They were werenât really exposed they werenât good at allowing that season lost super Copa, La Liga. This was they really were missing a proper ST who had a better finishing like Mbappe if that were the case Madrid would have slapped City in the first leg 2 weeks ago cuz the chances were much better than City. PSG and Borussia Dortmund are playing each other in the Champions League semifinals and both of them had to overcome challenges in the quarterfinals and in this UCL season as to well to get to where they are now. It looked as if it would be another year without champions league title for PSG since in the group stage they were close to going to the Europa League and while they narrowly went through, in the quarterfinals they lost the first leg to Barcelona and in the 2nd leg they had a 2 goals deficit on aggregate and looked as if they would be eliminated from the Champions League again. Everyone will say that they got lucky because of the red card which is true, but PSG came back from 2 goals down to win the tie 6-4 on aggregate. Even though they played with a man down in an important champions league game when youâre down a couple of goals you have to take advantage and thatâs what they managed to do and unfortunately Barcelona didnât have any solutions to cope with a red card. This reminds me of PSGâs run to the champions league final in 2020 when during COVID they had an easy run of games where they didnât play an elite team until the final. We all see them as favorites to get by Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals, but given the way in which they knocked out Atletico Madrid, you canât write off Dortmund and theyâve been playing excellent football of late too.
Borussia Dortmund themselves has had to cope with their own challenges. Many of us wondered how they managed to top the group of death as everyone thought that they would finish bottom of the group and they went through and after the first leg, I saw Atletico Madrid going through to the semifinals, yet after a back and forth game at home where they led trailed then led again, Dortmund went though to the semifinals. Theyâve had a dream run so far and everyone wrote them off as they expected them to finish bottom of the group and because they havenât been in the best form in the Bundesliga, what weâve seen from Borussia Dortmund this season itâs been noticeable in the last couple of years the same thing with Bayern Munich too this season which is that the competitive nature of the champions league and knockout format means that your league form doesnât matter in Europe. Do you know how many times Manchester City have struggled in the champions league apart from last season especially after dominating the premier league every year, weâve seen teams like Real Madrid and Chelsea win the champions league on multiple occasions in seasons where theyâve struggled in the league, Inter Milan have had a good season in Serie A but theyâre out of the champions league a year after they got to the final where they were poor domestically. Just like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund have struggled in the Bundesliga this season and that didnât stop them from getting to the Champions League semifinals and thereâs a reason why winning trophies is difficult and it deserves more appreciation because in knockout football you have to peak at the right time whereas in the league you have to be consistent against certain opponents and itâs all about longevity too.

The real champions league semifinals was supposed to be: Manchester City vs Arsenal and Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid and anyone who predicted this went 0-4 and should watch football more before they make predictions. What we got in reality was Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich and PSG vs Borussia Dortmund and each of these teams in the quarterfinals had their respective challenges that they had to overcome in order to go through to the semifinals and itâs about to be interesting.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid had always been a serial bottlers. Barcelona were robbed after Araujo's red card. City should have won 4-1 on the 2nd leg if KDB and the other players did a good finishing when it comes to scoring goals.

Even though PSG vs Real Madrid (Kylian Mbappe) and BVB vs Bayern Munich (Wembley 2013) are the two most common finals this year, PSG vs Bayern Munich and BVB vs Real Madrid might be crazy. PSG vs Bayern Munich is a repeat of the 2020 Final, while BVB vs Real Madrid is all about Jude Bellingham.
Real Madrid is too difficult to lose because they had 100% record of winning the UCL after playing in the Final. The last time they lost the UCL Final was during the European Cup era, when they lost 0-1 to Liverpool in 1981.

Even Bayern Munich, who were in the last season with Robert Lewandowski, were still on its peak than Madrid at that time (they won the 19/20 season with always win record). They should have been one of the finalist in Paris, but sadly, Villarreal were really deserved.
