- Last year while we were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I got a haircut and hair styling finished with a relaxing citrus-scented hot towel at Sweeney Ted. Ted Lee made a career switch in his thirties to open his barbershop almost 3 years ago.
After working for years in the corporate world, Ted found himself at a crossroads in his career. He had to make a decision to either continue working in the corporate field where he was unhappy or pursue something he was truly passionate about.
In his spare time, Ted had been cutting hair as a hobby. He found himself happiest when he made people look and feel good. Ted says he loves the process, finds it therapeutic, and loves the interaction with customers from all walks of life. He also really enjoys working with his hands which is something he didn’t realize until later on in life.
Ted spends an hour with his customers for a haircut. After the consultation, he provides a detailed haircut finished with a hot towel, and then gives tips on styling your hair.
Ted's barbershop has a clean minimalist look. Since there is so much going on in the world, Ted says he wants a space that feels calm, quiet, and clutter free. Ted wants his customers to come in for a haircut or hot towel shave and relax their worries away!

Not really, he just took 18x longer to do a fade than the usual barber.
This took an hour, because the barber wanted to cut and style for so long until Harry would smile satisfied.
Such a methodical, sterile, and organized barber...kudos to Mr Lee. I like the minimalist simplicity of the shop too.
@Bruteme This barbershop is in a mall. However you are somewhat correct in that many mall spaces are not designed to be for one type of shop in particular. It's uncommon (to my knowledge) for a traditional barber to work out of a mall, but I think this guy is solo and he seems to make the space work.
I thought the same thing - he seems very precise and artful is his actions. Loved watching a craftsman

Wow, according to his website this dude gives this level of perfection tailored to each client and an hour's worth of relaxation for less than US $20. I feel like he's really undercharging here, but damn do I wish I lived in Malaysia.

Longtime fan of the channel & I've just seen your channel pop up on Top 5's channel regarding a ghost encounter in this video at 59:58 - the woman in red walking, almost gliding backwards? And doesn't appear in the next panel? Anyone else notice that?
Walking backwards is one thing, could be explained, but she's gliding, going a bit slowly, then disappears? Can it be chalked up to a video anomaly? But how could it be if everything else in the video frame is unchanging? Above my pay grade...
Just once I would like a haircut by someone as talented as this gentleman. So, I let my wife watch this video and all I got was "I can cut your hair like that", so thirty minutes later I have a buzz cut and I'm cleaning the dog clippers. Life is so unfair :)

Sweeny Ted is one of the few that took Harry's permission to "Do whatever.", and ran with it.
He followed Harry's natural hair line, but still did something creative and unique.
Hey Cavscout! Yes! My preference is to usually go with the natural growth of the hair. Harry has a cowlick of sorts at the front so I just went with that so that even when his hair is not styled it'll fall nicely. ☺

Back in the 80's my dad would go to the barber and they would cut your hair for 45 minutes. Now -a -Days your in the chair 8 minutes and they get you out. We need more people like Mr. Lee !

Hey Aret! Some haircuts take longer than others. I usually tread more carefully when cutting someone's hair for the first time. Harry's head is a little bumpy on the sides of the occipital bone so fading that area was a little tricky. This is also the reason I decided on giving Harry a taper fade. ☺

Here it is, a miracle has happened, one of the few competent masters of his craft. And I started the haircut with the right zone, and distributed the hair into zones. Well, thank God there are normal masters, you can't look at the rest without tears.

My father was a barber back in 1920's so cutting hair was incorporated into my DNA. After watching some of the shaves and cuts from barbers I can say that we can learn a lot from different cultures and how they take their job to the next level.
This barber is loving what he does. Every section must be perfect. He takes his time and looks like he is more satisfied than the client. Great haircut and video. No need for commentary throughout.
