- In this video we look at the sensitivity settings and configuration options available in Microsoft Flight Simulator for use with the Xbox Controller for both the Xbox and PC. I share my settings suitable for a general profile for a more realistic flying experience in a GA aircraft.

I have a problem, have you experienced this? When I'm flying with the autopilot set for heading and altitude, when I push the left stick to bring up the menu, the plane goes into nose dive. Bit of a problem when you're trying to access the control tower comms. Any thoughts?
@@TheSlagwerker new one for me…sorry not experienced this. Check control options for a binding on the left stick that shouldn’t be there?
@@TheSlagwerker I have a similar issue. The only fix I have found is to plug a wireless USB mouse into my Xbox Series X. I can use that to navigate menus and don't need to click the left thumb stick to bring up the cursor. HUGE quality of life upgrade!

What a neat tutorial. I got my tail wheel endorsement at Boundary Bay in a Waco Classic. On my first flight, we were number 2 for takeoff behind a Hawker Sea Fury.
My Cessna 172 used to be a Space Shuttle at take off, or a Dirt Missle....

Thanks so much for this. After just two tries with these settings my landings are now (somewhat) competent. The rudder controls were throwing me off - as you say, they're way too sensitive for an Xbox controller.

Hoe gaan dit, broer! This video was a life saver for me. Upon takeoff, I kept stalling my Cesna Skyhawk 337 and it was immensely frustrating. Learning these adjustments has helped tremendously. Thanks for your hard work and sharing. BTW, I think MSFS for the XBox Series X is a marvel in computer engineering and a testament to what others can do with it. I would like to see some realistic military combat sims in the console world. I would be in heaven.

Great video! I was wondering how would you map the control such that you can control the yoke with the right thumb stick? I've always found it more intuitive to use the right thumb stick as the yoke. I tried to do it manually but it messed up the camera controls 😅

I have this sim installed on my desktop and also my gaming laptop.
On the desktop I have my honeycomb yoke, saitek throttle quadrant and Thrustmaster t3pa pro racing pedals and all work perfectly.
On my lappy I use my Xbone controller and it's a pain, lack of finesse and over aggressive controls meaning I rarely use my lappy.
This video has given me the boot up the backside that I need, to get it set up properly!!

great video. why is reactivity set to 3% and 15% for left stick? this seems to be the default on my xbox also at the moment?

This was extremely helpful- good to know how naturally far off from a yoke controller the gamepad can be. Updating these settings has totally changed my experience. Obsession may now resume 😎

I notice you have the LT Extremity Dead Zone at *+20* but for RT it's at *-20.* Which is correct?
Finally was waiting for an updated video been flying since July and the rudders have been a pain and just like you said only touching sensitivity can get sloppy when trying to fly " realistically"
Started to get a feeling it was something to do with the extremity dead zones I had reactivity down on my rudders which didn't turn out desirable but I think this will fix what was wrong

I have a Velocity flight panel kitted out with 8 x Logitech FIP's, Dual Logitech Radio stacks, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle. But it is a pain in the backside. Takes up so much room. I have to sit way back from my monitor whilst peering over the top of the panel. I'm also limited to GA and Airliners when I often want to fly DCS too. I'm Seriously considering tearing it all down and using a controller.
Pro tip, also add stick extension to your controller like kontrol freeks
I used to be able to move the curser around in the cockpit and activate buttons and switches with the thumb sticks and also use the a button to activate any highlighted cockpit switch. Something has happened and now my Xbox controller doesn’t seem to allow me to do any of that. I don’t know what happened or how to get it back to the way it was. Any guidance would be helpful and appreciated.
How do I pan up so I can see over dashboard?
My XboxS controllers left stick has stopped working as throttle and roll. Otherwise it works, eg to move the cursor. Any ideas please?

Just configure the bindings accordingly

If I set up the senativaties and save them. will they help me in the Training mode or do they revert to default setting.
The camera in Training mode is very twitchy in deed.

Yes, go to control options and manually change the config for the controller.

Do you have that Xbox assist for controller enabled, forgot the exact name but it’s under the assists in settings, just unsure if Im best disabling it with your sensitivity settings. Thanks
Yes they should all be disabled.
Weird my RT dead zone is 3% as standard, not 5% as in your video, everything else is the same
Mark...did you see the 3d printed joystick/throttle clip on for xbox x controller? Its on CZcams. It gives an even better, smoother control with it

hi mark I have a question on RT id that 20 or -20 if I do minus the graph looks odd?
Adjust both positive and negative axis into the minus range.
I’m still confused, lol. Did you ever work it out should both extremity for left and right triggers be like in the video or both set to -20. I would love to use these settings but he seems to rush over some parts.

When I try to change a trim setting, it doesn’t seem to allow me to change 2 commands in one column. It only allows one button in each column. Suggestions? Any suggestions on trim settings for the Xbox controller? Thx
Set these to a button ideally not an axis.
Just using your setting is the extremity dead zone for the right trigger -20% ?
I notice left trigger you have +20% extremity and for right trigger you have it at -20%

I hope you can help me. I have Xbox version msgs. I can’t interact with dashboard components. Altimeter and other switches turn blue but when I click on the they turn yellow and won’t allow me to make settings. Really frustrating can’t find the answer anywhere.
Check your controller is updated.

Hi there, i have a question about the xbox controller connectet to the xbox cloud gaming Microsoft Flight Sim 2020, there is a very slow movement on the rudder when i use LT and RT Trigger on the controller to control the airplane it seems like its not reacting as it use to do and goes slow when i taxi the plane, i setup the rudder right but its like there is something wrong, ehen i startet the sim first time it went faster and better to control the steering on the ground. Can u help me Sir? there is a way to do this?
Check pilot assist (assist options) is turned off. Check controller assist is also off.

Can you use any wireless keyboard and mouse with Xbox?
Most are compatible..I use a cheap Logitech set.
Going from Xbox to pc. And keeping the remote. This should pretty easy

Hi Guys, just a question. I have thought about buying this sim for a long time now and just recently subscribed to Xbox game pass. There is a Beta version available to play so I downloaded it onto my Xbox. It kind of gives you the experience but I do think that as its part of the game pass package they are not going to give you the full experience, am I right? I have very quickly realised that an Xbox One is not a good enough tool to play this Sim so I have purchased an Xbox series X to use. Most of the games that I have beaten (Red Dead Redemption / Ghost Recon Breakpoint / Ghost Recon Wildlands) have been played on a 60" TV screen but I am quickly realising that a new Tv / Monitor would be better, what do you think and what would you recommend for best viewing. I can appreciate that there are some very knowledgeable people playing this Sim so as I'm quite an old Lady for this (68) LOL, please could I ask that you keep the replies simple X
For the full package you need the premium deluxe upgrade. (Additional cost). X Box series X is a great choice. Suggest 30-32’’ 4K monitor for best resolution, but same size with 2560 x 1440p resolution would be great also. TV is not a bad choice especially if it is UHD.
@@SimHangerFS Hi Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me what is the difference between standard and deluxe editions?, is it just the amount of stuff that is available to fly etc?. I cant seem to find the deluxe version available on disc, only downloadable codes. I don't want to download the game as i have done that before , the problem was there was some issues with Xbox crashing etc and i lost the lot and couldn't get any of it back, so a disc is the way forward for me, at least if it crashes etc i can re download it . If its a download it gets lost in space, if its adisc you have full controll over re downloading it, anyway whats the difference betwen them?, thank you
@@jacquelynelmore3282 hi, the difference is the number of aircraft etc. only standard version is available on disc. You could get it via game pass?
@@SimHangerFS yup, when i subscribed to game pass there is a download of flight sim on there, also loads of other games as well, FIFA / Forza / call of duty etc etc but i have to say the flight sim is a BETA version so would indicate that its not fully finished yet an example being that when you follow your instructions for start up to the 747, yes everything goes ok, engines, pushback etc but then all of a sudden the throttle controls seize up and the plane carries on going backwards, really unstable, that's why its on game pass because its just a taster really, the purchased game has to be better. I think the standard version will be ok for me, if i want more planes i can buy them online plus the weather etc.
@@jacquelynelmore3282 on game pass you purchase the standard version only. Upgrade to deluxe and deluxe premium can be done in sim. There is a beta out for sim update 10….avoid this option. Releasing 24 August.
I'm still waiting for Asobo/Microsoft to implement a fix to the controls settings to make the sim automatically select each preset for every peripheral when we select any aircraft, just so we don't have to remember which preset is associated with what aircraft. In other words, we want this simulator to automatically recognize that a yoke, rudder, and throttle presets we have for a Cessna 172 will not work for a Boeing 747 or a 787 and vise-versa.. the simulator just doesn't automatically switch to peripheral presets for a large commercial airliner. That has been a problem since day one.
Can I use Microsoft flight plane assist to move the planes from side to side?
No, you need to use SLEW MODE….press Y on keyboard and then arrow keys .

@@kaza-shim pilot assist is effectively a co-pilot that will help fly the aircraft.

Use the sensitivity settings in control options and turn them into the -70% area

@@AlenSa63 no need to adjust dead zone unless you have ‘’chatter’’ on the axis, then -10%

For some reason it won't let me change my view position, it just does not respond.
Check your cockpit camera setting from the top toolbar…you need to be in pilot and freelook mode

@@TravelingJ1 no, likely your mouse is not compatible. Use a cheap Logitech mouse & keyboard combo. That’s what I use.
Hi, have they fixed the hotas one yet? The last time I tried, it didn't work correctly and wasn't even saving the sensitivity settings
