Just bought a Hyundai Palisade (Calligraphy) for the wife. Local dealership didn't have and couldn't get the color we wanted. It seems that dealers don't like to order anything other than Black, White, Silver and Graphite. After an exhaustive search, we found one in the color we wanted (Dark Blue exterior with white leather interior). It was $1200 less than our local dealer was selling them for, AND they gave us $1000 more for our trade than our local dealer offered. The dealership knew they had a good price on it and wouldn't negotiate. Regardless, even without negotiating, the $2200 swing was well worth the 3 hour drive to buy and take delivery of it.

I loved the surprise at the end with Kia. Walked into a Kia dealership last week and the "scam sicker" already had an $1,800 increase above MSRP. I was still interested in the Seltos but when we got to the table they had non-negotiable extended warranties and fees totaling over $5k. When we pushed back it turned from driving the car and looking at the numbers to "what can we do to have you take the care home today". Even after that they didn't lower the price at all because people will pay that much above sticker.

The biggest issue I had with my local Chevy dealership was the bait and switch. In 2013 I was in the market for a new car and wanted a Cruze. I found one advertised on the dealer’s website at $22,000, and went in for a test drive. This car was a 2LT model with the two tone seats, pioneer stereo system, and a sunroof. They sent me on an overnight test drive, so when I came back in the morning I was sold and told them I’d take it. It was at this point that they pulled their bologna of telling me that they had accidentally advertised the wrong stock number for the price, and told me that I would have to take a 1LT model with the regular touchscreen stereo, the simple black seats, and no sunroof. In the end they got the raw end of the deal because I made them throw in virtually everything I could for the price they had already advertised for. I got the gap insurance($500), I got the extended warranty ($1500), I got all of the BS paint and interior protection mumbo-jumbo($500), I got remote start installed($400), window tint($150), and factory floor mats($200) and other things I don’t remember included in their original price. I made them give me free oil changes and tire rotations for the life of the warranty also. Told them I’d walk and blast their Yelp and Facebook pages with bad reviews if they didn’t play ball. They would have done better to give me the original car they’d sent me home with. Dickheads. Maxie Price Chevrolet in Stone Mountain Georgia, Corvette superstore.

100% right on Kia... at least from the dealership I dealt with last week. Was trying to get a decent deal on a K5 GT Line. They had tacked on $3,000 dealer profit to the price. Couldn't even get them to go down to MSRP. The more I sat there listening to them go on and on about the chip shortage and car shortage I thought there was no way I was going to even pay MSRP on a Kia (of all makes). Plus they contradicted themselves about four times in the 30 minutes I sat there with the sales manager. Frustrated I stopped at the Subaru dealer on the way home. Test drove a Legacy and ended up buying it. No games, treated me like a human being and I got it for 5% below MSRP. It was actually a pleasant experience and I know I got the better vehicle.

I almost bought a Equinox last month. It was a nice red, equipped like I wanted, and was at a good price. The salesman walked inside while I was getting my check book for the deposit. Going back by, I put a small "moon eyes" sticker on it. I always do that after I almost got in the wrong car once. Went inside and wrote a check for the deposit and filled out the finance papers. I went back to work and later they said my loan was approved and I could pick the car up the next morning. (Saturday, it was getting late on Friday). Signing the final papers, I noticed it said it was black. When I asked about the color, the salesman told me I had looked at a black car. I asked to look at the car. No moon eyes sticker. THAT car, with my sticker, was out by the street to draw traffic. The manager got rather stuffy with me insisting I had bought a black one. I showed a picture on my phone of the car I wanted to buy. I walked out. They didn't want to return my deposit. I put a "refer to originator" order on it. I now have a very nice little CX-5 and couldn't be happier.

Oh one I had issues with last year is my local toyota dealership here in Pennsylvania. I wanted a Tacoma. They had 2019 models on the lot with 2020 models starting to come in too. They expected full msrp on the 19. They wanted 799 doc fee. They were trying to get me to accept a higher interest rate than I thought I should get with 800 credit score. Low balled my trade and made up a story about the automatic transmission grinding. Said they couldn't find me keys when I said I was done not buying today and it time to leave. I had to talk to the sales manager before the keys were magically found.
I stalled out on buying for a while and did eventually buy a Tacoma 8 month later at Bill Kidd's Toyota in Timonium MD. The deal was fair, no monkey business and I was very pleased with how professional they were. The difference in dealerships was night and day.

Also side note, every new car in the country is marked up and over msrp folks , its the biggest all time sellers market of all Time and there is no inventory , if you want to haggle , keep your car until the shortage is over which is estimated to be 2023.used cars cost more than brand new even after markup and Chevy has enough chips to get them thru October and then are stopping production until at least March...and they're not the only brand , I work for toyota and it's the same story .so car.prices will only go higher. My mom was forced to wait in that room as they got her AWD Sportage for 8 hours and then it wasn’t even the correct car it was a front wheel drive

Wow! I sure feel fortunate to have gotten my custom ordered 2021 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody below MSRP from a dealership in Las Vegas (also pronounced as "Lost Wages"). This was in the midst of the Brampton Plant shutdowns.

Bought a car from them about 4 and a half years ago. I was working for TCSO at the jail and went to their dealer right after i got out of work. The amount of sales man that were standing around inside and outside compared to the amount of sales man that disappeared when I got of my car was hilarious. They were gone. Decent experience tho and they sold me a good vehicle.

Hyundai also doesn’t honor their warranty. Never buy from them

We have a franchise auto dealer where I live that is notoriously bad, yet they still have tons of customers. Not sure how they've managed to stay in business and not burn all of the local population out on their BS, but they've been around for over 30 years now and just keep getting more auto brands under their control.

My local KIA dealership wants your phone and email before you see their inventory. So I just put in theirs. Later on they were investigated because they were lying on peoples' finance applications. The worst one was a guy whose income was stated 10x over what he actually made.

Doc fee is not required by law in many states. It is purely another hidden profit center for the dealer.

I bought a 2017 Kia Niro new and in retrospect they definitely took me for way more than I should have paid. Love the car, but will never go back to that dealer.
Decided after that experience that I'd never go in blind like that again. My wife and I just bought a used a 2013 Ford F-150, and your videos had us super prepared for everything. Got a great price on exactly the truck we wanted, and got good trade in value for her Nissan, all thanks to binge watching your videos. Definitely will sub and keep watching.

I sell Kias and my dealership in particular has chosen not to mark them up, however, many dealers are doing this.
