- This is a horror short film about the Guest.
I recommend watching this short horror film in the dark, with the volume turned up and on the biggest screen you can find. Thats how horror films are meant to be viewed. Sweet dreams. x

🤣
cameramans are immortal
It takes skill to make something terryfying without jumpscares
Yeah but he definitely killed it
It does, it's a very good skill you don't see often in the horror industry, not to say it's terrible to not have it. I'd like to recommend you a certain horror game called Darkwood if you like a good scare without any jumpscares, it's an amazing experience.
Sadly, it’s a very, very rare occurrence. Horror is extremely easy to make compared to other genres (don’t need a good story, don’t necessarily need good actors, just put some loud noises in there and maybe some blood and call it a day), so that’s why there’s not much talent in the horror industry, well at least that’s my opinion. These are the kind of minds needed in filmmaking, and sadly they’re very often overlooked. That’s why when I see something like this, I make sure I help the creator in some way, even if it’s just by liking the video or watching more of their videos.
@@kanex1 totally!! That makeup on the “monster” is just great, I like that he didn’t go the CGI route, CGI just makes things look inorganic to me, so in turn it makes it less scary.

the story is about her suicidal thoughts. she couldn't escape until it got to that point. the guest is (to me) what she believe those thoughts look like. it has the same ear thing as her because it basically is her. the guest wasn't evil really just misunderstood because of how she was struggling and suffering. when she got better the guest will get better. i actually watch this every year since it came out
Words can't describe the terror I felt when the objective and unnoticed camera started FOLLOWING her
A few years ago, I used to have a recurrent nightmare in which I was in some sort of office in a high rise. There was this woman in white working outfit at her desk and she was alone, no one else was around. I was in there too close to her but she couldn’t see me. And suddenly I felt the inexplicable urge to scare her so I’d creep close to her ears and started moaning, and I’d see her face distort with terror all while she began to scream, and the more she screamed, the louder I moaned. Somehow, I was the ghost and yet I was as terrified as her. I always woke up at that moment with chills in my spine...I never could make sense of that dream. I haven’t had it for years now. This film kind of reminds me of this because in the scene you’re describing it feels like we’re looking through the creature’s eyes and your comment reminded me of this similar scenario of my dream.

I have a theory: A bit interesting, at the start it says "If you have suicidal thoughts, tell someone." Everyone in the comments is saying how the story is about the girl having schizophrenia, but the creator of this video has responded to those comments and stated that they're "almost right". I on the otherhand, believe this is a story about suicide. The weird guest thing must be her fears or something shes running away from. Its clear that the guest isnt real as no other humans are able to see it. The guest must represent something the main character hates. Its so ugly that she takes out her eyes and ears. She refuses to see it, but in the end, she has to face it and come to terms with it.
i agree with u
That makes the most sense tbh
THIS IS SO GOOD
the guest is her, the weird eyes from the cleaner stuff and the cut ear from the knife
So its about trauma?
I believe that the presence depicted represented the "demon" of suicide. Very interesting and disturbing, I liked how they personified such an evil but also painful thought, like suicide.

I honestly interpreted this as a woman with schizophrenia and she tried to escape the hallucinations by harming herself. However, the hallucinations are STILL there.
In my opinion, that's why she kept seeing the creepy figure and why she was hearing the breathing. Thus, THAT'S why she burned her eyes, stabbed her ears, and even smacked herself upside the head multiple times. She wants the visual and auditory hallucinations to stop; and unfortunately, it's not uncommon for people with schizophrenia to go through moments like this.
She tried running away, she tried closing her eyes repeatedly, she tried to harm herself ... but you ultimately can't escape your own mind.
Your brain can have unwanted "guests" - i.e. mental disorders.
Love it . couldn’t agree more

Original open-ended ending. Liked it. Pretty efficient visuals, even in plain view it's still highly unsettling.
The captions js made the “scary” creature cute 😭
So 'The Guest' is the embodiment of trauma? Uninvited, haunting, stays. She can try and expose the guest to other people, but no one can see what she sees, because it's hers. How it stares represents the actual event(s) that caused the trauma, while the benign manneurism shows that it's not there to attack or hurt. For some, living with trauma can drive them to insanity or suicide. For others, they learn to co-exist with it or ignore it altogether. Awesome.
Yes, so basically, 'The Guest', apparently is basically herself too, not literally, but what seems to be the ear injuries, wide open eyes of the suspense, and no hair, baldy lol

Can you please make a short film about how society and the treatment system treats people with disorders, traumas? Not only with schizophrenia, but how such people are affected by other people's views, opinions and judgments. In the same genre, I think this topic needs to be covered more

My theory about this film it's that the guest basically looks away at the end because the reason no one can see him/her it's because "the guest" it's Maria. Do you understand what i mean?
Basically i'm saying that the film is a representation of her fears. As you know, the guest doesn't have ears and it doesn't seem like he has real eyes. So... when the woman faces him, she is finally accepting that she is blind and deaf. In other words, the guest was a representation of her own insecurities.
