  • Madras Lalitangi Vasanthakumari (Tamil: மெட்ராஸ் லலிதாங்கி வசந்தகுமாரி) (popularly referred to as MLV) (July 3, 1928 - October 31, 1990), was a Carnatic musician and playback singer for film songs in many Indian languages. MLV and her contemporaries D. K. Pattammal and M. S. Subbulakshmi were popularly referred to as the "female trinity of Carnatic Music. A prime disciple of the G. N. Our Great 👍 MLV is amazingly Gifted and Talented, as we all Know*; no Comparison but to listen and clear off our logged mind.

Excellent rendering of Late MLV as she was.popularly addressed had electrifying voice keeping her audience in rapt attention without a wink of distraction. INRECO should còrrect their record for the artist's life span as 1928 and not as 1920 as erroneously mentioned. 1990 is okay.

it was only recently i learnt that MLV, like MSS, was NOT born a Tamil Brahmin - they belonged to the Vellala community but were grabbed by the Tamil Brahmins AFTER they had become famous!

Mlv,s father is a brahmin. But she chose to be known as daughter of smt lalitha kumari. Female freedom is not new. Kalki sadasivam was no mean man. He showed a great courage and sense of purpose in marrying ms. He did play a great part in elevating and polishing the raw diamond that was ms. So stop your mischief menon saare!

Loose language shows your prejudice. Both M.S. and MLV, whose fathers were brahmins, chose their musical / cultural paths on their own. Therefore, none 'grabbed' them. You need to tell us how you treated the Ezhavas and Thiyyas...........

@@zramnarayan Both ladies were fully accepted by the brahmin community. It seems M.S. asked Maha Periyavaal - Kanchi Periyavar - if she could wear the saree in the brahmin 'Madisaru' style, it seems he said that she deserved to wear it in that style because of her contribution to Sanatana Dharma, spread through 'Naadha Brahmam'.

Mr. Menon, By writing like this, you are insulting the legends. Before writing please learn to know the truth. MLV is my athai's guru and I know about her. Please it is request. Thanks for taking my comments in positively.
