- Today I'm going to show you step by step how to make junk journal jewelry. You only need a few ordinary buttons - they can also be a bit ugly, because we're going to decoupage them - a few beads, charms and tiny stuff, old jewelry that you don't wear anymore or that has been fallen apart will work wonderfully!
A few tools, such as jewelry pliers, are helpful, as is patience... but then you're ready to go!

It tickles me to hear and see the paint splat intro you have in the beginning of your videos Luise!!!! Can't explain it. Anyone else feel the happiness that's about to unfold in the next few minutes. Love it😊
I have millions of buttons and love this idea for the really simple ones. Thanks!
When you said, "You know me... we'll make this more special." Yes, indeed dear Luise, you make ***everything*** more special 👏🤗. You warm my heart and inspire my spirit well beyond your beautiful art 🦋💐🦋. So much encouragement, excitement and companionship feeling. These buttons are fantastic and so many imaginative variations. Love them all but I think I like the "short, dingely, dangely thingy" with the cute little owl the best.🦉 More happiness in store as I am off to watch the German video. Thank you so much and stay safe, happy and healthy!!!!
I agree !
Your “napkin buttons” are just awesome. What a wonderful idea. Now to find the perfect buttons. 👍🥰❤️
I missed this video when it came out and it is another great one of yours. Thank you
I can't wait to "pretty up" my ugly buttons. Thanks for the great ideas!
Absolutely love the napkin buttons. I think I could squeeze some buttons and beads on my art table and make some of these. They are just so awesome!
Realy again a gorgeous idea, you are always so genius to create “ new” thingies with old items.
Love the symbolic use off that flower on your grand parents buttons.
Have a nice weekend!,
Greetings Maia
Wow!! Napkins to decorate buttons!! Amazing! So so stunning!!
I bet I have a total of maybe a dozen buttons. That’s it. I could make some buttons I guess. Love the napkin idea. Playing around making “things” is a lot of fun.
The napkin buttons are great! But attaching the jewelry ideas to the buttons are what intrigued me
Love these button dingly dangle thingies❣️we could call them Heinzls. Yes, I like that 🥰
They look very pretty!! Enjoyed learning the way to cover ugly buttons!
Oh my. I absolutely 💯 love those. Keep doing a great job. I enjoy watching you create and how you link art and junk journaling. Love from the Caribbean 🤩
These buttons ate beautiful. I am going to try this. It will make my journals more beautiful.
These buttons turned out GREAT!!!! Yes, I will definitely be looking at the German video to see what you do with the other buttons. You are so creative!!!!!!
The pulb pins add a nice touch!💝🎉
Love these. Great buttons and charms for journals. Can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing
I have not been able to watch you for a few months. Your English is so much better! I just inherited my Mother's button collection and I'm going to my craft room now to start on this project you inspired. This is my kind of art!
Absolutely love these button charms. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
My heart is percolating with excitement! I love buttons and just last week I made a bunch of your paper buttons from book pages. They turned out so well. Now a way to beautify the plainer buttons from stash using some of my napkin collection. Thank you darling Liuse.
Hello Luise, just loved watching you create your junk journal jewelry. They came out beautiful, thanks for sharing.
You are a true blessing! Thank you. Carol from Georgia USA ♥️
So simple and unique. Why haven't I thought of this before. Thank you for the great ideas. ❤️
Luise, your mind is a wonderland! So full of Amazing ideas!
Very lovely. I always watch your German videos as well. I had German in school many moons ago and my aunt was married to a German gentleman. I am not that confident in speaking it anymore, but I still read German and love watching you in German.
Hi Louise, thank you so much for another brilliant tutorial, I love your buttons and would never have thought of doing that technique. That is what sets you apart from others on here - you always think 'outside the box' as the saying goes. You are a true inspiration with all your projects and tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Take care and bye for now as we say here in the UK! xx
Wonderful ideas. I have my grandmother's and my in-laws button collection. What a way to remember them. The napkin is so neat. I can use some with my ancestry journal that We're doing. Thanks so much for showing us how to make some. 👍🤗🤗
Love these button dangles. I have buttons from my mother as well. I think I am going to try this. Thanks
I also have a large collection of buttons from my grandmothers. I have many buttons like yours that are a bit ugly. What a great tutorial to change them into a small work of art. I have a lot of buttons with a shank and think they would be great used in this way.
I like what you did with your buttons. You made some nice art pices
Brilliant ideas, my favourite is the owl.
I never would have thought of doing that with the bottons. They look very nice, excellent. I did see you use buttons on a few tags or pages in other videos. So jealous hit me, i bought a few buttons and beads. A couple fish , like Nemo fish, and pretty ball peachy sequins. One day, i will use them. Right now they are all safety pinned to journal fabric inside cover. Lol so much fun.lol take care be safe.
Beautiful outcome of decoupage buttons!🥰💕💕
I love this, more videos similar to this. Very creative and beautiful. Inspiring. 👏👏👏
These are awesome. And I loved watching your process of making them. Thanks for sharing
Can't wait to try these buttons. Wonderful idea. I use fishing swivels instead of bulb pins on some of my dangles.
Man Du machst mich fertig!! Now I have to go and try making these buttons as well as the others you made.
They are absolutely gorgeous and sooo cute 🤩🤩🤩
I love this!!!! I have a lot of ugly buttons too! These are beautiful! I’m going to watch the German video now.
Love this idea, I have so many buttons but not always the colors I need for the project. Thank you for sharing.
Luise, I love the idea of putting napkins on the buttons. I know a lot of times, you are searching for a color/type of button, and cannot find it. By decoupaging them with the napkins, you can have them match what you needed them for.
Such a fun idea! Love how different they all are. My fingers are itching to try some! ❤️
Can't wait to make some of these! I make jewelry, therefore I have more supplies than I'll ever need.😊 Thanks so much Luise for the idea.❤
Antique Mod Podge?? Oh nnooo!! Sounds dangerous! Love your buttons! "...should we add something else"? Luise, of course!! We should ALWAYS add something else!! Hugs sweetie, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
I know it has been a while but I just found you and I like it greatly. I have stuff to make some.. thank you.!
O Louise, they are so special. As for the buttons wow! I have buttons that are plain and a few napkins that might work so yes I will try and transform my plain buttons. Love your inspirations.
I love this, what a great way to honor my grandmothers buttons. I have been using them in journals here and there, but this is a great way to jazz up some of the plain ones. Thanks Luise. ❤️
LOUISE, i love the four journal jewels. My favorite art craft is decoupage, so should be no surprise that my favorite thing in this is your decoupaging tidbits of napkins onto buttons, transforming boring grey to tiny works of beautiful art treasure.
I never would have thought of this! Your decorated buttons are fabulous. I can't wait to try to make some.
You are so creative, and you do inspire me, thank you Louisa
WOW love these buttons! Fabulous idea (as always)! Thank you very much. Off to make my own,
Well Done Luise! Love these ideas! Thanks for sharing, Sherry
What a wonderful idea! Now I know what to do with all the ugly buttons I inherited! At first I thought you had some amazing buttons and mine were all unattractive…especially like the effect the blue and white napkin gives.
wonderful ideas! i love how you problem solve and create on the fly...that is just how i like to do things too :)
What a great idea! I can’t wait to give this a try. I just need more napkins. So time to collect some pretty napkins and get busy. Thanks for sharing Louise. Beautiful as always. ❤️
To paint things like the buttons, put a piece of painter's tape or masking tape down, fold the ends under so the sticky side is up. Put the objects to be painted on the tape, paint. When dry, just peel them off.
Love the idea of using napkins on the buttons!
That's genius! Thank you!
What fun, I must give this a try. I have collected a stash of buttons, I wish you lived closer to share. Thank you for showing us the mod lodge idea of covering plain buttons. I must give this a try. Hugs.
I love, love, love your napkin buttons!! Such a fabulous idea! You are so inspiring and cause such excitement - my heart is laughing! Can't wait to try this - thanks so much for all the love you give to us, your faithful subbie, Diane from Tampa, Florida ;)
Absolutely beautiful buttons!!!
Luise you’re amazing! I love what you’ve done here and I’m already digging through my button stash! Thanks again for your wonderfully creative soul! 💕
Such good idea I’ve got so many buttons that are red and now I can change them all thanks for your fabulous 💡 can’t wait do something with them 😝
Cute ideas. Oh I just love your button collection quite a treasure
So fun and clever! I will try it! Thank you, Luise!
Just found your videos tonight and I am now a subscriber... love these napkin buttons and find your teaching very easy to understand and fun. Loved the previous video I accidentally found you did with your hubby..encouraged me as a newbie to this junk journal world. Thank you.
Yeah! Thanks a lot! Welcome to my channel!
These are wonderful!! I just sorted hundreds of buttons and am looking forward to trying this!!
The buttons are beautiful. Try using I pins used in jewelry making to attack the red bead. They come with stop or hoop on the bottom and you put the bead on it. Shorten if needed and make a hoop on the end and then all you have to do is attach it to the chain.
Uh oh. I gave away all my large (ugly) buttons because I had no use for them. I could have made these. Very interesting art work, Luise. TYFS.
Das Video ist mir tatsächlich entgangen 😳
So eine tolle Idee 💡
Gefällt mir echt super gut 👍 Vielen lieben Dank fürs zeigen LG und Drückerle Dany 🥰❤️👍
