Hi, I'm 20 minutes Away from John's old house " Mendips' sometimes when it's quiet & I drive past on my way to Otterspool promenade for a walk, I always look up at the front bedroom window & say ' alright John' now it may be the trick of the light? But I'm sure I've seen a bespectacled face looking out of the window, you never know, after all it was a place he loved & grew up in, I'm only 67, so just missed out on seeing them live, but my older sister used to go down the Cavern to watch them & I grew up listening to their music being played on a tiny record player in her room.
I love Paul's laugh, when John said "we were manufacturing it"!

He wasn't particularly witty at all, actually. Ringo was, and is, wittier than Lennon was.
He was "cheeky", which was refreshing back in the early 60s, and which people mistook for wit. His brand of humour was a blend of Groucho Marx, the Goons (Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine), Ken Dodd and the writings of Lewis Carrol. I don't think Lennon ever said anything witty enough to be considered original or quotable. I could cite hundreds of funny and astute quotes made by Groucho Marx, Oscar Wilde, Mae West, Spike Milligan, WC Fields, Woody Allen, GB Shaw, Dorothy Parker and others. I can't think of a single notable quote attributable to John Lennon. The closest he ever came to being witty was with his "rattle your jewellery" quip on the Royal Variety Show, but that was rehearsed and actually quite lame.
