This was an electrifying live performance with some outrageously stunning musicians, You just don't get the visceral quality of the music on you tube

What beautiful God fearing loveliness! Played it last week to my 17 year old at home and then my 20 year old at uni. Thanks "Levellers" for introducing me!! In the depths of the horror now in Manchester; myself near Liverpool; this is now going to be the best I can do to show my girls and ALL their friends; the beauty of uniting!! Keep us posted for gigs guys!!!xx

I'll never be lucky enough to see them live (in Australia). I'm 65 and have been following them for years - best celtic fusion band EVER. Especially love Ross Ainslie, Adam Sutherland & recently Duncan Lyall.

scorpiosheep West - I have been fortunate enough to see them live twice - at Sidmouth folk festival and then at a small venue near my home in West Sussex England. Both performances were stunning. I too have a special affection for the talents of Ross Ainslie - I got to speak briefly with him at the second gig whilst he stood outside having a cigarette. I would love to see him and the Irish piper Jarlath Henderson. You never know you might get to see them one day -- they do travel.

I don't know how you can call this pretentious, tuneless (!) and boring as hell (?). Three friends and I left a pipe band once because the guys there thought the only thing worth playing was classic tunes you can hear every time you walk by Scottish souvenir shops along Princes Street in Edinburgh. *yawn. Music changes, adapts. It's always been like that and it won't stop. This stuff by TO is just powerful, innovative and ventures into new ground while sticking to the essentials of Celtic music. This is brilliant. It is not if you're stuck in fossilised principles. Which is also ok.:-) I tend to agree with the deafening sound systems though.

Watching on CZcams it's obvious this band is flowing with talented musicians. It's just a great pity that at Shrewsbury Folk Festival the sound was turned up far too high and we had a resulting wall of sound, without being able to differentiate between the various instruments. The result was several people walking out because the volume was more akin to a pop concert!

Yes, I take ear plugs to some gigs for just in case, deafening loudness destroys the music, & have complained to the organisers of some events, not that it made any difference.

I was right down the front of this gig, you can see me in some shots, and the volume was fine. You could hear everything and there were no problems.

Hi Dan, I guess it was alright for you at the front. I was sitting towards the back of the tent, so maybe the acoustics were different there. I'm 70 so that could also have a bearing on my view of 'sound.' All I can say is that there were rather a lot of people walking out after a couple of minutes. I would love to hear this band in a small hall playing acoustically without massive speaker systems!

Treacherous Orchestra is a great band, I feel so bad for them. The opening song is just cringeworthy but not the bands fault well not entirely. Why Duncan didn't just toss away the bass synth that was either malfunctioning or the sound guy had it out for him. It hurt my soul to see the band members all looking around in horror as the keys notes dropped out. Credit to the band for keeping their composure. Most people would not even notice what I just pointed out, but I have worked for many festivals over the years and I understand.

Why..oh..why are they dressed in black? These are fabulous musicians playing wonderful music...and yet they are dressed like bad bikers off on a commando raid. Such wonderful music deserves the higher vibration of bright colours. Black / dark is out guys......PLEASE.

Pretentious, tuneless and boring as hell.
The folk music of the British isles is magnificent, beautiful, brilliant, dance based and, crucially, tune driven. It's a melodic tradition.
This has more to do with tedious stadium "prog rock" than folk music.
Thanks for posting this video, it was instructive, and confirmed my decision to leave their "spot" at the last festival I saw them at and find something better to do.

    • @india2709ab

Tuneless are you absolutely mad ? This band is made up of the finest musicians on the folk scene at the moment, who in their own right are fabulous singularly. Even if I wasn't their friend/family I would always find this absolutely outstanding and mind blowing. I don't know whether you just listen to shite music but this is out of this world !!

      Oh hey it`s you
The idiot that was leaving hate on the Levellers video as well
Why did you a) Go to the festival or b) Watch the videos if you are unable to stand any change in folk music over time?
This is the best music in the folk scene at the moment, the Levellers are a folk band, tradition changes over time and this is what it is now.
