I find that the best way to cook lobsters is to buy some fresh lobsters, then invite some friends who love to cook, then sit back drink some wine, and before you know it the lobsters are done.
the best!!
And then your buddies eat all your fresh lobster that they cooked🤣
@@bradtheman19 Well if they do that then they ain't my buddies so if they are not my buddies then they will not be invited. I don't know who you hang out with but my buddies will never do that.
@@MusicforMe123 You took it to the heart lol. It was a joke
@@bradtheman19 If you celebrate it... Happy Thanksgiving.
I agree I always put my lobsters in the freezer for approximately 45 minutes and it numbs some so hopefully they don’t feel any pain when you cook them. We have to treat all creatures with respect.❤
Back in the 70s, most would put the lobsters in a bucket of wine or beer first and get them drunk before cooking. The meat was more tender that way.
I notice some of the comment saying murder, but If people don’t like watching lobsters getting boiled, then why are you watching it in the first place?
I’m only watching this to get answers on why they would need to be kept alive to boil. I can imagine this is utter torture for the creatures
I live in Louisiana . I went on vacation to Maine a few years ago. I hurt myself. I ate 3 3 pounders on the 1st day. I love lobster. It's definitely a lot more meat than these crawfish we eat. ❤
This is the fifth video I've watched in about 20 minutes and everyone has given different cooking times per pound of lobster. I guess you have to learn cooking time through trial and error.
Ughhh they're too expensive to learn through trial and error 😭
@@graconcracuse a temp probe, better to undercook as you can always put them back in
Keep that sweet smile . 😊 I'm cooking mine now. Thanks
Is the time based on bringing the water back to a boil or just when you place them in the pot?
Livin' Like Larry
Generally, only hard-shell lobsters are shipped in the mail.
Please note there are softshell ones, lobsters in the process of molting/shedding and take less time to cook.
cannot wait to order!!!!
Vă mulțumim pentru rețetă.
Yeah, I won’t be putting mine in the freezer, I’ve never heard of that- but everything else was great instructions. Thanks!
You shouldn't, yeah. Research shows it just makes them suffer for longer; they warm up, 'wake up', and then it takes them even longer to die because the boiling point is higher. It's not pleasant. Always kill lobsters first if you care at all about being humane.
And I don’t care so I’ll just toss em in
@@Communist-Doge Research hasn't proven they can suffer, we still don't know.
@@MichaelDavis-mk4me if you don't know then you shouldn't do it, or kill them the second before you put them in
Freeze them so they dont Poop and pee when in that boiling hot pot
No mention of whether water is at a simmer or boiling while cooking??
Does the cooking time start from when the water begins to boil again or from the time you put them in the pot? That could take a minute and half more. Why is nobody ever clear about that?
It starts from the moment the water begins to boil..
Are you cooking water or lobster 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤪😂😂🤪🤪
What’s the difference between boiling and steamed?
COOL!!!
Hi, I need help! I have 17 people to make lobster for and a 100 qt pot. How many 1 1/4 lb. to 1 1/2 lb. lobsters should I put in the pot at a time??
should poke the end of the lobster where there is a hole to get rid of the pee and smell
OK, I'm a vegan now.
How long should you cool them for?
You don't have too
Someone I absolutely adore.... is sending me three live ass lobsters in the mail 😂 I don’t have a single clue what is going on but I think I might be in love.
It's a myth that freezing helps - it actually prolongs their suffering/pain. There's research that shows this.
Cool!
@Wall of Zion Ideally, kill it first. Quickly dispatch it with a knife - you can find videos showing you how. It doesn't impact flavour which some people claim. If for some reason you can't/won't, then yeah - head first is more humane than freezing.
Could you post a link to the study? Thanks.
I can’t believe people care about flavor more than suffering a animal for a long time to death. Such evil humans.

Any recommendation on how big/brand of pot for boiling (4) 1.5 lb lobsters? Thanks! Getting ready to make an order from you guys now!
8 gallons. thank you
One at a time
Nice
LMAO, why is it people saying putting lobster in the freezer puts them to sleep, errrr WRONG. In fact they die slower from cold then being boiled.
Yeah putting them to sleep freezing to death
The lobsters are not dying, they are fine. They are not asleep, chilling them just makes them easier to handle because it slows down their metabolism and numbs it. I would like to point out that this woman did not prepare the lobsters the humane way. To humanely prepare a lobster you chill it, then quickly kill it with a knife through the head. Then you can put it into the pot and boil it without it living it's last minutes suffering.
@@user-er5mz4qi7e Fridge yes, freezer NO. Dude I was a commercial lobstermen for many years in my younger days, and can tell you first hand how quick a lobster will die in cold air,, such as winter fishing with them on the deck in crates. We've had to move em up under the windshield of the boat and cover them with tarps to keep them warm.. So I don't think there is much you can "point" out to me about lobsters.. I've prob caught, cooked and ate more in one day then you have in your life.. So next time you have a live lobster,, put it in the freezer for 60 min, take it out and see if it's not dead,LoL LoL. Have a great day Skippy,, bahaha.
@@52Rambler obviously ya don’t freeze the goddamn thing for an hour
@@user-er5mz4qi7e LMAO, and the goddamn vid said what, "freezer 30 to 60 min". The fkn point I was trying to make Einstein. AGAIN, fridge not freezer!! So tell me, where did you acquire your vast knowledge about lobster, let me guess, you had to go to lame ass vids like this or use Google to find out!! LoL, keyboard Cupcake detected..
So if a 1.5-lbs lobster requires 11-12 minutes of cooking, how long would it take if I cooked two of them together?
The same
What about when you cook three 1.5 pound lobsters at the same time?
Yes!
Only thing I do is remove the bands , then throw them in the pot
Chef Ramsey put the lid on his lobster pot and he cooked it for 6 to 7 minutes. But he probably did it wrong. I'll send a link to your video so he knows the right way.
So boiling for 25min?
You know I read an essay about this
It's this how they put animals to sleep at the pound? 😳
Guess there is no de-veining here😂
Humane.... put em in freezer for an hour so they die in the cold... sounds wonderfully humane.
The cooked lobster to the left was still moving😐
Reflexes. It's the same if you slice a lobster through the head with a knife killing it instantly. The rest of the body will still twitch and move for up to an hour.
Does she know Sam Seder ?
Gordon Ramsay only cooks lobsters for 2 minutes? Is this because hardshell lobsters are different than other lobsters?
Just wear a glove
But you’re boiling it
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You are supposed to bring water to boil with lobsters inside they wont know the temperature difference this way. WHY IS EVERYONE DOING THIS WRONG YOU ARE TORMENTING THE LOBSTER.
smile when they are cooked alive. super !!! tell it to your children.
The lobsters love it
Lol u freeze them wtf
This better that you put them to sleep
3lb lobster what the hell i look like a Kardashian?

"Some people like to put their lobsters directly into the pot of boiling water but I like to snip the bands ahead of time and putting them to sleep is a much safer way of doing so." That and boiling lobsters alive is inhumane and illegal...
“Illegal”
Bruh where you live
No it isn't Maine cooks thousands of pounds a lobster a day by boiling it alive. Don't lose sleep over it pussy
It's illegal where lol?
Illegal? What in Gods name are you talking about?
Illegal? not in America buddy 😂😂😂
For those saying freezing has an impact on their pain, there is no proof lobsters feel pain. Sharks don't feel pain either. But yeah, unless you are scared of the lobster which is fair enough, you don't have to freeze it.
When in doubt, you assume they do feel pain. You ere on the side of not being an evil monster.
@@winteralfs Sorry, I don't believe in unproven things to make myself feel morally superior. You may as well stop eating plants too since they can detect damage, but do not possess neural system necessary to feel pain, just like lobsters. Think of all those baby carrots you murdered.
@@MichaelDavis-mk4me it is unproven that they do not feel pain as well. Stop trying to make yourself feel morally superior and piss off
@@obi-wankenobi8446 You cannot prove non-existence, it is a fallacy, an argument from ignorance. In other words, it worthless to assume something based on the fact you cannot prove it's not false, otherwise, you would believe me when I say : "I am God, now give me all your money for salvation. You cannot prove that I am not God, so it means that I must be God". No it's not, child. Lobsters are just food.
The humane way? You ate them girl!!!!

Murder
I just got my lobsters today and your instructions say 14 minutes for 3lbs.
How is freezing a live creature humane? That’s a horrible way to die
Agreed. But far FAR less excruciating than being boiled alive which is what is currently happening the world over.
If I were a lobster and forced to choose, I'd take freezing over boiling to death ANY DAY of the week.
