I worked at a Wendy's a long time ago. Yes, they do use the "left over" meat, but not what people are thinking. When you make burgers, you have to discard it after a certain amount of time. Which isn't long. The meat isnt bad or spoiled. I'd rather them repurpose the meat instead of throwing it away. I love Wendy's chili.
We never had leftover meat at our Wendy's, we always cooked our meat fresh and put an order in for lunch of so many x's of double stack meat, so many x's of hamburger meat, and big meat. Baconator meat, there was only a few cooked, but if not made we usually cooked them to order

Cheddar cheese and diced onions for topping. Making this Frito pie chili is pretty easy, and you can pretty much improvise with the ingredients. You can add some green or red bell peppers to the ground beef mixture as you are cooking it. You can also add some corn kernels to the chili. If you really want to get in the way back machine, make some "walking tacos," by slicing open individual bags of Fritos and spooning the chili into the bags. Top the chili with some cheese and diced onions, and eat the chili straight from the bag. I'm pretty sure the chili tastes better this way! 😊 This chili is so hearty. The added corn meal also brings back memories of the thick chili you might add to a hamburger or hot dog. This chili would also be wonderful with tortilla chips (even Doritos), but there is something about Fritos that just brings out the nostalgia. This chili is such a portable and delicious snack. I think it would be so cool to line up a bunch of Frito bags which have been sliced open on their sides next to the hot chili, some grated cheese, and diced onions to create a Frito Pie bar. You could also have some sour cream and diced avocado on hand to top the chili. Some people says "dont waste food" and some other people says "dont use leftover food" which is stupid. They dont like wasting food but once they learn what intelligent people does to leftovers, they get mad over it. I worked at Wemdys as a teen, the Wendys Chili meat is just meat that sat out to long and can't be used for the burgers anymore, it's not gross at all its smart...when the alarm goes off they put it in a "heat drawer" it then goes with the other full meat bins when it's full and then later it all gets chopped up and mixed in with everything else when the batches are being cooked, nothing wrong about that and fast food chili wise it's always been my favorite.
