    i'm so happy I found your channel. I'm currently two years into my Bachelors degree of social work in Canada, and have a degree in Correctional Intervention. My hope is to one day become a social worker in the carceral system so it's inspiring to see others experiences. I also love your personality✨

    Idk if I said it already I think I did but my brain is mush, congrats on 1K!!! I love how much your channel has grown, I’ve been learning how to do workouts as a way to relieve stress instead of thinking it’s stressful to workout if that makes sense lol also love your nails! And I love that you prioritize self care so much I need that in my life. Curry is amazing I literally had some two days ago stew curry chicken 🙈 loved this ❤️

    I’m interested in becoming a mental health social worker (what we call it in Aus) working with young people as I have lived experience. I’m just trying decide to do a psych or social work degree. I like social worker’s approach to therapy but psych’s have more recognition here. Thanks for your video.

    This video is so interesting! There was a psych class at my university that gave students the opportunity to visit a juvenile center and work with them (like make crafts and stuff) but I was under 21 so I couldn't take the class lol!

    Hi, thank you for this video! I'm from Brasil and I'm intern social worker in child protection in France. I'd like to have some experiences in criminal field, but I d'ont know if I am ready for it. Actually, I'll have to change my critical view of dangerous criminals, above all, but It's not so easy...

    I'm so glad I found your video. I am also in an online MSW program and I am currently finishing up my first internship I'm hoping to work in mental health in a prison or jail for my second internship. Do you have any advice in finding a placement at a jail or prison? I am currently in Michigan but will be moving to Georgia where I will complete my second internship.

    Hi! I really liked your video! I am in my second year of studying Social Work in Greece, and I would really love to evolve my studies, into prison Social Work! Do you know any good university in Europe that offers postgraduate courses in the field of prison social work? Unfortunately I haven't found anything yet, apart from America. I know it's too soon for me but I'm just so excited! It would be nice if you replied, thank you so much!!

    Figuring out whether to choose psychology or social work. My desire is to use either qualification to move on to studies in human sexuality and sex ed. Does anyone have any advice? 😅

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  Před 2 lety +6

      I think a difference is that psych focuses on the individual whereas social work focuses on individuals, groups, and communities! I think social work is a more holistic option and spends more time on soft skills like how to make a true, good impact than other disciplines focus on. This is 100% a biased answer so probably find someone who majored in psych to also weigh in but I think social work would prepare you very well!

    How safe is it? is there any risk of violence against social workers in prison ?

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Prisons do have violence, but I didn't feel particularly unsafe. My role inside was a supportive one and I was able to build good rapport with many of the teens I worked with. However, there were also always officers around so I was never truly by myself without nearby support if there were to be an altercation near me
