Tropical Storm Beryl Update 7/5/24 10PM

  • Tropical Storm Beryl is now moving towards the Texas Gulf Coast and is expected to become a hurricane before landfall near or just north of Corpus Christi on Monday. Moisture from Beryl will move into Louisiana early next week with heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding.

    Where do they measure the wind speeds? How high up and distance from eye? One source I looked at said 10 m high but did not state where in the storm its measured.

      @@bradbauman7594 it is extrapolated from the winds at flight level. Also, the plane decends into the eye near the surface and measures the pressure. Wind speed can be estimated by the surface pressure as they are correlated to each other based on physical laws such as Boyles law.

      @@SamLaneNationalStormChannel Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked was I was looking at the ventusky website and the wind speeds were not agreeing with what the news was saying even at multiple heights.

    It will hit west of Corpus and not turn as hard east more to the NW

      That's a possibility but the track models have all been trending more northeastward with each run.

      Well I told folks 2 days before it came a Cat 5 that it was going to be a cat 5. The weather people didn't think it would get past a cat 3. But it did besides I live out in the south west and we need rain to fill up our creaks gully's dryguktches rivers and lakes.
