It is a common misconception that sweat itself causes body odor. In actual fact, human sweat is almost odorless. Body odor occurs due to bacteria on a person's skin breaking down protein molecules within sweat and producing odor as a result.
A large percentage of Native Americans have this too. It’s also like 90%. I’m Mexican and I thought that having dry/flaky odorless earwax along with no body odor was normal. Omg, I’m pregnant too and hate how much it makes me sweat!!!! I usually barely ever sweat even when working out I have to use sauna vests to make myself sweat.
Thankfully it doesn’t smell like anything or I’d drive myself crazy since my nose is really sensitive 😅
@Johnny Rojas I drink 3 litres a day of water, I still sweat.
@Johnny Rojas more like they need to drink less water if that's what you're trying to say
@@star_fruitti health plays a big role in how much people sweat. Also certain people have adapted to being hotter
@Johnny Rojas lol I also drink 3+ liters a day. Like I said I’m pregnant and when you’re pregnant to keep yourself and baby healthy and prevent pre-term labor or miscarriages you need to make sure you’re well hydrated. I was also in the military and they’d basically force us to drink enough water in boot camp so we wouldn’t get dehydrated and die while working out(there have actually been people who have died from dehydration in boot camp that’s why they’re so serious about it)
Also the reason why that no-socks fashion worked so well in Korea. No stinky feet for them.
You did manage to get a laugh out of me. Thank you!
This was very interesting to know and very funny to watch 😂
Why
When he said “which ethnicity has the least body odor”
Lol def not me
I am that weird causasian- no real body odor my whole life-once I became pregnant with my daughter, my body hair disappeared and never grew- 24 years ago- have not shaved my legs etc. since. No foot odor etc. So, could just be an anomoly for me.
I am German, so our tendency is towards a great deal of hair everywhere. Love that you two docs can pick on each other in a fun way!!

I’m half Asian so I guess my B.O is balanced out 😂 I don’t sweat or need deodorant unless it gets a little bit too sunny😂
You might have one copy of the gene, like me (I'm white). I can smell if it gets *really* bad but I have never used deodorant in my life because it's never really been enough of an issue.
so grateful to be East Asian. I’ve never had to apply deodorant or anything like that (plus I’m very sensitive to fragrances) and I always smell nice (as I’ve been told by a ton of people.) I think I smell like my body wash all the time lol

How are her armpits light lol just curious cuz I would love mine to be as well
@@brittanys505 as someone from Middle East I personally don’t shave or wax my armpits cuz I don’t think it’s necessary and my armpits are much brighter than any other part of my body, idk if me not shaving/waxing it is the reason but I’m certainly grateful that if I ever had to shave it it wouldn’t be dark lol
It’s called laser hair removal and menopause, sweetie. 😐
Sh*t, I was not expecting that 😭🤣 That shade tho
I've never been a smelly person, but I noticed that after my pregnancy, my ears produced way more earwax, that was not only wetter, but darker. And I started to sweat under my arms, which I rarely did before. Also. I had barely any body hair before, and that slightly changed as well, like now my underarms need a shave once a week, instead of once a month. I silently blame my son.
Dont blame your son!!

This had me laughing a good one.😂
It was a huge revelation for me to find out that people of other races (I'm asian) used deodorant heavily..I was like 'if you shower every day you'll be ok??'
So true 😂
All of my grandparents are from east asian(china) but live in south east asian country, I shower twice a day but still if I sweat, I will smell. If lucky, I will smell sweaty, if not, I will have that unpleasant smell. So I use deodorant everyday
A lot of people shower everyday + wear deodorant.
@@Funeral_Mannequinnot everyone they just put on deodorant 😂😂
I have extremely dry ear wax compared to my brother's.
Let's say I can go a few days with out a shower, while they stink down the house within a day.
Lol..😂😂🎈
It is a common misconception that sweat itself causes body odor. In actual fact, human sweat is almost odorless. Body odor occurs due to bacteria on a person's skin breaking down protein molecules within sweat and producing odor as a result.
Exactly
they think they don’t smell 🤮🤮🤮

Love how you doctors openly roast each other 🤣👌❤️
A large percentage of Native Americans have this too. It’s also like 90%. I’m Mexican and I thought that having dry/flaky odorless earwax along with no body odor was normal. I kept buying deodorants until my late teens because everybody did until I realized it I it was a waste of money since I never needed it 😅
Yep we also don't grow much body hair
Dad's a Chinese-Filipino-spanish descent. He never used deodorant nor he ever smelled. Lucky man
I'm Filipino too!
You are definitely the coolest and really great looking doctor on CZcams for sure!
This actually explains why I didn't understand why everyone wore deodorant.
I’m so jealous of East Asians for having so little body hair I’m south East Asian and um....let’s just say I wasn’t blessed with smooth hairless skin 🥲🥲🥲🥲 but it’s ok. 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Its okay, Europeans and Americans just love coming to South East Asia and marrying the natives and locals.
They love our weather, sunshine , food , culture , snd our lovely brown , tan skins.
I am Filipina (South East Asian), my armpit does not smell, my earwax is also dry and color white and I have never used deodorant..
Okay we get it- the least body odor, the best skin. Quit rubbing it in our face.
Only kidding 🤪
Not everyone though

Ive also noticed certain groups lacking body hair as well.
Here is a dark-skinned flex.
We don't sweat heavy and we are the least likely to have acne. :)
Thats humongous cap
True!
i thought black people sweat the most no? acne one i get.
@danyaalqureshi3272 It seems that the darker skin does not sweat, and their skin stays young longer, but the lighter skin Blacks do sweat and get acne and age faster guess it's the mixed blood that mess them up! They also have more diseases.
if thats true thats pretty cool, quite the flex. Those korean folk got us all beat though. TO imagine never worrying about BO, dream come true lol. @@XoxoMoot
At least I wash regularly and I can go out without deodorant. I'm Mediterranean. I'm not sure about other women, depending on their personal hygiene habits. I have a neighbor that her daughter hit puberty at 9 yo and she told us that her daughter emits a very bad body odor and that she couldn't find a good deodorant for her. That was a few years ago. I think the daughter is 17 now..
I don’t need deodorant either. Also don’t have to shave often
I'm black. I do need deodorant, not that I rely on it. However i rarely have to shave. I guess we all have our ups and downs its interesting
A colleague of mine had the same problem. The kind of odour u can't even mask with a deodarant.
Thats so hilarious, because im half Korean and Black, and when i was young, i had dru earwax and no body odor, and was like this until i was around 19. Then for some reason i started getting wet earwax, and started needing deodorant when i never needed it before.
I think I'm developing a crush for this guy buhahahaa 😂❤
i remember hearing about this and apparently thats why east asian people are more prone to heat strokes
This is true not enough sweat glans and too thick hair... But before heat stroke there is migraine or nose bleed as warning sign 🛑

50% of Indians don’t have the gene but because of the food that you guys eat probably most of you smell like onions
Doesn't miss a chance to roast Dr.Ricky Brown😄😂😍
I'm Korean, and I've NEVER used or bought deodorant in my life. Even when I workout, I don't really need it. (I asked my trainer if I smell after intense workout, and even he was surprised cuz I still had that fabric conditioner smell😂)
Lol you are lucky😭😄
You don't grow either
Can't believe i am seeing this.Had a lunch with Korean friend and he told me this exact thing about an hour ago.
Dr. Youn; not only are you the best smelling, which I'm sure you are, but I know you're a very handsome guy and loving with compassion.... Enjoy your vids! Keep being you... 💞✌️👍
I worked at a Japanese car dealership as a mechanic. Predominately Asian customers, Vietnamese/ Chinese mostly. I used to literally have a can of air freshener in my toolbox cause their cars smelt like BO. Worked there for eight years this was a constant issue. I think more work needs to be done on this ABCC11 gene.
My nose is quite sensitive. I can tell the difference between people's body odours. It stinks, which is why I avoid crowded areas. However, one time when I went to a shopping mall (forced by my mama), I was greeted by a nice odour emanating from a man in his thirties. It was the first and most likely the last person whose stench I could bear.
I'm 21 and I just started to grow my armpit hair. I'm amazed XD
U can use alum sticks after bath just wet the tip and apply it at underarms and under the breast area and you will notice that after few uses that particular area won't smell or won't have sweaty feel or oder over there.

Yeah cuz we have absolutely nothing in common with arabs and indians
Wild! We have 1% Asian genetics in our family, from my mom's side. I have almost 0 body odor (seriously have to go 5+ days without showering and getting sweaty.. ew). My ear was is also nearly white it's so pale yellow and it's super light and flakey. I can actually hear it shake around in my ears if there's a lot trying to work it's way out. (I used to have to have it professionally removed because my ears are so tiny. My 3yo has bigger ears. 😳)
I started sweating in my twenties on my right, but I never sweat on the left side lol
I have smelt bad for so long it hurts 😭😂
I drop sweat when I’m not even hot and smell like onions 😂😂 and started WAY before puberty

🤣 Love the friendly banter.💖
Also, I’m single if you know any Asians.🤣🤷🏻♀️
I'm curious if this gene also makes the sweat thicker, and if non-Asian people can have it. One of my adult sons has sweat that's very thick, and can go days without deodorant or showering without stinking. (He normally bathes- he was just curious.) His brothers and sister don't have this.
Thick sweat?? I don't think my sweat is thick it just smells significantly less
What is thick sweat? Not like water but syrup consistency? 😳

I’m 16 and never used deodorant, most people say ew when I tell them. But then I ask if they could even tell, and they say no
You can always use that as an opportunity to politely share the fact that a large part body odor is tied to genetics (though not all). Just try not to sound like a smart-ass when saying it in person (feels almost impossible to do when just typing).
So, some people will need deodorant more than others. In the same way that some people get more pimples than others, or some will need more or less sunscreen. All mainly genetics.
Unfortunately for me as a east Asian I probably do have that functioning gene.
Less body odour but bad breath 😢😢😢
This may sound strange to you but in the jungle of Vietnam I could smell when the VC were in the area. It was the smell of burning wood from their campfires. It would get into their clothes really strong.
As an Eastern European woman I have all the crappiness. My pits and underboobs sweat a lot, I produce too much oil on my face and earwax, and am covered in hair... my legs, belly, arms, you name it. I'm too damn lazy to shave all the time 🙄
Well that sounds interesting. I am kinda turned on after reading your comment. Seriously!
