We are talking about professional athletes in both cases, but their sport is very different, while running is only about speed, football is about technique, game intelligence, accuracy, team play, etc. Therefore, they are obviously slower when it comes to just the sprint.

Not trying to say that footballers are faster than sprinters, but the huge difference also comes from sprinters actually having 100 meters to accelerate. The top speed of football players usually happens after a 15-30 meter acceleration and then they slow down again so they would be ready for a pass or something

It's much easier to start from a starting position, that's why they do it that way, you think too simply, "you start from 20, so it's easier to get to 35" but it doesn't work that way, 100m sprint built on the most optimal conditions to make athletes focus only on speed the starting station is just there so you can kick off and reach top speed as quickly as possible, because this is the best way, the most optimal.

The problem is that Bolt played in 2018 at 32-33 years old(at that age footballers are thinking about retiring) and he is good at sprinting but he does not have the agility to stop and make changes of directions and he is not good with the ball in his feet, plus he has a bad positioning in the field, because of all that, he only made like 2 sprints in the 60 min that he played in those two games, and ofc he won those sprints but he did not take an advantage of that in general.
