  • In this video, we delve into the recent developments following the demand by the Opposition CPM for fresh polling in West Tripura, which voted on April 19. The CPM has written to the Election Commission of India, flagging "official claims" of voter turnouts of more than 100 per cent recorded in three Assembly segments in the Lok Sabha constituency.
CPM Tripura secretary Jitendra Chaudhury cited polling figures allegedly sourced from the office of the returning officer, stating that in parts 44 of the Majlishpur segment, parts 25 and 44 of the Khayerpur segment, and part 38 of the Mohanpur segment, turnouts of 105.30 per cent, 100.15 per cent, 98.80 per cent, and 109.09 per cent, respectively, had been recorded.
Chaudhury's letter to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized that such mismatched polling percentages could indicate organized booth capturing and rigging, questioning the fairness of the elections. He also highlighted the Congress's and the CPM's demand to countermand the elections and hold fresh polls to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The video discusses the responses from various political parties, including the BJP, and the implications of these allegations on the electoral process in West Tripura.
Stay tuned as we bring you more updates on this developing story.
