@@shzmeteor3954 Jep, in WH3 you can easily win the siege by hiding fast heroes, batter down the gate and capture the main point before the enemy even reaches you.
This won't work well when the enemy has a full stack in a main settlement, because then there are too many units spread out all over the map.
@@shzmeteor3954 The enemy in basically every Total War game deploys units based on where it sees you deployed units. If they're hidden, it just magically assumes nothing is there.

For me this 3K will always be CA's biggest betrayal. Discontinuing development just before Chibi and the actual formation of the three kingdoms period.
WHAT! I've been musing playing 3K because it is on Xbox Games Pass on PC and I love the time period (introduced to it through Dynasty Warriors and then went on to study the period in secondary school) and I knew people were annoyed at the cut support but I didn't ever realise it was this egregious!
I would sooner betray CA, then let CA betray me!

There was. The fourth was Yan Kingdom from original Gongsun Du faction in northeast. It was small and they don't even bother put it into the movie. If there's a dlc past year 200, it's literally Total War: Four Kingdoms.

3K had soooo much potential that was squandered. If Koreans and Steppe horse tribes were added along with maybe another flavor addition to some of the initial Han factions making the areas more distinct it could have really been peak

Slightly disagree with having Koreans/steppes as it was wasn't really a focus on romance of the 3 kingdoms, it needed two starting dates, 208 chibi and 217 hanzhong campaign, with 217 start was the formation of the 3 kingdoms and could have offered the challenge of 3 very powerful states duking it out whilst balancing where you focus your armies
@@sirmogwai3607 Sounds like something that would fit best in a format of a "Saga" game like Napoleon or Barbarian Invasions. Easy to make diverse units for the actual three kingdoms, and few minors hanger ones around them too, based on what I've seen displayed by Chinese museums. On TWcenter and SpaceBattles there is a wonderful write-up on their different armors and tactics too, a wonderful read from Crimson Lord.
@@hikkigamer8082that’s too much work for CA, the armor of the soldiers in vanilla game are wildly inaccurate, many of which don’t even exist lol. If you want to play the game I recommend checking out the Unit Model Historical Reskin mod for more accurate armor and weapon, it is infinite better than whatever ca does in vanilla , also check out the More Horse Armor Variation and Color Variation so that the horse actually have armor like they should during this period and and not naked like in base game.
It's still a good game, and there are some interesting mods to play around, but yes, it's really sad how it was just axed after the terrible DLCs didn't sell for some reason.
I am in awe of CA's ability to really knock certain aspects of a game out of the park. I am very confused why they can't put several of these well executed aspects into the SAME GAME.
It feels like CA has massive communication and ego problems among the decision makers. The DLC team got WH2 into a phenomenal state only for WH3 to regress in many ways.
Whenever there's a new Total War game I feel like there's always one step forwards and one step back when it comes to game mechanics.
Probably different teams and people working on each game. Have to wonder if the studio has a high turnover rate

Hey Legend, some notes if you'll be getting back into 3K Romance mode
-Lords obliterate every infantry type except spear infantry who can dismount them, that includes axe and sword infantry
-High level Purple Lords are some of the best duelists because of their really high melee defense and passive melee damage buffs the longer they're fighting (ie duels)
-Red Lords can wipe out blobs because of their Morale nukes (Roar) and "Bombardment" (Flames of the Phoenix) nukes, they can be decent duelists as well especially if they have Flames of the Phoenix and good equipment
That s why i was not a fan of this 3k. All this fantasy BS is not for me.
@etienne8110 then play records mode. 3K was easily the last good TW game. It only failed because the DLC team was retarded and started with something 100 years after the main story people are interested in.

@@etienne8110 The historical fan of TW in me agrees, but I also happen to love the Romance of 3K which was why I actually enjoyed Romance mode, but I agree that knowing the strengths of Lords in Romance mode just trivialized the game, especially just using Lu Bu to straight up wipe out an entire faction all by himself

Three Kingdoms grew on me with time. The art style and setting are excellent, even if the battles and late campaign are meh.

Same, I couldn't bring myself to play it for the longest time but I sat down and actually learned the mechanics and its surprisingly a decent game
ye the start of the campaign is the best in all of total war games, the generals give this game a move invested playstyle, and if you a fan of the settings you cannot overstimated how cool it is to play as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian/Ce or even warmonger Lu Bu
Ive not got this game yet but have been looking at it for awhile, as far as I can see, 3K is just missing the raw and brutal feeling and battlefield depth of the older games like Shogun 2 and Medieval 2, but there aren't any deal breakers I think. I wonder what the mod scene is like for this game thoufh
Honestly, the setting is what made me absolutely uninterested in this game. To some degree that's entirely subjective (just not really into chinese history, same for Japan with Shogun). On the other hand, the geography just sucks for a total war game in my opinion. The mediterranean is absolutely perfect, and Japan is decent too. The 3K map is just... plain. With all other TW games you have islands, mountain ranges seperating lands, peninsulas, oceans etc - that's just lacking for me.
It's not fault of the developers though - it's just the way chinese geography actually is. I just don't think it lends itself to a total war game.
I think if you want to go for a less eurocentric game, there's better options. India would be an option.
At the end of the day, it was an obvious cashgrab for the chinese market, which I'm honestly fine with.
Three Kingdoms got the archery mostly right, a stream of arrow fire, rather than musket style volley shot at the same time. I hope they keep this in future iterations. IF there are future iterations 😂
Volley fire for archers did exist as well, usually a shock maneuver and to cause a collaspe of the front line of charging cavalry which could completely stop a charge due to the obstacle now created from the following riders.
There is also something to say for controlled fire in general as saving ammunition by capitalising on opportunities of increased accuracy and power (largely range, but also ambush situations or when a unit has been charged from behind, etc.).
That said, yeah, due to the fire rate being quick and each man's personal power and accuracy being different (especially due to exhaustion) it was usually more beneficial to allow them to fire at will. Crossbows and muskets changed this dramatically due to the long reload times and mechanical accuracy/power causing a much more uniform fire rate than didn't suffer too much from being controlled. Also, particularly with firearms, the direct fire benefitted from synchronised kneeling to allow the ranks behind to fire while the ranks up front reloaded.

I loved this game, it had a lot to offer on the campaign side. Corruption that you couldn’t ignore or you would go broke, the family tree was awesome, offices for your Lords, and important duties for your agents. BUT the factions never felt complete and definitely not polished.
I recently played the campaign with the TROM mod, maybe you should give it a try. They basically finished what CA never did.

You can say many things wrong with 3K, but holy it looks good. Hope this upwards trend in your stats keeps up Legend, you are a great content creator and you have worked hard for it! (although I sometimes miss sassy sarcastic little shit Legend sometimes :p).

There are a good number of problems with 3K, but personally it has become one of if not my favorite total wars, it's got a lot of nice flavor and actually got me to read the book the Romance.
some times little shit peeks out, but at least he does not take over the stream. i prefere grown up supportive legend tbh. but yes lets never let the shit part of him die because i also realy love it about him ;)

@@thethirdsicily4802 Once you play 3k you cant go back to other titles (if you are interested in this period/culture setting, that is) . 3K has amazing diplomacy, mechanics like court / spy system/ characters and the strategic warplay and the transition to the late game with faction rivals is something that I can't do without anymore.
@@dimel1347 You're so right. I've tried getting back into the Warhammer games which got me into Total War in the first place, and man do they suck. I play about 10 turns, and just feel drained without actual diplomacy and a good character system.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of my favorite books and I'm a huge fan of the Koei strategy games of the same. Would love to see some more 3K content from Legend.
Ahh, TW3K, the only TW where diplomacy is something to rely on and to persue. And each start position is with it's own challenges.

Records mode is unbalanced, the heroes (heavy Elite cavalry) are even stronger than in romance mode

I really think you might like playing 3k on records mode. No dueling and generals have bodyguards like in Medieval 2 and Rome. Probably more to your style. Romance mode does allow you to cheese more however. You can have generals without armies on the field. Without troops they cost nothing to call up and only upkeep for them happens whether they are on the map or not, so they can be moved around a lot and you see how powerful they can be just fighting alone. I want to add one thing, roar of the beast with it's -18 morale hit, this plays into your style so hopefully you'll use it more.
It's interesting. 3K is in kind of a reverse Attila state. It's battles are kinda meh with little variation. But damn I'd argue it has the best campaign mechanics, campaign AI, and Endgame of the franchise. Both games were victims of the circumstances around their release.

@@fez7670 the thing is that TWW3 was always a glorified expansion that had to use the previous Warhammer games' engines too. They're not gonna rework an entire engine just for game 3. The real tragedy is them not making any _good_ TWs after 3K, cos obviously they had diplomacy down with 3K.
I sincerely hope they come back to 3K, but people coming back to old games aren't gonna give them revenue, and they can't make a cheap "sequel" to try to fool customers, not when things are so fucked right now for them.
What circumstances?
From what I've seen, most people that shit on 3k never bought the game, never played the game, have no idea of the history behind the Three Kingdoms, have no idea on how the Three Kingdoms came from a heroic narrative much akin to the Odissey and Illiad with larger-than-life characters, and have, as such, no idea of what the intent behind the design choices were (like single units - though their implementation may be discussed). Like, yeah Med2 and Shogun 2 were great games, and there are places where 3k falls short, but the amount of absurd comparisons some sections of TW's community are making is simply astounding. Anyway, just a rant, keep it up Legend o/
Would love some 3k or Atilla streams. Especially with convo's about what we'd like to see from newer games brought to a proper historical title like Medieval 3. Be nice to see you go through and highlight the strengths and weaknesses of newer Total Wars.

@jeansanchez2805 Loading for me is 10-15 seconds. But regardless, that is optimization, not the engine. It is the same engine as Atilla btw. Which Atilla was heavily slated on release for its terrible performance and optimization.
So, none of your issues are with the engine. They're with how they're making the game, not the engine that runs the game.
@jeansanchez2805 Are you using an SSD? One of the stealth changes in recent titles compared to Rome 2 etc. is that an SSD is part of the min requirements now.
The soundtrack in 3k is absolutely amazing. One of my favourites among TW games.

A little information about heroes in this game would be:
1/Yellow general: He and most of his troops will have higher than normal morales, a good support and average stats, not so bad and can defend themself in melee, but don't expect them too much. He can command most melee cavalry and can be replacement as command for Archer.
2/Green Hero: Frontline tank and good duelist with highest hitpoint in the game, They and their troop will hold the line for some damn long time. Good duelist, command spearman and will be the frontline tank, can fight together with Yellow or Purple
3/Blue hero: Best support for campaign Army, best when sp range troops and artillery. Very quishy, best stay back to sp troops, or equip with a bow for long range snipe.
4/Red hero: Highest damage hero, often come with AOE and morale defbuff, decent duealist , best in command together with other calvary. But don't have much in hp and melee defense.
5/Purple hero: Best duelist due to highest melee defense, even bordering immortal in duel due to almost 90% dodge change. In command of melee troop and can fight together in frontline with Green and Yellow Hero,

3Ks UI looks slick. Also I like the way heroes & lords unit cards are bigger and the 2 rows of units could help in really big battles with loads of units. Would be neat if you could drag the units between top and bottom rows.
Agreed. I think it's the best TW UI to date. It FEELS good to click and the sound design plays a huge role in that.
3 kingdoms is most likely my favorite total war game. Shogun 2 close second. I just love the setting and the potential for roleplay with all the cool characters/heroes so much. My biggest critique is that it had the potential to be so much more. I would have also loved to play in the seven warring states period (where the Kingdom manga takes place so ~250-200 BC). Still, this is a great game. I remember having to defend against Jenny, her outnumbering me 4 to 1. She brought her entire force, I assume. I had catapults and tried to buy time while pelting her units down from afar, spears trying their best at the front. It was an amazing battle and the most fun I've had in TW in a long time. It felt epic. I still have the replay and watch it every once in a while.
I haven't played too much WH1/2, but they were fun games. Definitely played WH2 at all. Didn't have the chance to play (or look into) WH3 at all.

The Key to duelling in 3K is abilities - the AI calculates for raw stats and only accepts/offers when it’s going to win.
- Damage abilities are good to take chunks off the enemy.
- Buffs are better. Zhao Yun is a great dualist because his buff increases the longer he’s in melee. He becomes an absolute beast after about a minute, which the AI hadn’t calculated.
Debuffs are best, though - park a strategist next to the duel and pop an AOE “no defence for 30 seconds” ability and watch the enemy health melt without counting as interference.
The latter is best because it feels like the characters are cheating - which is exactly what the legendary 3K strategists were like.
Been playing Three Kingdoms a lot recently, it's a great game!
I remember playing that arcade console games set in the 3K era with my brothed back in the day so I was at least a bit interested on the setting, but this games reallly grew on me. The artwork was amazing and the province management really had me hooked!

Hi legends. Nice seeing you getting back to 3K. One little thing with 3k here is that except for the spear, halberd and cav units, generals can just charge right through in a line and cause massive destruction. Even with cav, if you stack enough generals together ( 6 is enough), they can just make quick work of the horsie
I played the old PS2 games of Romance of the Three Kingdoms so i had high hopes for this game when it was announced,sadly CA did the now usual cheap dlc of a few "new" character and really shafted the player base. They could've done soo much more with this game, thankfully there are mods that add units and some other quality of life fixes. One can dream of a time and place where CA listed to player feed back and looked at what features players loved from the other titles and implement some of those into a new one WITHOUT predatory dlc nonsense, a pipe dream this is. Good to see older games getting a spotlight Legend!

I also started and almoat finished a 3K campaign. Some tips: good generals are key. Facing or having a good general will make or break your army.
2 units artillery are a must in your army
Low tier and low lvl units will break very easily when getting charged in the back

3K content??!!?! Awesome! I think it is severely overlooked by the TW community. I get the overpowered generals feels a bit too fantasy-like (I think actual named characters adds a lot to the overall atmosphere) but the campaign gameplay is amazing and you can really get up to some devious stuff. If you haven't played Cao Cao, I'd say he'd be a good choice for loads of diplomacy and treachery shenanigans or if you have the Mandate of Heaven DLC Liu Chong has one of my favorite signature units in the game, a deadly crossbow/spear combined arms unit called the Chen Royal Guard.
Omg, my 2nd favorite Total War game (mostly because my nation is right next to China and the Three Kingdoms itself really massive in my nation).
Also I think the bandit OC character is pronounced Jeng Jee Ang or something.
3 kingdoms media is just really popular anyway even if the viewer doesnt care about the history lol. I guess thats how entertaining and deep the story behind it is
The funnest way I play TW3K battles is to treat it like Dynasty Warriors pinball. lol.
Have the generals cycle charge in this order:
1. Mounted units if they are faster than your generals and pursue you
2. Generals that heal/evade (they become too powerful especially when they get buffed from fallen allies)
3. Blue strategist generals
4. Other generals
5. Purple sword and board units
6. Red mounted units
7. Blue ranged units (keep a few of them alive because they can start fires in mid/late game)
8. Green spear units (never charge them from the front when they are braced because they can perma-dismount generals for the whole battle).
9. Yellow mounted units
Charge each unit once to activate their fatigue, then kite them around the map till they're exhausted, then charge them repeatedly. Use the charge speed increase to bounce from one unit to the next and weave past intercepting units. Fakeout charge with one general in the front to get the unit to brace and then charge from the sides or rear with the others. Make the enemy run over their own caltrops and stakes. Always use fire to your advantage whenever possible and kite the enemy through stuff that is burning (super easy win).
3:04, Not only Zhao Yun is an amazing duelist, he's de facto best duelist in the whole game. Also, in situations like this, I'd usually just wait for them to sally out than to micro manage settlement battles.

He is the main reason to play Gongsung Zan faction.

He may be the best, but I'd put forward that Guan Yu is the most satisfying. God of War is just such a nice ability to use, and when it hits, my god does it hit.

I don't remember what campaigns you've done already, but I'd be interested in seeing you tackle Cao Cao or Yuan Shao who got revamped campaign mechanics in the last major update. Some of the unique dlc campaigns like the Emperor in Mandate of Heaven or Sun Ce in A World Betrayed could be interesting too. I've also been having some fun with Liu Yan (which I think is in the Fates Divided dlc?) in the 190 start -> compromising your early game with de-buffs on purpose to reap the rewards later is an interesting idea.
Really happy to see Three Kingdoms get another chance from you. The super-strong generals are pretty love it or hate it, but the game feel (most fun cavalry in any total war imo) and rock-paper-scissors battlefield gameplay is some of the most satisfying in the series for me.
With the right mods added 3k imo is the best Total war from the modern games. I'm huge fan of the time period DW and ROTK were some early games i played that got me hooked.
3K is in a great place right now...need to pick up the community fix for sure and various mods add flavor...there are a lot of faction variety and i like to play the earliest start possible and follow history as best as possible...its a lot of fun
I recently restarted playing 3K. For me it's got easily the best campaign mechanics outside of Warhammer, and it has the best diplomacy. The general units can be a bit OP, but it fits the whole 'Romance' setting.
By the way, the Fallen Oathsworn ability goes off if another general they're friends with dies, so when you killed Zheng (Jenny) he went berserk, started healing, got buffed and charged for the nearest enemy. I've often found that once they berserk and start attacking, even when they stop they continue toward the thing they had been targetting. It's a useful way to isolate enemy generals.
Also the biggest problem with 3K was the biggest problem with WH3 (and a lot of other titles) - the AI. Particularly in sieges it could be absolutely thick as mince (as demonstrated by this battle).

Awesome battle! Warhammer was my first total war, and three kingdoms was my first historical game I tried/played. Loved 3k, the game made me binge watch the entire three kingdoms TV series! Thanks for all the content, Legend!

20:58 Yes, the wood stakes were added later. There are also deployable towers and oil traps now.
Also, the hard counter to generals now are spears and ji units. Even a basic peasant spear unit can poke your generals off the horses. Once a general falls off a horse he/she is much more vulnerable. Some purple units with counter charge trait are dangers for generals as well. Also cav spam kills generals fast.
So yes, you can pretty much win with just generals if you have 2+ good fighters in an army (my Zhang Fei got 2500 kills by himself in one battle), but it won't work if the enemy have too many cav and spears/ji.
Legend of Total Diversity has got to be the coolest thing to have happened in these past few months.

It's cool seeing a 3K vid on your channel. It wound up being one of my favorite TW games even though I didn't have that much interest in it going in. I put so many hours into it at times that going back to Warhammer here and there felt weird.
This is currently in my top 3 favorite total wars. It was such a refreshing time period and I liked the option between more Dynasty Warrior esque or traditional. It just felt like a huge slap in the face from CA when they stopped developing for it and said the rest will be a new game

Now that's interesting, just wanna say thanks to you now I returned to Shogun 2 also still looks great, altough it lacks QoL of new titles like ALT move the entire army is great in new titles, even number of units that you have 10/20 units is not showing and you need to guess by looking at the banner. Otherwise it looks great, sounds great to this day, Naval battles in FotS are stunning.

I love total war three kingdoms, in my top 3 TW games. While CA stopped Support I still find the game great and would love to watch Legend do a livestream of it.
The historical mode is actually quite enjoyable with the TROM TUP MTU mod package, I know you don’t usually do MODs but I am currently playing a historical play through for the first time and may have a battle to send you. Even tho Zheng Jiang had a gold weapon and Zhao Yun only had a silver (she also has 7k more health), his melee evasion is 46% and hers is 10%. Melee attack 40 to 24 in favor of Zhao as well. If Zhao has tenacity of steel, uping melee evasion and melee attack as the duel goes on longer, he probably wins. Every time I have Zhao Yun on a campaign, he duels almost everyone he can instantly. If they're dumb enough to accept challenges, he can win all 3 duels fast enough to get the health regen from all of them lol. Only real challenges throughout most campaigns are the other 'best duelists' like Guan Yu/Lu Bu and other champions/sentinels buffed by oathsworn deaths. You can also cheat by focusing enemy generals down with spears/missiles, then challenging them after they're chunked lol.
As much as I love three kingdoms, too much can be done with an army of just 3 elite generals. As you showed here, 3 generals can destroy an entire army by themselves by picking each unit off one by one. All except for spear infantry...which they can still do if they dismount and use splash attacks/fire/morale debuffs. So much of the early-mid campaign can be done with armies composed of JUST generals and its so much fun for that dynasty warriors feel, but I understand why people don't like that aspect of the game. I think 3K gives a greater diversity and replayability to campaigns due to the generally unified recruitment pool of characters, though. So much of the fun of it to me is seeing what wacky assortment of historical leaders I can cram into my faction by the time I declare myself emperor. The amount of faction-wide bonuses you get at that point is bonkers and makes end game ridiculous if you've employed multiple faction leaders. Really makes endgame more fun and diverse than other TW's I've played. Each playthrough becomes more unique from previous campaigns as you progress depending on what characters you end up getting/keeping.
Almost every campaign is also relatively challenging by endgame if you dont exploit the diplomacy system. The limited scope of the game I think helps with endgame difficulty. Many minor factions often actually create alliances to overthrow you and other rising powers. Almost every campign for me, there's an alliance with atleast 5 factions in it. Yes, they have trouble 'uniting' in their wars a lot of the time, but there's no real hiding space on the map like you can with certain factions in games like warhammer 3. Everything is open, and by endgame, everyone sees everyone and can relatively reach everyone. By the time you actually win by getting all 3 seats, you usually have had to take the majority of the map along the way anyways. I kind of like that as oppossed to just ending my warhammer games whenever because IE is too big to bother with past the long campaign victory. Uniting all of china after getting 3 seats feels more feasible and fun as a post-post endgame lol. They definitely missed the mark by adding in 8 princes as oppossed to expanding on the wuhuan/xiliang tribes or even adding korea to the map or something. A map expansion and/or extra cultures would have done SO much for the game.
Generals basically work like this:
Red: good vs infantry(splash damage) / weak vs dueling (Great shock cavalry commander)
Green: armour pricing, good vs generals / can be glass cannon (great recruiting spears)
Blue : debuff enemy units (reduce block chances and armour) / weak to any damage (your range recruiting general)
Purple : best at dueling (high block chances) buffes troops range and melee block chance / (recruit sword and axes units)
Yellow : Buff to moral, can buff troops to100% melee block chance and unbreakable for 20 seconds / can recruit a little of everything but but it recruit melee cavalry sword and shield (high range block chance)

One problem I have with 3K as I'm playing it recently, is that on very hard battle difficulty, your troops just fight like shit. You HAVE to sending your generals to grind down anything other than spears and cav, then your troops can have a chance in battle without getting tear to shreds.
It's not terrible, but there's not enough alternative tactics. Sniping enemy generals doesn't seem to do much, and also generals are tanky so it's also not very efficient.
Like in this battle, Legend could've probably cycle charge into the mob of bows, axes and swords and pretty much wipe them out. As long as he stays mobile and rest every once in a while, those units can't really deal damage to generals. Then sent ji and cav to target enemy generals.
It's really the only efficient way to fight in 3K.
What I've done is installed a mod that removes the bonuses from harder difficulties, but keeps the AI changes that make them smarter.
Random fun fact for those that don't know. A leveled up Vanguard(red) with no enemy generals to check him is practically a dynasty warrior until they get tired. spears may knock em off their horse, but they'll just proceed to kick ass on foot.

If you need a quick debrief on the different commanders and on the game in general: purple, sentinel is the best at staying long in the fight(has the highest melee defence and hp). Red, vanguard is the best at fighting units with many entities(is like shock cavalry, can deal a lot of damage very quickly). Blue, strategist is the best at supporting units, both your ordinary with many entities as well as commanders. Green, champion is supposed to be the best at dueling, but as you may have already figured it out there are many legendary lords in the game which don't exactly confer to these dogmas, such as Lu Bu who is the best at everything(as he should be) and wrecks everyone and everything. What makes this game standout are the different layers it has, especially in diplomacy, as for example you can recruit almost anyone you want including legendary characters(like Lu Bu) through various means, wether it's obsorbing their faction or luring someone from their court into yours, using your spies to sow discontent inside their court to begin with. I hope you try out at least 1 full campaign with this game because there have been a lot of improvements to it.
now lets hope he gets an empire disaster sent in and its has a naval battle.
3 Kingdoms has the best diplomacy and strategy of any TW game, shame they didn't flesh out the tactical aspect more

I absolutely loved 3K, the battles felt so meaningful, the calvary charges are so devastating, the ranged units feel strong, but not overpowered (for the most part). I really wish that we could get the battling of 3K with magic of Warhammer, it would be perfect. Then the campaign AI, the end game of 3K into Warhammer, and it would be literally the best thing ever... Or y'know, they could have not abandoned 3K and make it the best Total War game ever, but... you do you CA.... Let's see how far more it will take you...

With 1 or 2 more years in development, I genuinely think 3K would’ve been one of the best titles in the franchise. But sadly it is what it is, Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms still reigns supreme. At least we have a significantly better diplomacy system I would retroactively implement in old games

I actually got back into 3 Kingdoms 2 weeks ago. Nearly finished with a Yellow Turban He Man campaign. It's different, but fun for sure.
On legendary difficulty, range unit will usually staying close with melee infantry. And when you attacking them, I found that AI most likely go into loose formation to drag you spending more time in killing them all while buying time time for their melee infantry, especially spear units to dismount you. If your general are alone, AI general will go after you if your movement speed is close to them and the AI general will try to chase you down together with their cavalry units.
Loving this video, hope you upload some records mode gameplay some day.

About the Heroes:
There are only two Unit Types which are good against them:
- Spear Units, because they can dismount them and the heroes are not thet strong on foot
- red cavalry: They are the Way to go against any Lord. Even Lü Bu gets detroyed by a few Units of them
The weapons are the most factor in duels. if you have a better weapon the type and stats of your enemy Hero do not matter that much
And one more Thing:
The the Opponents Army was really really bad against Heroes. Normally they are extremely strong but not able to win battles alone.
Should definitely play some Three Kingdoms campaign.
