I think in usa and europe people like kpop bcs they mix their songs korean and english most XG lyrics are in english thats why they dont blow up yet. I hope they going big global these girls are amazing good

There’s another Japanese CZcamsr said that the music is R&B of the late 90’s and early 2000’s but the style here is mid-century. From the clothes and the round chair. The space ship design and aesthetics especially with Maya and Hinata’s scene with the wood panel and orange color motif. She also mentioned the Stanley Kubrick influences. Oh, I haven't seen this. Yeah I think I might prefer this to Shooting Star. Either one is not really my vibe but I can appreciate the talent and videos. Good call on the Aaliyah, TLC R'n'B kinda vibe. Some of the clothing even looks similar. It's something like that but a more modern sounding production (hit hats really stick out), with sounds from modern synths, and more up tempo than Aaliyah's or TLC's more popular stuff.
It's hard to say because Pop music pretty much hit a brick wall in 2K. Where as every previous decade had a definitive style/sound 2k on, besides refinements in mixing, recording, gear, and the move to totally DAW based productions in some cases, has been pretty much endless recreations and or mixtures of those styles for the last 23 years. We've been stuck in a multi-decade period of Pop music stagnation.

BTW, did you see Purple Kiss 'Sweet Juice' MV Teaser and 'Cabin Fever' Highlight Medley? I don't know if I like any songs yet but there's a lot of good vocal stuff going on. ♥Swan of course, my favorite voice in k-pop. Swan, Na Go-eun and Chaein together in particular worked really well together in previous stuff. I'll be checking out the new stuff for sure.
The clothing is definitely one of the things that made me think of Aaliyah and TLC. While saying it reminded me of them, it being more upbeat was causing me to reconsider lol. I actually had to go listen to some of their songs today, since it's been too long, and this song reminded me of them lol.
I definitely agree with what you say about pop music. Speaking specifically about the US, it's one reason I started branching out to other countries and eventually landed on K-pop. While I can definitely see the same thing has been happening to K-pop, it's different enough to me that I've been able to enjoy it regardless lol.
I have seen the teaser, but haven't listened to the Highlight Medley yet (I try to avoid those). I do plan to check out the MV tomorrow, though. It definitely looks like it's gonna be interesting from everything I've seen. I still don't really know the members, but what you've said has me even more excited to check it out.
