Art Supplies Showdown: Sketchbox vs Art Snacks May 2023 Boxes

- In this video, we take a look at the May 2023 subscription boxes from Sketchbox and Art Snacks, two of the most popular art supply subscription services out there. I get the Premium Sketchbox and the Art Snacks Plus boxes... This video is not sponsored by either company... I just love getting random cool art supplies and thought I'd show you what they are all about.
I do an unboxing of each box, discussing what's inside and showing off each item. Then, I'll put the graphite items from the Sketchbox to use and create a small piece of art with the supplies and paper provided in the box.
The major difference between the two boxes is the size of the paper pad included. Premium Sketchbox comes with a small pad of paper every month, while Art Snacks Plus provides a full-sized pad.
Overall, I loved both boxes and can't wait to see what they have in store for us next month. Whether you're a professional artist or just starting out, this video will help you decide which subscription box is right for you.

I knew there would be some marker lovers out there that would love seeing what came in!! I haven't ever done an art meetup - but I used to do all the photography meetups that were in my city for years - those are what got me into starting my creative business years ago. I loved them. I'm a social person when creating. I love seeing what others are doing, creating, chatting and having fun! 🥰

I subscribed to Sketchbox beginning with the marker box month and was so disappointed. Not a marker girl either! I wound up cancelling the quarterly subscription but did just take advantage of the buy one get one free to purchase the past watercolor box and the box with pigments in bottles. I’ll keep an eye on future boxes to see if they make me change my mind. I do love how this type of thing sparks joy to try new goodies and jump starts the creative process with some experimentation!

I would be interested in seeing the markers from Art Snacks on different types of papers, and see if they would work at all like watercolor.
I was wondering if they would work like watercolor too… so I have kept them for now to try that out. If I get something interesting I’ll definitely post it! 😊
I definitely like the graphite box better, as well, although I do like the Lyra markers in the Art Snacks box. They look similar to Tombows, which can be used similar to watercolor (my preferred medium)
I have some Tombows… but just never used them. I should get them back out and experiment. Maybe I discount the value of them in my art and should play some! But that graphite stuff has been super fun. I was playing in them again today 😊
Maybe you were thinking of palleteful packs. They don’t have cards (which I do NOT like!)
Maybe that was it. You know I looked at several… but I really like getting that card. I keep them for reference. 😊
Sketch box looks like it would be my favorite as well. Im not a marker peeson either.

I only subscribe to these boxes once or twice a year but I cheat a little bit 😅 when I see for example people unboxing an april box containing something I don't like I'll probably subsribe just because it's almost certain that I'll get something I'll like for the next month 😂👌🏼
I'm not into graphite but the matte and liquid graphite look so interesting! And the tiny pads are so cute!
That’s the way to do it!! You’ll definitely get something you love next if you didn’t like the current one!! I love that. I really loved the graphite stuff and am a little obsessed with my graphite watercolors… so this was my very favorite in the past few months!
