Growing up in metro Detroit from the mid-70's to when the band dissolved, whenever J. Geils came to town you just went. No need to think about it or talk about it, you just bought tickets and went. Legendary live performances. I had no idea his passion for cars equaled his passion for music until after I heard he had passed. What a loss for our world
I remember racing against John back in the 80's. He had a beautiful Ferrari TdF and we would battle lap after lap. It was great fun. Nice to see he's still in the cars.
I read an article that actor Gary Cooper could take apart an engine and put it back together again. People don't realize that rock stars and actors ect. have hobbies, too.
He had good taste, in music, in cars, in guitars. This vid is inspiring in the sense that, you know, why wait and dream when you really, really want something. Get it, enjoy it while you can, rather than settling for anything less. You only live once -- and for a very short time.
Such a wonderful pleasure to see J Geils In this and another video from the same period on his guitars. I only saw him and the band live 1 time when he opened for the Allman Bros at the closing concert Saturday night late show at the Fillmore East in NYC. Each member were outstanding in every way. I became a fan at that show. So great to hear him speak about his passions for old guitars, Dance music and Italian cars. So different from other older rockers who fell out of reality and killed or hurt themselves badly in the process. May your music and life example live on forever...rest in peace Mr Geils. Thank you for posting this treasure.
Wow, I just found this. I was looking up some more J Geils music on house party and this popped up. I thought it was quite interesting and I’m guessing his cars were probably worth a lot more than he thought they were. They all look very cool.
It might come down to where someone lives. Even though they were from Boston, here in Detroit we claimed them as our own and they felt the same way about us. My best guess is I saw them nine or ten times live, so they weren't underrated with me
I only knew of J Geils through the music videos of his band. In that particular time frame, a top 5 act in the US. Never, ever knew of the J Geils, car fanatic. Such a lovely snippet of a man and his beloved cars. Up there in heaven, I want to believe he's found his vintage Ferrari he gave away all those years ago, and has talked Enzo into a high speed run down some sun bathed wooded countryside. RIP, Sir.
Very fun life of an interesting man! We miss him. His band was fun! Interviewer should of added the names of these cars for the audience. ...mmm me want beer🍺
No 911? Yes, i know Porsche is not italian. Thank you J. Geil for explaining your cars tom me. Quite interesting. And you look good - wish you all the best.
In his eyes, Lamborghini was a tractor manufacturer who dabbled in cars...I had the pleasure and privilege of spending 3-4 hours with him at his home in Groton, MA. Didn't suffer fools easily, nor fools. His knowledge about the blues and early rock blew me away. Do yourself a favor...get the J.Geils band double live album 'Blow your Face Out'. YOU'LL THANK ME LATER.

Saw you many times in San Francisco at Winterland in the 1970's, thank you for all the great shows and memories.
J. Geils loves his guitars and his cars. What a class act he was. RIP, Brother Rocker.
J, thanks for the sounds. RIP.
Talk about enthusiasm for Italian cars! He kept them shining, clean, good looking.
This should be a television show.
You didn't finish the video. RIP J, you and your band gave me countless hours of enjoyment.
I love his passion for the beautiful cars , I pray he is driving them now !
He is asleep awaiting for his resserrection by Jesus (John 11:25) ( Isaiah 26:19), Ecclesiastes 9:5,6. It will happen after Armegedden.

He says they're not worth a lot of money? Well, now they are!!!

The older automobile's have so much more personality than the cookie cutter designs of today's ....cars.
MyworstEnemy most of today's cars are mere appliances
gotta like the celebs who have grease under the nails.
I don't think that bieber dude knows how to open the hood of his Lamborghini.
Or where to put the oil
jwjeffrey oil?
He wouldn't know where to put the oil in the car
close your eyes and he sounds like Jaack...bennny!..
