned and discovered through the last couple of years of my cartographer's journey.
This episode lists some apps and programs that you can pick for your mapmaking trials.
In the series I will talk about tips, tricks, but I will focus on the practical aspects of digital fantasy cartography. We will pick a tool together, find proper assets and start making maps in no time. If you're interested of course. The series is aimed for people that want to get into the hobby or are new to it, but I bet that more experienced mapmakers will also find some interesting stuff here.

Thanks! If you ever find something that's missing on the list post it here for other people to research themselves! ^^

Thanks, took some time! I'm still sure I only scratched the surface though ^^

Great video! Thanks! Lots of research and I appreciate that.
I think the only one I didn't see on here was Other World Mapper. I would put it between CC3+ and Dungeondraft/Wonderdraft in terms of ability. I think it creates good maps but takes more time to make them pretty compared to DD but less time than CC3+. It can also do overland and dungeon maps.
I think RPGScenery and Flowscape are more about creating a scene to show users. Yes, RPGScenery allows a grid map output but I think it needs to be bigger than what it currently allows since I feel the need to stitch them together.
I mostly agree with your preferences. I do think with CC3+ tools, city building is reasonably fast. I do like BluBerry's tile add ons for DD for it as well. I have had Arkenforge for a while but am just coming around to using it more.
    Thanks again!

Can't hit all of them ^^ After making this video I bumped into like 3 or 4 other software pieces that could've made the list. As long as people go out of the 'there's nothing to choose from' mindset it's all good though ^^

@@TimorSol I apologize! I was not saying you could have done a complete list! I merely think that OWM is a good one, that's all. Thanks for these videos!!

Hello everyone. Is it possible to use TaleSpire on a second monitor (connected to a notebook) with real miniatures on it like i'm doing at the moment with ArkenForge?? thank you all. Roby
