Yeah it's understandable why she was upset. It's clearly a prank, not meant to illustrate "wow look at this ungrateful brat" but some people see it that way. Kids pretty much expect presents because that's how they're raised. If they're used to getting big gifts all the time of course they'll be disappointed. Compared to the rich spoiled kids who throw fits over getting the wrong color car or iPhone, that's normal.
Nothing is more loving than a toilet brush from IKEA. Keep that urinary tract infection at bay.
I think it's the modern equivalent of "make me a sandwich". Also, they cost a dollar, buy a lolly instead.

super67759 for like 4 yrs in elementary school I thought we were rich cause or all the presents i got those years and so and I finally stopped being made fun of for my cloths until one day this girl saw me in a shirt and told everyone it was her hand me downs her mom put in the Christmas donation for the kids without money for presents and everyone started making funny of me for it so turns out we were still just as broke and kids are assholes

My dad took me out for dinner and fed me a cake at the restaurant. That's all I got and I love him for that. I grew up getting less in material form but more in terms of experiences from my family and it made my love my family more. Getting alot of gifts is a great way to drain your empathy.
