  • Prime Minister Rishi Sunak takes questions in parliament.
Sunak has vowed to prove to voters that he is improving their living standards as the Tories and Labour battle to frame a crucial week for the economy.
The prime minister insisted that the next general election was not a foregone conclusion and “the situation is closer than many people are saying”, as he sought to move on from heavy losses in the local elections and a failed attempt to remove him.

Proud yankee here. I *love* the idea of Prime Minister questions. Sure, a lot of them are just advertising from the PM’s party, but a designated time for the executive to answer questions from the opposition seems like a good idea to me.

There are pluses and minuses to each system. A Prime Minister cannot hide behind a press secretary like a President can. OTOH, they can have a no confidence vote for pretty much any reason to remove a PM even if it is over something petty and irrelevant which can't happen nearly so easily in the US system since the President heads up his own branch of government.

@@JeffreyPullen-lp4oe We have the equivalent of the Labor party ie the Democrats in power over here right now, and gasoline is twice what it was under the prior administration. Anyone voting Democrat at this point is a fool.

I've seen close PMQs, I've seen PMQs with a clear winner and I've seen PMQs that a completely one sided.
But, I don't think I've seen a PMQs where the Prime Minister has so totally, ruthlessly and eloquently humiliated as what happened to Sunak here.
Starmer looks like PM in waiting.
    Sunak looks like an idiot.

Why is all the laws been changed in England? That is all knowing but all the criminals know like in Leicester right? If you shop left under £10 you do not get arrested. You do not get told off you’re actually if you caught they just let you go and that is a flat, that two shoplifters dropped to sell me something. Be laughing when the catch up and they told me they don’t get prosecuted anymore no wonders so I asked around the kids in the school we’re going shoplifting on a regular basis now just please don’t do anymore, cause parking on the path all over the path one wheel two wheel free wheels are the wheel that you can park you want in Leicester on path I’ve got millions of photos of them And no one does nothing about it. Coucil took it off the police no wonder the police of breaking down teaching kids to teaching kids. It’s okay you can’t wherever you want. You can keep that walk on the road. Mother walk onto the road people walk onto the road and that’s a fact that’s two. I wonder how many more laws of being around England just the ideology of people with what, America’s got the best policy zero tolerance and I think we should polish oh no you’re too busy fighting over stupid election we both don’t give a monkeys about Britain taking pure Mickey in front of the government in front of everybody and you then carry on nothing happening I would never ever want to fight ever again and I hope myfriends
