In every century there are tragic stories going back to Biblical times of folks being forced to leave their homeland, their homes and often their loved ones.
One of the greatest and most beautiful depictions in music, is this heartfelt lament by Heinrich Isaac (c.1450 -1517).
Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen,
ich fahr dahin mein Strassen,
in fremde Land dahin.
Mein Freud is mir genommen,
die ich nit weiss bekommen,
wo ich im Elend bin.
Innsbruck, I must leave you;
I will go far from the streets I know
to foreign lands.
My joy has been taken from me,
I know not what will become of me,
Or where I will land in misery. - Hudba

This is so beautiful! Lovely voices and musical performances, fabulous sound quality, with superb graphics. So clever! Thank you
This is my favorite interpretation of "Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen" on CZcams. It even surpasses the version of Die Singphoniker due to its creativity. My special admiration goes to the soprano who gives an unseen warmth and softness to this song. A side note about the tenor voice: personally, I would sing a Bb instead of a B in "Straßen". I admit that I am in a minority position, as most interpretations sing the B, but I am quite convinced. Congratulations for this wonderful contribution.
musically and visually pretty; the German accent is a bit off, though :-)
Do not agree! Singphoniker
