Chinese Xinjiang Lamb kabobs Skewers

  • Lamb skewers, or chuar, are similar to Middle Eastern style lamb kebabs, but vary in the size of the cut and the way they’re seasoned.
    INGREDIENTS
    3 pound lamb meat
    1 onion, sliced
    (Optional) 2 tablespoons whole cumin seeds
    3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 tablespoons sesame oil
    3 tablespoons light soy sauce
    3 teaspoons cornstarch
    2 teaspoons cumin powder
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon turmeric
    1 teaspoon rosemary
    1 teaspoon garlic powder

    Your recipe in description says 2 teaspoons of cumin powder but it looks like you use 3 in the video. Which one is it?

    The lamb is marinated in the fridge now . It smells so good I wanted to eat them all even when it was raw haha

    I'm having trouble finding the meat you used. Is it lamb arm instead of shoulder? When I get lamb shoulder, It comes flat and steak like with bone ribbons of bone from the cross cut shoulder blade. It looks like you might have just used the meat from the arm? or is it shoulder afterall?

    Don't want to sound like a hater, but what is the purpose of using onions? You didn't using them in the skewers. Please don't tell me that raw, uncooked onions added flavor to the meat while marinating.

      the acid in the onion tenderises the meat.....It also gives it flavor from the juice. In Iran, Barg which is thinly butterflied lamb, is dipped in onion juice right before it hits the flame to tenderize and flavor.

      I have never tried it in a oven, but i thing it can be good if you do some small changes to the recipe like adding less oil and add smoke liquid if you like to have the smoke taste. good luck!

    All wrong ...shouldn’t bbq the spices. The lamb should only be marinated in onion juice only with no other spices. You destroyed the xinjiang dish which is my favorite.

    Kabab is not Chinese Xinjiang food.
    It is Xinjiang Uighur food. Why are you dropping Uighur while stressing Chinese here?
    You are misleading people to think that is a Han Chinese food.
    You should be clear about that.

    why do you use a Chinese-style music? Xinjiang is the homeland to peoples that are NOT related to Han Chinese people in no way. This is totally stupid. I mean, you could make a video about Burrito and use French accordion music.

      Uyghur is a Turkic clan. They are Karluk turks closely related to the Uzbeks. Uyghurs are East Karluk and Uzbeks are west karluk.

    It's East Tukistan. Not XinJiang.
    I was in Urumqi & Kashgar by invitation of the PRC Embassy the occupier of East Turkestan.
    While I was there, I learned that Uyghur food simply amazing.
    Unfortunately, Uyghurs are facing genocide.
