    I find that the best way to cook lobsters is to buy some fresh lobsters, then invite some friends who love to cook, then sit back drink some wine, and before you know it the lobsters are done.

    I agree I always put my lobsters in the freezer for approximately 45 minutes and it numbs some so hopefully they don’t feel any pain when you cook them. We have to treat all creatures with respect.❤

    Back in the 70s, most would put the lobsters in a bucket of wine or beer first and get them drunk before cooking. The meat was more tender that way.

      I’m only watching this to get answers on why they would need to be kept alive to boil. I can imagine this is utter torture for the creatures

    I live in Louisiana . I went on vacation to Maine a few years ago. I hurt myself. I ate 3 3 pounders on the 1st day. I love lobster. It's definitely a lot more meat than these crawfish we eat. ❤

    This is the fifth video I've watched in about 20 minutes and everyone has given different cooking times per pound of lobster. I guess you have to learn cooking time through trial and error.

    Generally, only hard-shell lobsters are shipped in the mail.
    Please note there are softshell ones, lobsters in the process of molting/shedding and take less time to cook.

      You shouldn't, yeah. Research shows it just makes them suffer for longer; they warm up, 'wake up', and then it takes them even longer to die because the boiling point is higher. It's not pleasant. Always kill lobsters first if you care at all about being humane.

    Does the cooking time start from when the water begins to boil again or from the time you put them in the pot? That could take a minute and half more. Why is nobody ever clear about that?

    It's a myth that freezing helps - it actually prolongs their suffering/pain. There's research that shows this.

      @Wall of Zion Ideally, kill it first. Quickly dispatch it with a knife - you can find videos showing you how. It doesn't impact flavour which some people claim. If for some reason you can't/won't, then yeah - head first is more humane than freezing.

    LMAO, why is it people saying putting lobster in the freezer puts them to sleep, errrr WRONG. In fact they die slower from cold then being boiled.

      The lobsters are not dying, they are fine. They are not asleep, chilling them just makes them easier to handle because it slows down their metabolism and numbs it. I would like to point out that this woman did not prepare the lobsters the humane way. To humanely prepare a lobster you chill it, then quickly kill it with a knife through the head. Then you can put it into the pot and boil it without it living it's last minutes suffering.

Dude I was a commercial lobstermen for many years in my younger days, and can tell you first hand how quick a lobster will die in cold air,, such as winter fishing with them on the deck in crates. We've had to move em up under the windshield of the boat and cover them with tarps to keep them warm.. So I don't think there is much you can "point" out to me about lobsters.. I've prob caught, cooked and ate more in one day then you have in your life.. So next time you have a live lobster,, put it in the freezer for 60 min, take it out and see if it's not dead,LoL LoL.     Chef Ramsey put the lid on his lobster pot and he cooked it for 6 to 7 minutes. But he probably did it wrong. I'll send a link to your video so he knows the right way.

      Reflexes. It's the same if you slice a lobster through the head with a knife killing it instantly. The rest of the body will still twitch and move for up to an hour.

    For those saying freezing has an impact on their pain, there is no proof lobsters feel pain. Sharks don't feel pain either. But yeah, unless you are scared of the lobster which is fair enough, you don't have to freeze it.

      Agreed. But far FAR less excruciating than being boiled alive which is what is currently happening the world over.
      If I were a lobster and forced to choose, I'd take freezing over boiling to death ANY DAY of the week.
