    Just if you want an advice, next time that go paint something on you garage, sweep the floor like you did, but after that get the floor wet, so the particles of dust are not gonna flow around, I'll be safer.
    That's what my old school teacher told me that he used to do to paint cars.
    Peace

    You went way more hard core than anyone I've seen. I just lightly sand then wipe down the frame and fork, but the Krylon take can camo paint and totally free hand it, adding two layers of ultra flat clear over the top. You did a great job, I'm super impressed!!

    For paint stencil material use either Gerbermask or Controltac. They are made for this type of application and do not leave any residue when removed.

    Put another two layers of matte clearcoat on top, then sand THAT down evenly, then put another layer of matte clearcoat on top of that, you will have a smooth surface and all the layers underneath!

  • @erlinghagendesign
    @erlinghagendesign Před 5 lety

    you can use another fresh sticky tape to take of the residues of glue from a ( sticky ) tape. It works great and you have not to deal with a liquid and probable smearing. Just tap it repeatedly on the places with the residues. The tape will take it off. This works on any surface, also to remove glue residues from stickers on plastic containers for instances.

    Or instead of building all that ventilation equipment, spending all that and doing all that stuff you can simply paint in your garage with the door open or paint in your backyard. Plus they sell spray can or aerosol paint that is pre mixed way more cheaper than buying a spray gun and compressor. They also sell clear coat in aerosol cans. The one great Idea that I liked was the making of the stencil for the camo pattern.

    I learned new stuff. Thanks. I parked at a rack next to a paint job that made the lightweight frame look like unpainted rusty dirty steel. I still can't figure out how the artist got that specific look even though I had already seen a video on how to make an expensive bike look old and worn.

    I like the way you go straight to your goal. I have the same project. But something doesn't look good in the final result, the lips between layers are really visible, I do not want to have the same problem, could it be the wrong thickness of your decals or to many coats of paint ? I also noticed that you didn't put a coat of varnish, this could have fit the gaps of layers ? I understand that for a first try mistakes happens.

      Basically because of the Paint that I used(which has a hardener in it) I did not need to sand it down. There is a bit of texture to this day between the layers but I actaully like it.

    Hi Dustin, that was such tremendous task you did and looked so awesome. Looking at the video, I observed that you did not remove the original layer of the paint that was on the frame and I have a question related to that, I bought an electric cycle a week ago, however I would like to custom paint it, is it okay to paint over the original paint or not? And any other tips you may want to add would be helpful too. Thanks in advance :) Keep doing the great work. Love from India

    interesting project! hey, I`ve got to ask, how much does the paint weight, like before after frameset weight?

    • @EverythingsBeenDone
      @EverythingsBeenDone  Před 6 lety

      Damnit! That is an awesome question! I didnt even think about that. I wonder if we could find the weight of the frame online some where?

    • @alexandermaytower2942
      @alexandermaytower2942 Před 6 lety

      h-h)) maybe you can contact your supplier, but it would be truer or more relevant to weight the same frameset with the same scales or what not))

    • @alexandermaytower2942
      @alexandermaytower2942 Před 6 lety

      yeah, it looks like you`ve had enough on your hands allready, precision and time framing often cuts unnecessary steps, it`s not like it`s that lightweight of a bike build for weight to be a target, it`s just curious due to that many layers and this technic how much does it really add up.

    Thanks for sharing this video Dustin! I am planning on of painting my first bike (solid color nothing fancy) and trying to decide on a good paint to use. How is the Duracoat holding up on your bike? Would you use it again? Whats your update? Thanks!

    • @EverythingsBeenDone
      @EverythingsBeenDone  Před 5 lety

      Duracoat is by far the easiest paint I have found for painting bikes its one part and dries rugged AF! its a bit spendy but strong. PS unfortunately I am not sponsored by them.
