- This week I catch up with my buddy Dave and we head off for a 3 day adventure deep into the hills to stay at a hidden slice of paradise and fish an incredible piece water.
This is the first of 3 episodes and we kick the trip off in style with some gorgeous fish, caught a variety of methods ranging from dry flys, nymphs and even BIG streamers in some stunning surroundings.

Coming from a world of spin fishing nothing but rapalas, the idea of streamer fishing is almost all I think about. I've been trying to land my first trout on fly gear. I really think I need some kind of mentoring or maybe just more time. I'm hoping to get in the game and on the board. Good news is, fishing by twitching is already in my blood. Fish on! These videos are such an inspiration. Thank you sir. 🎣

If you can afford a guided trip a good guide can really help you get started. Otherwise just grind it. It’s a good reason to hit the river every day you can lol.

That lodge sure is a luxury glamping place to spend some time. I frequent that area on traditional archery bowhunting trips. Another great vid from you thanx for sharing

Very nicely filmed Alex with shots of that beautiful river and lovely fish. Last week I was still in Argentina fishing for dorados. It was all streamer fishing. If I did anything but a strip set with the rod tip pointed at the fish, the dorado got off... every time. I normally nymph in our rivers in the US so I'm not sure if the same rule goes for streamer fishing for trout.

Great stuff as always Alex! I got absolutely addicted to the streamer bite last year. If you haven't already checked out "Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout" by Kelly Galloup I HIGHLY recommend it. That book will revolutionized the way you approach huckin' meat, and fly fishing in general. Keep slayin' it 🤙🤙
There is a slight chance he may have, back a few videos, I heard him say he was using a Kelly fly. Maybe peanut envy? But he did say it was an expensive Gallup fly. After he smashed one of those big slobs on it, he was saying about how it was worth every penny. I'm absolutely with you! That's a really cool place mate and some great fish caught. The streamer fishing with the game changers is very cool. I've tried it a bit with mixed results, but it is definitely a fun way to fish, especially on the walk back, picking a few likely spots. I haven't used gamchangers yet, though, just a variety of big steamers. I will need to go tie a couple of gamechangers for my next trip. Not easy to tie those, so you better reward Dustin 😂😊

Ya mate. Catching fishing stripping streamers is like crack, you just can't get enough. Another epic video. If a guy could just get a better bite to stick ratio "TWSS ??" lol. It can be frustrating to have them crush it, fight like a freight train and then just let go. Save us all a lot of pain and get this dialed in will ya?

Hey mate, started fly fishing because of you 2 years ago, but I have only been fishing locally in the Taupo and Vegas area. I was just wondering what resources you use to research back country fishing, I know you are reluctant to share the locations but I would love to know how you research them as I have spent hours online looking around and have struggled to find much info. Looking forward to the next video ! Im going streamer fishing tomorrow on the Tongariro hopefully I get some action like you.

Ah, stealing streamers are we now? I will tie you one for a week's worth of fishing all expenses included. Just kidding I've been battling an infection for the last two months. There may be surgery in my future so depending on how they cut me up will depend if I even get to fish in September. I am bummed out. Great bit of video. That new rod Orvis has you testing. What is it ? That is if you can even say what it is and going to be?
