- To hang with Lee “Scratch” Perry is to spend time with an out-of-this-world creative force. In addition to launching the careers of artists like Bob Marley, the musician and producer left his fingerprints all over the creation of music genres like reggae, dub, punk rock and hip-hop with his imaginative use of technology. Now in his 80s, this sonic pioneer continues to push musical boundaries by incorporating new computer technology into his live performances with Subatomic Sound System.

Rest easy, legends never die
As soon as he said bun interview I have a outer view I knew we was dealing with a real 1
Dwl!!!!
Fr man
@SPIRIT DOT are you joking?
Like they outsulted him
Is a way of saying he didn't want to give an interview.
He’s literally one of the most interesting men alive.
Not really. I always had free entrance to he's shows in L..A. but never care about seeing him. Not the same as he was in the 60's.
One of the 2 worst shows I have seen...might have been a bad night but it was quite terrible
@@OH.A.M. dummy
Rip 🕊
RIP TO HIM, HE PASSED ON SUNDAY
Lee Scratch Perry is like a Reggae Shaman. Nuff respect star
Rest In Peace
I smoked a joint with this LEGEND at a concert and hung out with sub. Literally the coolest/nicest people on earth.
Rest in peace Mr Lee Scratch Perry, you will be missed but your music will live for ever
Was just listening to "Blackboard Jungle" when I heard the news. I smoked a fat one for him. He was my main influence to get into music myself. A really one of a kind genius with his own visions transcending fashion, time and space. His music will be heard for hundreds of years.
I've been lucky enough to meet this great man, I asked him to sign a toaster I bought with me, jools Holland in Jamaica he asks Lee about a toaster on his wall, when I reminded him about it he said, because I'm not a toaster but a positive boaster, which he said on the program, it made my year that moment, I will never ever forget it, reggae in peace Mr Perry
@@jonnymitchell7683 lol I remember that. It was my favorite part of the interview. Did you really get that toaster signed?
LOVE lee scratch. A madman in his own element. His tunes will forever echo thru the caves of time
Lee Scratch is a music alchemist...
Brilliant - there's nobody like him, so totally out there, a pure creative genius that knows no limits to his creativity. From the origins of The Black Ark studios in Jamaica few would have imagined him still bringing innovation to the world of music.
He visited a friend of mine and saw he had a selection of Lee Perry albums, so he asked to take a few. A week later, when visiting Lee Perry at the place where he was staying in Kenton, NW London, he saw his albums had been planted in the garden.
It's a fine line between madness and genius and Lee Perry is the master of the high wire!
We are not having an interview
*we’re having an outer-view*
Deep.
What, it makes no sense and stop modern art-ing every thing
nishan kandel no.. just because it doesn’t make sense to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense. Come to me if you want a clear meaning what he said otherwise keep your rude opinion to yourself.
LOCO JAZZ OK Mr clear meaning haver😂😂😂😂
I got it bro.... soon as he said it, I was like "woooaah... That was cool" 😂
Outer view the appeal of life seeing things out of the box 📦 when he said this is a nice place here his mind wanted to rest there and escape so you can see his true outer shell his comfort zone away from stress
I had a telepathic connection with him at his show and he knew my name without us ever speaking
@8DoPsTa6 😂😂😂
Like all genius, Scratch made the universe behave the way he thought it should.
How many people put there appreciate this type of soul 💞💞👍👏👏👏👏
He still alive.. amazing!!!
You should make a video on Lee "Scratch" Perry. He is a walking quote book.
Many have been made.
Everytime I hear this man music I get the chills.
Bob Marley has created reggae for the 21th century and few know about how good some of it really is.
21st*
If smoking weed for 75+ years gets you looking like him at his his age, then sign me up.
It's the food in the US that's why we look like shit we age
Phillip Smith he doesn’t live in USA he live in Switzerland
I already signed up
Pretty sure in a different interview he said he had stopped a long time ago
@@tippsy4203 🤣
This guy is one of a kind, he plays every instrument, he his a legend!!!
@SPIRIT DOT nooooo man. He just smokes weed. What are you talking about? He is legend! What about you? Loser!
The Reggae celestial from outer space! Legendary Lee $cr@tch Perry!
1. Perhaps only J.S. Bach has had more musical influence on modern music then this man. Dub, *All* Electronic Music, Reggae, Ska, Kaiso, Pop, Dub-Step, Hip Hop, Rap Break Beat, Trip-Hop, Modern Jazz, It all starts with this guy splicing tape reels into Riddims and then looping and over dubbing them.
2. I find it Tragic that the band leader guy mentioned, Bob Marley, The Clash, Keith Richards and then Conveniently left out Peter Tosh. This is akin to saying "Skrillex invented Dub music", it is that blasphemous. Peter Tosh is a musical Genius and deserves to be recognized far far far more than the Clash.
Andrew Hall King Tubby was the first to dub and what lee perry has to do with modern jazz
Respect
Here from Blue Ark, GTA V. I love this man
My dad took me to his concert when I was 14 years old. Since then I have been listening to him.
great dad
Totally, he introduced me to reggae.
Blessed to have seen him at Coachella
EMCH you're very talented as well. You are going to continue the legacy when perry passes. Looking forward to hear your work!
absolutely beautiful video/insight into Scratch thank U
Live long Mr. Perry
Came for an interview but instead got an outerview as well as an insight as to what goes on inside this mans head.
... That’s good enough for me.
LOVE TO LOVE PERRY! HE IS CRAZY IN A MUSICAL WAY THOUGH, HE IS A MUSICAL GENIUS IN HIS OWN RIGHT
Lee is crazy in every way 😁 long live scratchy Perry.
The thought is the mind but the beat of the heart and sound in the ear.
i'd say what he means by magician and scientist is like if you can do things and it just happens and you cant really explain it then you're a magician and if you're a scientist you know all of your things and you're more of a perfectionist you kind of need to know the logic behind everything
You don't overstand Perry you would have to be in his head no scientist or magician can overstand him he is a rare human being
@@talesframyaad9748 I proove you wrong.
Just do
Definitely under appreciated for being a godfather of reggae n rocksteady...
Love love you Lee Scratch Perry. Big up !!!!
As long as you are not exploiting my man - you’re ok with me. RIP Lee - now is your turn to keep it going
I bet he gets to live for 150 years. He's 80? Looks like he's just 40
Me looks 30 while 50 witjout grey hair and he knows the promise with Bob of eternal life and God signs of the time.
May be the colour of hair, a promise of Bob's time.the proof of eternal youth.
@SPIRIT DOT Its obviously an exaggeration bro. Wew
Unfortunately he died a few days ago at 85🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Just bought one of his later albums "Heavy Rain ." This stuff shakes the house .

Legend
Made me wanna light up
Rest in power
Bob Marley always had it tho.. always..R.I.P to a legend who made his Own good musiz
Exactly I don't think perry played guitar so there you go
Perry basically created dub reggae which without a doubt heavily influenced many reggae artists including marley
He created what we know as reaggae today without him the world wouldnt know about Bob Marley
Lee "Scratch" Perry is the artist who really drew me into "heart beat", he's a treasure and a genius and a hero to the world.
Awesome.👍
Temos bons homens que deveríamos estar adorando!!
R.I.Peace, Lee "Scratch" Perry 💔
Interesting- maybe a crazy original!! sho buz~~~
8 years ago,I smoked a fat joint with Lee's band while they were on stage performing. I had tried to hand it to Lee first, but he wouldn't take it.The rest of the band toked it up and passed it back. This was in a very small venue at The Parish in Oakland,CA. A friend of mine,Heavyweight Dub Champion (Grant Chambers) had just opened for him. When Lee was heading to the stage,he walked right past me with a pull behind luggage bag, buttons all over his shoes and hat and 2 young ghetto-lookin' hookers.I didn't recognize him at first and thought he was just some homeless guy. For an old man, he put on a great show and it was an honor to get to see such a legend.
TRUE MASTER!
Rest in peace, Lee Perry.
RIP THE LEGEND - FOREVER!
I wanna meet this guy one day.
Back to the crack and how about the black corner stone ? Rasta never die, rasta never lie, rasta forever faithfull by honesty. .
Bruhh I hate how they used Bob Marley's Name For click bait, Like they just said that the guy influenced Bob Marley but did not say how or why
He used to be a producer and he made the first album of The Wailer. BUT he just simply stole the record profit (as well as many other bands) !!! That is why is relationship with bob and other many reggae bands is not told....
He basically created the Reggae sound and gifted it to Bob Marley(RIP). That's how he influenced bob.
Mannnn. Do u know who this man is??????? Humble yourself
Jaavier Ponce he did though. So shut up
He invented reggae music. Bob was one of the first people that he mentored and produced many of the early songs that Bob remixed
Pure Genius!
He produced bob Marley early songs which are the ones that you hear nowadays that remixes. So indeed he made bob Marley and other reggae artist a star. I also think he created the music reggae.
Songs ? They are fire 🔥
RIP my love
L-S-P is a fun creative soul, god bless him
Heart Beat!
UP!
Proud jamaican over here. ✊🏿🇯🇲. Kinda made me laugh with them putting subtitles on. Might just because I'm used to hearing patois. Haha
Hes cracked....hes not normal, thats why the world cant affect him....he is from another world. He cannot be duplicated or copied. He is original. I dont even like his music but hes still here...
Fire, fire, fireeeeee🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
EVERY HIP HOPPER SHOULD HONOR HIM 👈🙏🙏🙏. YEP I SAID HIP HOP.. 🙄. LUCKY IVE SEEN HIM LIVE.. AMAZING 🙏 🙏 🙏

Nothing wrong with his modern stuff but when with the aggrovators his music was just👌
Guy is a mad geniius
my dad was at one of his concert's and he just took out a joint and started passing it around and the security didn't know what to do so they just left lmao
