We need more celtic music in the world. especially now.
I think the oboe is one of the most beautiful instruments ever - so haunting
Thou art awesome.
Haunting.... thanks... I now have spent today not able to pick up my oboe withought thinking about "haunting" -_-
(on a more positive, it's is one of the best!!! Cor Anglais is better ofc... and Harpsichord #1.... then Cor Anglais...)
So schade, dass es das Lied so nicht auf Spotify gibt. Seit 14 Jahren höre ich es immer wieder hier auf CZcams 😄
the fisrt song's name is "Suite Française" from the Album "Bach en Stock" by Micamac.
Can't get enough of Celtic folk music.
Everyone is talking about the oboe but the harp solo at the beginning is just sublime and, I think, the best part of this gorgeous piece
An heroic battle against opressors on the 2nd mouvement , Chouans ? ... An exhilarating dance ... superb. The two movements reveal the beauty of an harmonious whole. Complete, subtle and strong.
This piece is a combination of two melodies. Both of these melodies are Celtic, but not in the way that most people think of “Celtic,” as neither melody comes from the British Isles.
The first melody (ending at ~2:07) is called Españoleta (or “Spagnoletta” in Italian, the language in which it’s often referenced). It’s Celtic, but in an ancient sense, originating in the northern Iberian Peninsula (Spain), where the roots of the Celtic kingdoms of Gallaecia and Astures continued to influence the culture well after the kingdoms fell (they even still play bagpipes in Asturias). This Españoleta melody dates back to at least the early 1600s.
The famous Spanish composer, Joaquín Rodrigo, quotes the Españoleta in his Fantasia para un Gentilhombre: czcams.com/video/bGD_LjT4psE/video.html
It can be heard in an arrangement published in 1612 here: czcams.com/video/FN1jSNWD-ic/video.html
The second melody (beginning at ~2:13) is called An Dro Gweharall (an “An Dro” is a dance) that sometimes goes by the name of “The Wren” or “Breton An Dro.” It’s also Celtic, but comes from the Brittany Peninsula (north-western France). I’ve never been able to figure out how old this melody is, but it was at least published in the late 1800s.
It was made famous by Carlos Núñez: czcams.com/video/Cn9vbcZ0brg/video.html
As “The Wren,” Maggie Sansone has a great performance of it: czcams.com/video/T2CeFOZVhPw/video.html
It’s most sublime rendition comes from this LifeScapes album: czcams.com/video/1un2Z6D5378/video.html

Thanks for the information; I have had this video in my favorite's playlist for a lond time and I have never known which melodies were. You have given to me important knowledge that I will never forget

I doubt anyone will understad what im saying but if you have ever heard the soundtrack for the game Elder scrolls 4: Oblivion, then you will really appriciate being able to finally find a peice of music that reminds you of such a heavenly soundtrack : ) or vice- versa.
This is absolutely beautiful. The music was absolutely amazing. Everything about it was pure perfection. I say awesome job to all these musicians. You have left me in awe.
Angelico!!! Divino !!! nada igual, parece que baja del cielo te da la impresion de flotar entre las nubes,, una musica llena de paz y armonia GRACIAS!!!!!
This makes me wanna play oboe again, its my favorite instrument ever
@Eclipseoraw i wouldn't listen to it everyday, because it gets less nice after a while, you become habituated to it. i olso love celtic music, and sometimes i come across such a beautifull song and i listen to often and it isn't as beautifull as it was before.
This music is just sublime. Thank you so much for sharing these videos of Celtic music with us. Eugene Sidorov is simply superb on the Oboe
oh, and about the performance, it's done so well! It's so full of culture! I really feel the serenity and peacefullness that only celtic music can portray.
The oboe is such a beautiful instrument!
this song is very magical bordering on perfection, and the oboe stole the show
After 4 years of playing the harp I always wanted to give up because i couldn't pass grade 6. It's videos like this that stops me from quitting :)
Yeah, don't quit. There aren't too many harpists in this world. It's a fine instrument.
The time will come when you take center stage! Patience will bring you there; have faith in your skills and instrument. Believe me, I've been there. The oboe sounds like the most awful thing for at least the first 2 years of playing.
If you close your eyes and listen to it , you'll be dwelling into space of eternal sooth...
unbelievably beautiful !
Que maravilloso!!! Gracias por compartirlo
One of the most beautifully pieces of music I've ever heard.

@theerasmussoldier
I left that comment 10 months ago, and you know what?I still listen to this song regularly. I'm ashamed to admit that no, I've not listened to this EVERY day(if that's even something to be ashamed of), but I haven't forgotten it either.
What can I do though? I'm a mere human being who sometimes allows passion to get the better of himself.
Absolutely captivating from start to finish.

ES4:O has absolutely beautiful music worthy of any concert that remains in the same fashion and vein as this.
I listen to the ES4:O soundtrack when I do things around the house. It's relaxing, and I also listen to it while writing my short stories. It's a style of music that sets a mood and portrays so many emotions. It will always be highly admired by many. Thanks for bringing that up!
