- In this video a very solid crew bikepacks modified versions of the Texada Ridge Runner Route on Texada Island and the 10 Lakes Overnighter routes from @BIKEPACKINGcom . During the trip we encounter some fairly interesting weather, including some spring snow melt, a wicked hail storm, some near freezing temperatures and a massive rain storm.

it amazes me you find all these trailes
a truly beautiful friendship
Lovely comment. They are great friends!
love seeing the snow on the side of the trail, nice aesthetic change and you know you are going across little mini biomes.
Yeah makes use look more hardcore than we actually are. I was just glad there wasn't any fresh snow.
Love your video's... as I'm from Duncan most of these trails are just a stones throw away... Just got a Trek Checkpoint and plan on doing lots of bikepacking in the near future...
Keep the video's coming
Thanks William. I appreciate the kind words. I also have a checkpoint and it’s a pretty solid bike.
Cool!
🤙🙏
I saw that slow-mo chili shot, stay in your lane buddy!
Dehydrated vegan chilli that I made for the whole crew :)
omg Nate is great.
"it's troubling"
"I don't know what of it" great improve.
You guys are inspiring. That looks like a ton of fun.
Thanks Tom, it was a lot of fun. Ride safe!
Thanks for sharing, Love the idea of bikepacking
Me too, it's all I think about sometimes :)
Wow, that looks like a great trip! Thanks!
It was a great crew for sure! Ride safe.
Great trip Sir, love the morning humour at camp. Some great shots by the lake with the sun peeping through the trees. ATB mate
Cheers, thanks Jamie. Hope you are well. I'm happy with the way all the videography worked out this time. Best.
love a well-timed late ferry.
Yeah we almost missed the noon ferry. The next one at 5pm was actually cancelled because of high winds so we lucked out.
View from Bob's lake looked rad.
It was 0c when we were up there. There are lots of good campsites, but better suited for summer.
Some real killer views. Looks like an awesome time-great video!
Yes, certainly some great views and the roads were generally in good shape as well. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful woods and the roads looked pretty good too. Looks like you guys had a blast! Thanks for video.
Thanks for tuning in. It was an excellent trip, I would highly recommend. Take Care!
cherry blossom kit is super cute.
It's a Thrillmu from Thrillhouse cycling (Simpson's based cycling meems). They are out of Vancouver!
Looks like an epic tour. Except for the hail and hills. I am tempted to try Texada tough. Thanks.
Thanks Barry. It is a cool place to ride. You could do texada reasonably in a day if you skipped Anderson bay. I’ll catch in a few weeks in cowichan river.
Some fantastic camping spots mate.
Nothing like camping near the ocean in the off season when there is no one around 💪
Just bought a new trail bike and I can't wait to get out theeeeeeere
Yeah get it! Enjoy the new bike
@@SirBikesAlot got a LANDYACHT AB-1, so many mounting points!
@@Cognitive.Dissident Nice. I've been dreaming up a TI hardtail from them, but just don't really have the money for a new bike....
I like seeing your trip computer on those descents, cool to see the speed in the footage. pretty sure I saw almost a 50kmh, nice!
Yeah me too, I forgot to bring my go pro chest mount so I just put it in my mount. Seemed to work just fine.
Looks like a good ride except the rain :) but that's the norm out on the coast I guess
It certainly is the norm, especially this time of year!
Looks like a great trip! Who makes that cool, retro looking pink/yellow mountain bike your buddy rides?
It was a great trip, thanks for watching. That bike was made by WZRD, who is a local bike manufacturer who makes custom bikes and other bike parts here in Victoria, BC. Below is the link to their website. That was my buddy's inaugural ride on that bike and it handled pretty well. The design was inspired by the old 80s klunkers of early MTB.

Great video, first of yours I’ve watched and I’ll check out others. I just started overnighting bikepacking and used my phone to video solo. I used a free Microsoft editor and it’s music. I like your video quality and music … mind if I ask what action camera you’re using and editor? I noticed the music is CZcams library so I’m wondering if you also use a CZcams editor? (Can you tell I’m brand new to this?!!)
Hey Sir Bikes Alot,
Great video as always!
What would you say is the minimum advisable tire width for bikepacking that type of terrain? My gravel bike has 36s that I use around town; guessing that's too narrow.
Similarly, wondering if you think a 1X setup would offer low enough gearing for the climbs while loaded down, or are double chain rings more prudent?
Many thanks for any info!
Hey Gavin, thanks for watching. The roads were in pretty good shape for pretty much all of the trip except for the decent into Anderson bay in texada. That was a bit more rough but I’d be comfortable doing that and the whole trip on 36s if they were fairly knobby. If you skip Anderson bay - you’ll be fine. There was a section on the east side of powell lake that was pretty rough too but I think you’d be fine.
As far as gearing, it depends on you set up. Three of us in this trip were running 1x but two of them were mtb gearing (probably 50 in the back and 30 in the front). But yeah, it’s going to vary based in your fitness but hey if it gets too hard just walk you bike!
Feel free to message me on Instagram or by email if you want more advice.
i’m born and raised texada and let me tell you all the trails you did are 1000x more fun on a dualsport motorcycle
