    Probably a typo, but the 'Boeing' 717 is actually a DC-9. Your KC-135 is a Boeing 707, modified.

    Four B2 Stealth landed at Holloman one day to re-fuel for an exercise in the area, including F-22 support. We got to talk to the pilots along with a brief look-around of the aircraft exterior. The skies were alive that day. It’s one damn cool looking bomber. No pictures allowed of course. Only top-secret or better we’re allowed on the tarmac for a closer look.

    Educational question, do the maintenance personnel wear special boots or have protective covers over their boots while walking on the wings, etc. to protect the specialized paint?

      yes, it's in the video "soft shoes"

    • @stanmans
      @stanmans Před 13 dny

      @@nightjarflying "soft shoes". Question is still not answered. I have soft shoes that I wear at home. Are these soft shoes specifically made for walking on the wings,,etc. to protect the specialized outer coatings?.

    • @nightjarflying
      @nightjarflying Před 13 dny

      @@stanmansMore like the maintenance crews need protection from the RAM coatings!
      Any military issue soft-soled footwear will do. Clean, disposable booties are donned on top of the footwear every time JUST BEFORE one enters an a/c skin area - also fresh disposable gloves & goggles.
      Procedure is similar to hygiene regs when entering/leaving a protected room/zone. People repairing the coating layer have full body disposable suits & filtered face masks.
      Don't track dirt in nor out. Don't allow sandpaper particles to spread. Keep human biology away from the coatings & associated chemicals. Even the washing water is treated as hazardous liquid waste.

      The climate controlled hangers are in a 1,000 metre line, so no his hanger is at the South end whereas most of the B2s [half of them] are at the North end & the middle.

    This takeoff of numerous jets simultaneously is not "crazy". This was a concerted effort on behalf of very well-trained personnel all of whom have dedication to the protection of these aircraft. They would not engage in any "crazy" activity using these aircraft. Everything was actually very controlled and performed in a perfectly sane manner. To suggest there was anything "crazy" about this exercise is demoralized speech.
