Semi-agree with the forced rhymes but I'm more concerned about the amount of fillers he got in this one. EACH bar got to hit hard if you striking at someone like J Cole, can't have no "My bad, I'm babbling, back to the topic" bullshit.
His presence on the track cool and the switch up in flows sounds good but nothing ground breaking when trying to compare yourself to the greats. He's definitely up there but side to side with someone like Cole that was nothing but punchlines, wordplay and multis before he went off and became known/commercial he's still in high school and haven't graduated yet. Plenty of room to grow to reach that spot if he wants to reach it but there needs WAY more work than what he's showing here.
Overall this is impressive and it's a dope fucking track, but in terms of what he's trying to do and show off it got to come way harder and poignant, which in turn makes this one lackluster.

It’s not only how J Cole says things, it’s what J Cole has to say. Substance.
Yeah, people forget that rapping is more than just...you know...rapping. Having tight rhymes and flow and cleverness is great and always welcome, but it isn't shit without substance. I feel like a lot of this lane thinks they have substance just because they don't go the "money bitches drugs guns" route, which if that's not your life by all means don't do that but offer us some interesting perspective on your own.
At the same time I'll withhold a judgment on this guy until I heard a couple more songs. But I wasn't losing my jaw.

He can't sing which would help alot, but if token would collab with some singing rappers, it would really showcase what he can do compared most every rapper. Thats not to say he's any more clever the Eminem or lil dicky, but he's got it. With how consistent he's been, I can see him rapping with the greats someday and then becoming a great. If he keeps doing it solo, he won't get any further. I hope his next songs have more substance too cause your right about that. Some of his songs have substance but he can't sing at all so that doesn't help.

There ain't really anything wrong with his commentary not always being the most meaningful, life isn't some whirlwind where you are always experiencing view-changing events and stuff. Most of the time its the opposite, you won't have anything to say.
