  • A Class of ’39 Aggie killed in the Korean War is coming home. In 2018, for the first time since 2005, North Korea sent caskets of remains to the U.S., and three weeks ago the family of U.S. Army Maj. Harvey Storms ’39 learned he had been positively identified.
Nineteen of those family members visited Texas A&M today and received gifts honoring Storms from leaders of The Association of Former Students and the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
A hero of the 1950 battle of the Chosin Reservoir, Storms left a wife and four sons (one born two months after he was lost in battle). Among family in attendance today were two Aggie grandsons, Jim Storms ’94 and Michael Storms ’98.
“You honor us by coming to Aggieland and letting us share in a little bit of his legacy,” said Association of Former Students President and CEO Porter S. Garner III '79 as he presented Storms’ sons with coins symbolizing A&M’s core values. Corps commandant Brig. Gen. Joe Ramirez ‘79 presented them with Corps of Cadets commemorative coins. The Association also gave them flags that had been flown over the Williams Alumni Center in Storms’ honor, and after learning that Storms’ A&M yearbooks had been lost in a fire, assembled a matching set and presented those, one to each brother.
